DEP 2 is moving and we're so excited to see PesaPlay DAO bringing their mission to life!

This week's Kambria highlight comes from the field — our Cultural & Creative DAO Mindanao Node is out there meeting the voices, faces, and stories that make this island-region so extraordinary. Led by Balay Kasamtangan, the team traveled across Northern Mindanao and Bukidnon — sitting down with cultural bearers, documenting spaces, and capturing living traditions that have survived centuries of change.

𝟏𝟎 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬. 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬. 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠.

This is what DAO-powered cultural documentation looks like — on the ground, in the community, with the people at the center.

KP is a land of rich history, beautiful mountains, diverse cultures, Pashto language and poetry, and a strong tradition of hospitality. Located near the borders of Afghanistan and China, our region has historically been a bridge between different people, cultures, and civilizations.

But KP has also faced difficult times. Terrorism, insecurity, displacement, poverty, and limited opportunities have affected many families and especially young people. Yet one thing I have always admired is the resilience of our people. Despite challenges, our teachers teach, our students dream, our communities support one another, and our young people continue to move forward.

This is why CED is meaningful to me.

I see CED as a way to connect the talent and potential of our youth with people and opportunities around the world. A young person doesn't always need another lecture or course. Sometimes, they need a Guide who listens, shares experience, builds confidence, and helps them take the next step.

I would especially love to develop CED sessions around Youth Empowerment and Leadership—helping young people discover their strengths, build confidence, develop skills, and turn their ideas into action.

For me, CED is about building a bridge:

From Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the world—and from the world back to our young people.

We have challenges, but we also have talent, courage, culture, hospitality, resilience, and a lot to offer.

And I believe our youth have a story worth sharing. 🌍🤝🌱

It taught me the importance of collaboration, consistency, and taking ownership.

I’m grateful to everyone in Exchange DAO for the teamwork and support. Seeing ideas turn into real activities and community engagement was especially rewarding.

There were challenges, but they gave us opportunities to learn, adapt, and grow together.

💡 Insight: I learned that adapting to a completely new system takes time — everything from the platform to the workflow was new to me, so a big part of my journey was just getting comfortable with how things work here. I focused on partner outreach research too, and built a list of 18 potential organizations for the Regeneration WG.

🙌 Shoutout: Thank you to Noah and the Regeneration WG for supporting that list and encouraging me to start outreach.

📖 Story moment: The biggest challenge was adjusting to a brand-new system I wasn't used to. Once things clicked, it became a lot easier to move forward and contribute.

📍 Origin: Libya 🇱🇾 — bringing my background in autism inclusion and neurodiversity advocacy into this DAO experience.

💡 Insights & Tips

• Navigating Complexity: Going from feeling overwhelmed by onboarding documents to gaining total clarity taught me the power of active engagement, steady syncs, and ongoing follow-ups.

• Overcoming Technical Barriers: Even when regional technical limits prevented me from receiving SMS verification codes for CED App testing in Yemen, I learned to pivot my contribution toward strategic documentation, Web3 wallet workflows, and global partner outreach.

• Web3 Practical Skills: I gained hands-on expertise in setting up MetaMask wallets, managing Polygon USDT transactions, and executing Web3 fund flows.

📖 Story Moments & Breakthroughs

• Stepping Up as Working Group Lead: Accepting the role of Lead for the Documentation & Learning Working Group as a solo contributor was a defining moment. I turned initial hesitation into action by establishing the Documentation Master Archive and building tracking, verification, and reporting templates for the DAO.

• Partnerships & Regeneration Outreach: Coordinated outreach with GivingTuesday and initiated partnership talks with the Teachers for Peace Movement. I secured a commitment for a joint Zoom meeting on Aug 16 while actively inviting their collaborators using Kambria templates.

• Looking Ahead: Despite regional access challenges, seeing Kambria’s complementary execution plan and innovative CED App approach inspires me to leverage my networks to drive real-world social impact through Web3 tools.

Key Lessons Learned (My Success Codes):

During our work on the Documentation & Learning WG deliverables, operating within decentralized execution taught me four core principles:

• Clarity over speed: Taking time to align framework rules before building saved us from re-work.

• Movement over perfection: Continuous execution and iteration beat waiting for flawless conditions.

• Show up always: Consistency across sprints builds trust and keeps momentum going.

• System over Goals: Building scalable templates and structured operational guides creates lasting value beyond short-term targets.

Memorable Breakthrough:

Navigating the transition from broad framework concepts to a practical 10-tab operating toolkit and step-by-step organizer guide. Seeing the entire workflow from credits and karma multipliers to capped KAT settlements come together into a usable system was a huge win.

Being part of Exchange DAO during DEP 2 has been a learning experience for me.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that building a community goes beyond simply creating content or making announcements. It involves understanding people, communicating ideas clearly, keeping people engaged, documenting progress, and finding creative ways to make a project understandable and accessible to others.

During the execution phase, I’ve been involved in developing user growth materials for Exchange DAO and the CED App, including infographics, social media content, partnership materials and community updates. We’ve also been working on ways to tell the story of CED and communicate its vision.

A memorable part of this journey has been seeing our impact and Regeneration goal gradually take shape. There have definitely been challenges along the way - coordinating ideas, refining our messaging, figuring out what content is most useful, and keeping things moving - but those challenges have also helped me understand what it takes to build something collaboratively.

A big shout out to Okeke Chinedu, our lead, whose insights and direction have kept the train moving. His ability to provide clarity and keep us focused has been really valuable throughout the process.

And to Eneh Precious, my partner in user growth owned lane - thank you for your sharp insights, thoughtful contributions, and the way you consistently bring ideas to the table. Having someone to brainstorm and build alongside has made the journey much easier and more enjoyable.

I'm grateful to be part of a team where we're not just talking about ideas, but actually building, learning and figuring things out together.

DEP 2 has been more than just another phase of the DAO journey for me. It has been a period of learning, collaboration, experimentation, and seeing how ideas can move from conversations into real community experiences.

One of the things I appreciate most about this phase is the opportunity to contribute, not just as a member, but as someone who can help turn ideas into stories, activities, and meaningful experiences within the community.

Our meetup was one of those moments that made the whole experience feel real. Beyond the conversations we have online, coming together, sharing ideas, learning from one another, and simply experiencing the community in person reminded me of what makes a DAO special: the people behind the ideas.

And a big shout-out to Onu Stella, our Working Group Lead for Communication & Community, for her incredible ability to coordinate the team, draft thoughtful plans, and keep our communication and posts organized and orderly. 🫶🏽

Looking back back so far, I’m proud of the progress we’ve made, but I’m even more excited about what comes next. There is still so much to learn, build, and improve, and I’m grateful to have been part of the journey.

For me, DEP 2 has been a reminder that execution is not just about completing tasks. It is about creating something meaningful, learning through the process, and leaving the community better than you found it.

Here’s to the lessons, the people, the memories, and everything still ahead. 🚀

DEP 2 has been a journey of turning ideas into something practical. For KTD, one of our biggest learnings was seeing how governance, contribution tracking and recognition can move from frameworks on paper into a working prototype.

The process also taught us that decentralization needs more than good ideas, it needs clear ownership, active participation, transparent contribution records and strong coordination between working groups.

I’m proud of how our team continued learning, adapting and supporting each other throughout execution. A big thank you to our contributors, WG leads, DAO Facilitators and the Kambria team for the support throughout this journey.
