Trust vs. Mistrust

From time to birth to about 1 year of age, the child begins to develop a sense of trust; typically, they gain a sense of trust and dependency for their caregivers. While Allyson, obviously, does not have any memories from the age of 1, she does remembering feeling a sense of attachment towards her mother at a young age: feeling comfortable with, relying on , and holding hands in public. While holding hands does not seem like anything, it's really a metaphorical idea to the children of not wanting to be separated from their parent. Autonomy vs. Shame & Doubt

From about 1 year of age to the age of 3, children begin to reach a form of independency; they begin to exercise and do certain things by themselves. Success leads to autonomy, failure to shame & doubt. Allyson began by explaining to me that during this stage of development, she began to do things on her own, then making her less dependent. She talked on her own, ate on her own, walked on her own; all of these things to unintentionally get out of the regularity of dependency at a young age. Initiative vs. Guilt

From ages 3 to about the age of 6, children come into this stage where they have more control or choice over certain decisions and activities; where they become more and more independent. During the initiative vs. guilt stage of development, Allyson really started to become more and more independent from her mother. With making conversation to other people and being out in public more, she really started to connect with others and to be not so physically attached to her mother. "While most commonly associated with the work of Sigmund Freud, the term psychoanalytic perspective is actually a broader umbrella that incorporates an array of related perspectives, generally focused on the lasting effects of childhood experiences and unconscious drives and motivations."

Industry vs. Inferiority

From ages 6 to 12, children are introduced to working in groups of other children, developing a sense of competence and the importance of working with others. Children are either prepared for the real-world or aren't. From here, Allyson really continued to grow and a path is starting to come about in terms of her developmental process. She immediately was one of the most social child at her age; she from the gecko was a standout at school, she enjoyed the activities, and she started to develop interest in friends. With this being said, she was just naturally inclined to be attracted to group situations, she was a social butterfly at a very young age. From age 12 to the age of 18, children develop a more complex ideology; they develop a sense of identity, figuring out what it is that interests them as well as who they want to be. This stage simply is another step in the Allyson's developmental process; she began to understood how social she was, and used that to her advantage. She found people she liked, she took classes that seemed appealing to her, and she began to have more of a s say in the world. "This process is called observational learning, or modeling. Intimacy vs. isolation

At this stage of development, young adults begin to develop feelings of passion and love; they either result to social scenes when in discomfort, while others may lean towards self-isolation. At this point, Allyson really had a sense of who she was and what's important to her. Furthermore, she had friends who she turned to when in need. But more importantly, she began to understand the important of relationships in life, and how big of an advantage someone who is naturally skilled at talking could have. College, for her, was the perfect experience to develop and expand her knowledge, as well as her advantages and how to use them properly. Generativity vs. stagnation

From the ages of 40 to 65, this is the stage of development where adults leave their mark on the world. Typically, conceiving children will occur at this stage of development, but corporate contribution or communal contribution are other examples. While Allyson has not yet gone through this stage of development, she is approaching and has her priorities confirmed. Allyson has actually never found the idea of giving birth or conceiving a child appealing to her and her interests; she rather has a passion towards her work and intends to leave her mark in regards to that, something that is most important to her. "For example, our brains have evolved to find certain faces and body types as attractive, to strive for dominance, and to perceive babies as cute because these propensities addressed the adaptive problems of mate selection, access to resources, and survival of young."

Integrity vs. despair

From ages 65 and older, this is the stage of development where adults typically reflect on their lives, situationally positive or negative. If they lived a meaningful, satisfactory live these reflections tend to be more positive, while other individuals who perhaps didn't live the most glorious life are not satisfied. Furthermore, Ally has not approached the stage of integrity vs. despair and a point of reflection. She, however, is determined to leave her mark on the world in regards to her work and profession. With this being said, a lot of that matter is determined on her own satisfaction of her work. "By questioning a large number of people, investigators can get a broad picture—at least of what the respondents say they believe or do or did. However, people willing to participate in interviews or fill out questionnaires may not accurately represent the population as a whole."
