I learnt that spending time with the beneficiaries can actually be quite fun and calming as long as you speak gently. I really admired the parents who came down to be with their children throughout as I realised it must take a lot of energy and patience.

i hope to improve my conversation skills with them, i still find it challenging to engage in a conversation with them sometimes

i learnt that a lot of understanding and patience is needed to care for them, and i also had fun spending time with them.

i think 1 positive impact would be that the arts and crafts session help to develop their creativity and self expression

I learned that even though my youth may sometimes be hesitant to join in activities, it's important to encourage participation rather than giving in to reluctance. I also admired the parent and caregiver who tirelessly supported the youth while walking, which was quite exhausting.

I found the experience quite refreshing because it’s my first time volunteering and interacting with the beneficiaries. I realised that we have to be extremely patient with them and find ways to connect as well as communicate with them! Although it may take some time for them to warm up to us, i’m glad that my beneficiary enjoyed the craft!

Yes they did. I was able to communicate with them better after getting to know the family during the museum session.

It has been my third time meeting with my beneficiaries, so I would say there might be some improvement but I am not really sure about that (maybe because it is not as noticable as last interaction). One thing I found is that he has been more open to me, joking and the distance is much shorter now. It is nice and always surprised to see more sides of him through each time we meet. There is one problem which has been since day 1 is that sometimes I cannot understand what he said, which made the conversations awkward as well (due to language barriers and more things), but I hope I can improve on this to understand him more and can be a better friend to him.

I found it heartwarming that my beneficiary's mother was helping her with her artwork to make sure that she also enjoys the process

I had a lot of fun with my beneficiary Caleb, he loved talking about movies and books which was something we had in common. He warmed up more towards the end and was even grooving to his favourite song while scrapbooking, and i learnt how even the smallest things can bring them joy. Hence, I realised that I should learn to b more grateful and l appreciative of the little things in life.

It was my 2nd time with my beneficiary, Javier, and it was very heartwarming to see that he remembered me from our previous session at the museum. He was very excited for the scrap booking and even held my hand when we went to pick leaves. I learnt how it doesn't take much to bring a little joy to people and to be grateful for what we have each and every day

It was nice being paired with the same friend as the previous week, this allowed me to deepen the connection with him. I could tell was much more comfortable this time compared to the last, and it was really enjoyable learning more about his interests!
