My Call to Adventure #1

It all started with 8th grade promotion. When all my fellow classmates have finished are amazing three years of middle school. When the principal went on the stage she said, "The teachers have prepared them for what is coming next and I know these kids that sit in front of me will excel throughout all four of their high school years." One I received my certificate from him, I knew high school was calling and it wanted me now.

This symbolizes the call to adventure because the principle is telling the parents and the students that they ready to move on and they are accepting the call by receiving their certificate. And the call was in the know word and in three months I'm going to face the unknown.

After have been faced the challenge I tried to discover new ways to beat it. I had tried so many ways to study until I came upon the app called, Quizzlet. This app has you make flashcards and type out the word instead of just looking at it. If you get it wrong you type it again until you get it right. I also read the dialogues in the textbook and work book. Once that next text came, I was more confident than ever. After a couple days from taking the test, I looked at my results and finally had got that A that I think I truly deserved. At that moment I had transformed into a more intelligent person that is stronger to take on the journey of life.

This symbolizes the transformed part of a hero's journey because after overthrowing the challenge I took on, it changed me by making my study habits a lot better.

My Challenges #3

When I took my first Spanish test I was going into the classroom with an abundance of confidence. Once I started taking the test I realized that Spanish 2 was going to be a lot harder than I thought it would be. I still got a C on it but I knew that I could do better. Overtime I developed new study habits that I thought would help but every time I took a new test it would come out to be the same grade every single time, which frustrated me. I didn't know how to overcome this big of a challenge but I wasn't ready to give up yet.

This symbolizes the challenge because a challenge represents an obstacle that is hard for the hero or any person to overcome. Its what makes them think more and develop new strategies to beat the challenge. And this part of my life is exactly the same thing.

Katniss' Call to Adventure #1

Katniss had told Prim to not be nervous because you only have one piece of paper in the bowl. Prim had trusted her sister and tried to let it go. After they got to their seat, Effie Trinket had introduced herself and the games. She had decided to pick out of the girl's bowl first. Everybody watching with great nerves overpowering their bodies she pulls the white piece of paper out of her hand not caring about the sadness and danger it brings to the kids and families. Effie opened it up with joy and said, "Prim Rose Everdeen!" Everyone look at Prim with a concerned face as did Katniss. Katniss knew she had to do something so she yelled, "I volunteer as tribute!"

This symbolizes the call to adventure because Katniss knew she couldn't let her sister go so it was her calling to take her place in this ruthless and dangerous adventure. This was also taking place in the known world now sending her to the unknown

KatnissCrossing the Threshold #2

After Katniss excepted the call to adventure she begun the process of crossing into a world she had no clue about. She had traveled to different districts and new places in the capital with Peeta, realizing all the things she could of had but the capital was to selfish and cruel to give. After Katniss had gone through all the ceremonies and interviews it was time to cross over to the dreadful game called the Hunger Games. She had been dreading for this moment to come throughout the whole trip and now it's finally here. Katniss took her mocking jay pin and pinned it underneath her suit to reminder her of her family, friends, and District 12. While saying goodbye to Cinna she goes through this tube to get into the games. Once she reached the top she reminded herself of all the things Haymitch taught her. She looked around at all the other 24 tributes with a brave outside but a nervous feeling in the inside. Katniss could hear the loud voice counting down for the game to start and drowning her thoughts of strategy in replace of fear. Once it stopped she knew that she couldn't let her fear choke her to death because she has to focus on what is important, which means surviving.

This symbolizes the crossing the threshold because Katniss had gone from her familiar home in District 12 to the arena where she fights to the death. After hearing the alarm go off indicating to go, was when she knew that the only way to get home was to survive, and there was no going back home.

Me Crossing the Threshold #2

Monday, August 25 I woke up really nervous going to high school. I didn't know what to expect. Once I finished my daily routine my friend was here to pick me up. We rode in the car hoping that we had classes together. Once we stepped onto the school we had crossed a whole new world of experience and challenges that we weren't sure if we were ready to face. After we got are schedules we started exploring the new campus that we were a little excited to learn about but I knew that I will never go back to middle school.

This explains the crossing the threshold perfectly because I had gone from a place I was so familiar with to a place that I didn't know at all. I also knew that I wouldnt be able to return.

Katniss Transformed #4

Katniss started to worry about Peeta when she couldn't find him. She spent so much time looking for him in the arena getting more worried every second. Once Katniss found Peeta covered in mud and leaves for protection she pulled him inside into a small cave. That was when the sparks came between the both of them not even thinking about her family and friends at home for those few moments. That night had changed her and created a new prospective of life to Katniss. After this night she becomes more trust worthy and starts getting the capitals attention sending her more sponsors than she ever thought she would get.

This symbolizes the transformed part of the hero's journey because Katniss at first only cared about her family and friends back home and didn't care for the people there as much including Peeta. And she had a hard time hiding her feelings about the capital making her less likable. Overtime she socially develops more getting her sponsors and the capitals attention; and emotionally she feels love and trust. These are the things she had never experienced before making her a different person.

Katniss' Challenges #3

Day after day Katniss still struggles to hide her feelings against the capitol. She knows she will need to support them and she must convince them to like her. She cannot share how she really feels about that topic or it will make it harder for her to win the games. This feeling she gets having to pretend is almost eating her alive. Another challenge she faces is the fact that she has to kill someone. When Rue had died she killed Marvel in a heat beat not even listening to the back of her mind telling her to stop because she was so depressed that she couldn't save Rue the girl that she thought of like a sister. She made sure to give her a proper goodbye before the capital took her, which had created a mess in Rue's district. Overtime, her killing Marvel makes a bigger impact on her life than she could ever imagine. It gives her visions of killing him while hunting for food in District 12. When she thinks she beat the challenge, it really just makes it worst.

This symbolizes the challenge because a challenge gives struggle to the person and that's exactly what happened to Katniss. It was hard for her to beat every obstacle that came through the path of her journey. That's what makes it a challenge because it was difficult for the hero to overcome.
