Example: An ethical issue I noticed when people would judge Arnie because he was autistic and Bonnie because she was having trouble with her weight. No one in the town showed empathy nor sympathy, but rather they looked at them like they weren't normal.

The Social Model changes the perceptions of people with disabilities to consider that they are not defected or deficient. The model focuses on improving social services and civil rights to further better the lives of people with disabilities.
Example: In the movie, many of the community members believed in the medical model as they looked at Arnie and his mother as if their conditions weren't normal to society. They often mocked them and made fun when they would step outside.
