         <title>There are two types of assessments, formative and summative. Formative assessments are used to see how the class is learning on the fly, so to speak and should be used to change pacing of the class. Summative assessments are the &quot;test&quot; at the end that is used to grade the students.</title>

         <title>Assessment is a way of measuring or analyzing whether or not people understand and have knowledge of information presented to them. Assessment is important to do so that the presenter or instructor can check if their methods of presenting or teaching are working or if they should be modified. It also lets the instructor when it&#39;s okay to move on to the next topic.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>We assess our students throughout each lesson each day, informally, formatively, and summatively.&nbsp; We find the progress of our students, how far along they are with the topics that we are covering. When we assess we can see where we need to focus and if we can move onto deeper learning.&nbsp;<br><br>I still think that assessment is constant throughout every lesson, but I think now that personal assessment must be a part of the learning to create buy-in and deeper understanding with our students.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Formative assessment is done throughout the lesson.&nbsp; It is important&nbsp; for the teachers to track student understanding during a lesson.&nbsp; It allows teachers to re-plan and re-teach a concept that students are not grasping.&nbsp; These lessons should not be graded and should provide valuable feedback to the students for improvement.&nbsp; It sets them up for success in the summative assessment.<br><br>Summative assessment is done at the end of the lesson and is graded.<br><br>I used to think, and now I think...<br><br>Students can be apart of their assessment through self and peer assessment.</div>]]></description>

A formative assessment is used to measure the effectiveness of the instruction and the scores are used to influence changes in the classroom. A summative assessment is used to determine how well a student has retained information from the unit, and is used to determine his or her grade for that section.<br><br>I used to think that the teacher is the sole source of assessment materials, and now I know that students can actively contribute to the creation of the assessment methodology.</div>]]></description>
