I was at a football game and it went into overtime. I was so focused on the game that I didn’t even check my phone to see the time. It was a one time thing and it will not happen again. I still want to be able to go out. Maybe we can come up with a compromise? I know you were worried about me and I am sorry for that but just know that I was okay. I would like to be able to keep going out with my friends. Being at home sucks because I am just bored. Scientists prove that going out once a week can be very beneficial on your mental health .

Convince your school to eliminate all homework from classes.

Title: Eliminate HW from the School

We all come to school to learn and become better members of society. From the moment the first bell rings to when we are dismissed to our buses most of us are working very hard on the classwork that the teachers assign us, daily. So why do we need to continue to work outside of school? According to the creator of homework Roberto Nevilis, everything that is taught in class “lost its essence” when out of the classroom. Meaning that it has no more meaning or importance other than when it is taught right then and there in his classroom. Other teachers say that it is for extra practice and to make sure we remember it even out of school. If we do the homework it does give us extra practice and rejogs our memory. It does work in that aspect, but it all depends on the person.

56% of students in the US consider homework to be their main source of stress. Students have to get up at the crack of dawn, do school work all day, and then go home to still do school work. It’s HARD. We learn 8 different subjects and have to do work and homework for most of those classes. Many students have stuff to do at home as well like chores, babysitting, work and other responsibilities. We are also going through many hormonal and personal changes, and we are trying to learn how to grow up. As a full time highschool student myself it’s hard to find time that I want to do and that makes me happy when I have to go to school all day, do all my at home responsibilities and still have to do homework on top of everything. There’s not enough time and it can get very overwhelming. If schools just stopped giving out homework or banned it, I feel it would take some weight off of teenagers shoulders, and make their highschool experience a bit less stressful.

I don’t feel that staying in the academy I’m in now will benefit me in the future. Over the past year I’ve been thinking about where I want to go college. I realized that maybe I don’t want to pursue something in the culinary field. Over the recent months I have come to see that if I pursue culinary as a job in the future I might not enjoy cooking anymore. I enjoy cooking as a hobby and something to do in my free time but I feel that if I cook full time, I won't enjoy it anymore. Studies and doctors have shown that when you do a hobby (like Culinary) full time it leads them to not enjoy it anymore. Doing a hobby leads to non-enjoyment and lack of energy to complete it. I would really like to try something in medicine. I've been looking into different things I could do in medicine. I was particularly thinking about sports medicine. I think I would be good at this because from doing swim I’ve had many injuries, so I know how to care for some of those who are injured. I’ve also been told that I would make a good lawyer, but I feel more of a pull towards sports medicine. I enjoy helping people so I believe that would make me a better doctor.

Title: Why Homework is Useless

More than 1 in 3 highschool students have experienced symptoms of depression, and this rate rises by 40% every year. Do you ever stop to think about what the cause is? On stress levels, more than 70% of students said they were “often stressed over schoolwork”, and a huge amount of 56% listed homework as the primary stresser. If you take the time to think about a highschooler’s life, the average student wakes up very early as school usually starts no later than 8AM. It is a known fact that teenagers shouldn’t wake up any earlier than 7AM. That gives a short amount of time to get ready for school. If Students have a normal school day schedule, you should also think about clubs or sports. By the time students get home, if they have a club or sport the time will be at least 5:30 PM. I did bowling as a sport last year and often would come home at 6:30 with homework or projects in every class. You need to also think about these students' personal lives. Once a student gets home, with minimal time they may need to do chores, help with dinner, or even go somewhere important while also finishing all of their homework. I believe that homework could be helpful with refreshing one’s mind, but teachers should think about every student's personal life, other classes they may also be getting work in, and try to be flexible. Homework is useless. We try our best to balance many things in our lives at once, so please try your best to lessen the stress.

Convince your school to eliminate all homework from classes.Everyday feels like copy and paste. Waking up early, school, go home, do homework, sleep, and repeat. You might be thinking, “why don’t you just do something else?”. The reason for that is school and the homework that is given. On average students go to school for 7-9 hours which is already ¼ of the day so why give us more work to do when we already spend a good portion of our day working? Along with that, transportation is different for everyone but for me, I live an hour away. So just going to school everyday takes up almost 11 hours which is half my day. There’s just not possibly any time to do anything else once I get home. Not only that, but having to worry about school, wor.k, family problems, and mental struggles as a teen deprives you
School should be a place to be able to have new experience, meet new people, and for education. So why are there so many students at our school and around the world who are either sad, stressed, depressed, or emotionally struggling? Having basically no time to relax just adds on stress causing work effort and grades to plummet. EVeryone has struggles that they’re going through no matter how small or large, they’re still struggles. So why are schools piling work onto students? I agree that school should be prioritized but everyone has different situations. Some have to go work after spending half their day at school then needing to go home to work on homework is too of pressure for anyone to handle. School isn’t even about education anymore but passing. Having to enforce work on work doesn’t make students want to be motivate kids to learn but for them to cheat or just give up. I guess I’ll just wake up and repeat another day with more things to worry about.

