People overseas establish better farmlands and raw materials. Greek cities established 100 of colonies. But city states picked their colonists by lottery so a lot of farmers couldn’t go back to greece.

There were high mountains which made it hard for cities to communicate. The mountains surrounded by the valleys separated cities from each other. Ancient Greece developed a lot due to the geographic isolation. The separation of the cities made trade more challenging and stimulating.

Many city states had different ways of governing their city. One of them was called monarchy which is when a government is ruled by a king. Another form they used to govern is aristocracy which is a government ruled by a small group. Not everyone agreed with these ways so if they wanted to take power from tyrants the merchants had to form an oligarchy.

There legacy in their achievements are that the newer generations would be able to appreciate these achievements in the future, buy doing all this they upgrade their land for the better.