You know that I haven’t been out of the house in a long time but I just wanted to hang out with my friends and make it a memorable moment. Since covid I haven't had time to do anything with my friends and I really missed them. Tonight was one of those nights that’ll never leave my memories. We went to the boardwalk, walked on the beach, got on rollercoasters, overall just had a ton of fun. To be honest, for a fact I don't regret coming in the house late. If I had a chance to relive the day, I would do the same exact things. Fun memories you have with your friends never leave your memory, it’ll always be engraved into your head. So, I know overall that you're still mad that I came home only, and I was wondering if you could ease up on grounding me because I really enjoyed myself tonight.

After coming back from a hard day at school you just want to let your brain relax. On top of that, many younge teanagers, have jobs after school. We are out of school but still have to stress over work that we are forced to turn in and do at our house. 50,000 high school students that Challenge Success surveyed from October 2018 to January 2020, 56 percent of students said they had too much homework. As a 15 years old with a job to go to after school I believe, students shoulndt have to stress out as much as we do over work that I believe should only be done at school, and not forced upon us. We should be able to enjoy our life, without the thought in the back of our head screaming “Did I do my work” and “I don't understand this”. We don't have enough time to get around with School, and our personal lives, if we have to complete assignments outside of school.

Outside of school there’s also many other factors: their jobs, their family, and whether they have leisure rest at home. As a student, stress can be a huge factor. Just look at the poor future generation; over 50% of students reported that they are stressed according to Princetonreview.com. They also are sleep deprived. You do not need to look far & wide and to see a student sleeping in a class. The more time students have, there’s more time to work on the project. With more time to work on it, there’s a higher chance of quality in their work. There’s also a benefit for you, the teachers - there’s less work to grade. There’s benefit for you and the students, so why not?

We all know that school is in session for about 180 days in a year. We also know that students spend about 6-7 hours in school, not including extracurricular activities. Now my question is, for that 6-7 hours, why do we still need homework? For practice you may say? Well what about the 180 days? Is that not enough for us to “practice” in school? I think it is and if it’s not, then I think it should be. Also it could easily be a student's choice to have practice at home for his/her own benefit. In my personal experience homework does not help me “practice”, instead it adds to my stress. Everyday that I get homework is everyday that I lose hours of sleep. And I know for a fact that I am not the only one. Every time I would text a classmate about a homework assignment, even if it’s at 12 am or 3 am, there's always one or two of them who would answer me right away. So my point is it’s not just me who has to stay up all night to finish all the homework that was assigned. Now if schools cared about health, since sleep does in fact affect mental health according to an article I read. Then there shouldn’t be homework. I’m pretty sure everyone knows that we all have other things to do other than school. Whether it’s chores, jobs, and all the other activities. It’s not just about school. In my opinion if I spend my whole day in school, I don’t think it’s right that I also have to spend my whole night for school. For all the schools out there, let’s please ban homework so we, the students can all finally destress.

Convince your school to eliminate all homework from classes.

Title: Homework isn’t as effective as you think

According to a study made by the OECD, students perform poorly after doing around 4 hours of homework per week. With 7-8 classes, homework can very easily pile up, sure a student’s first period teacher may only give them 10 minutes worth of homework, but they may be assigned more thanks to their other teachers. In addition, school obviously isn’t the only thing going on in students’ lives. Most students have to balance school, families, friends, sports, clubs, and anything else that’s going on in their lives. Teenagers should be able to live their lives without having to stress about getting their homework done before 11:59pm. As someone who’s on a sports team and has either practice or a game everyday after school, it can be really difficult to enjoy doing the things I like without stressing about the homework assignments I need to get done. With having to go to school for 6-7 hours 5 days a week, going to 2-hours practices, and making sure to turn all my assignments in on time, I barely have any time to actually live my life and be a regular teenager. In my opinion as a high school student, homework isn't all that effective. Studies show that “elite musicians, scientists, and athletes do their most productive work for only about four hours per day.” This is a lot shorter than a regular school day. If you ask me, additional homework is pointless especially after we just spent the day at school. Many students become unmotivated after stressing for a long period of time, so they stop trying to expand their education and just complete their assignments for a good grade. So, what’s the point of having long school days and giving students additional homework if they aren’t doing their best?

You want to switch out of your academy because you realized that you do not want to pursue a career in the academy you selected. Craft an argument for your parents/ guardians and counselor. Why Student Should Not have to Keep at what they Hate Sitting in a class day after day, made to do work on a computer, my hands clenching with the need to create. This is what I go through every day when in my CAD class. I must write, this is what I think, and yet I have to put my brain power into a computer to create something which will never be seen, and I could care less about. This is now my second year in this school doing these same things, and nothing has changed. Though, I know things could be better if I were allowed to switch to building trades, perhaps then I would be able to conserve my mental power, because it would not be wasted on a computer. UMPC says, “Retinal damage – Digital devices release blue light, which can reach the inner lining of the back of your eye (retina). Studies show that blue light can damage light-sensitive cells in the retina. This can lead to early age-related macular degeneration, which can lead to loss of eyesight. According to the American Optometric Association, children are more likely than adults to experience this when exposed to this high-energy light.” All this being said, I think that if I switched to the building trades academy, I would not have any problems, whether it be with my eyes, or my Sanity. And when I come home after school, I would be able to work on my writing without any creeping stress.

One reason why homework should be eliminated in schools is that students are given homework in about every class. By receiving homework from every class it piles up increasing stress. By taking up too much time studying and finishing homework, students are not offered the time to spend quality time with their friends or family which limits their improvement on social skills. They also have no time for themselves which limits self-care and can even disrupt sleeping cycles. By having irregular sleeping cycles it disrupts a teen’s growth because their brains and body are growing rapidly. Dramatic effects on irregular sleeping cycles can decrease their mental wellbeing. There are various underlying conflicts with homework that should be brought to more attention.

Homework is a good way to practice but too much of a good thing can cause more harm than good. Many students suffer from mental illnesses such as stress disorders, anxiety, depression, and physical ailments due to the pressure of getting their homework done. This causes students to perform poorly on tests. Student schedules are already busy with tests, presentations, and homework prevents most students from participating in sports, clubs, or even taking the time to simply rest. Again 70% of the American student population is constantly stressing over homework, those are high percentages! Students should not have to worry constantly about school and should focus more on other things that could help them with the necessary skills to prepare them for life. Homework has its benefits but there are too many underlying conflicts that affect students’ wellbeing. These problems should be looked at more carefully and more support should be offered to students. This is why homework should be eliminated by schools!

You should give me more time

As you know school can be very hard, especially when you have other things outside of school like sports, jobs or just having issues on your own at home.Me having a job makes it very hard to find time to work on these things especially when i’m just exhausted from the day and want to take a nap.Between the time I get home from school and coming back from work that doesn’t get me enough time to get enough work done.According to acsd.org among high school students they surveyed so far this school year, the average homework load is 2.8 hours per night. Also having other classes makes it hard to make time with this essay since I have other work to worry about too, and I can only do so much work. All that workload and personal issues leads me to stressing.A survey by the American Psychological Association found that nearly half of all teens;45 percent, said they were stressed by school pressures. If I can get one more night that can give me more time to finish this essay.

you were way past your curfew, convincing your parents/ guardian that you should not be grounded.

Title: don't ground me

As much as it is common to get kidnapped or assaulted or any other serious matter, I look out for myself. Yeah I passed my curfew but that doesn’t mean i'm doing something i'm not supposed to be doing.

I'm always aware of what I'm doing and where I'm going, and also who I'm hanging out with. Sometimes things change unexpectedly meaning I won't make it back in time and past my curfew. I understand how dangerous the world is but I beg you not to ground me. I can do things in order to not get grounded for passing my curfew. Such as calling you every 15 min or texting you that i'm doing fine. Yes I know, that most parents worry about their children when they go out but at some point you have to let me do things by myself since I wont be a child my whole life. To be honest it's better to let me go out for a while so then when i'm older i don't have to worry about the world or be scared. I'm usually just at a friend's house or walking around the town but I'm not doing anything bad so you can't really be mad at me. I can even tell my friends' moms to call you and tell you I'm there. As long as I keep up my work at school and doing good; good grades. Then i think you should not ground me.

School should not have homework

Did you know high school students who spend most of their time doing homework experience more stress? 85% of students hate homework because the teachers don’t explain it correctly. Also homework has been a lot different from back then so your parents can’t help. I think homework doesn't help and is a waste of time. Homework causes physical health problems and a lack of balance in their lives. Homework causes you to sleep less and that leads to headaches. 75% of high school students go through depression because of homework. More homework doesn't make your grade better.
