TEENAGE PREGNANCY

Introduction

Hello, my name is Marcha Tribina Alfiyanti, but you can call me Marcha. Here I will explain about teenage pregnancy that occurs in the US

In the US, there was a steady decline in teenage pregnancy from 60 out of 1000 teenagers in 1991 to 40 out of 1000 teenagers in 2005 (Berne). Nonetheless, there was an increase up to 42 out of 1000 teenagers for two years consecutively from 2006 to 2007. The rates fell again to 39.1 out of 1000 cases in 2009 and further to 34.3 per 100 cases in 2010 (Health Communities). Despite this fall, about 1 million teenage pregnancies cases are still being reported annually in the US. An issue of concern is that of all births in the US today, 13% are teenage mothers (Health Communities). More so, there is a chance of up to 0.25 that a teenage mother will have another child in two years (Health Communities). Thus, teenage pregnancy is still an issue of concern, and we should rise to address it.

We all need to understand the major risks and consequences of teen pregnancy.

1. There are health risks for both the mother and the baby.

• The mother may be at risk of pregnancy-induced hypertension, which may be occasioned by failure to receive timely prenatal care (MedlinePlus).

• The child, on the other hand, may be at risk of low birth weight and premature birth (MedlinePlus).

The case may even be worse if the high blood pressure combines with “excess protein in the urine, swelling of face and hands and organ damage” a condition called preeclampsia (Berne).

2. Teenage pregnancies may lead to school dropout.

• Teenage mothers have high school dropout rates, and about two-thirds of teenage mothers do not obtain high school diplomas (Health Communities).

• More so, teenage pregnancies are associated with low educational level, which influences earning potential (negatively) for teen fathers (Health Communities).

3. Teenage pregnancies also affect the income of mothers.

• A teenage mother is likely to have a low annual income (Health Communities). This leads to reliance on welfare at some points, and it has been noted this is likely to happen to about 85% of teenage mothers.

4. Teenage pregnancies are expensive to individuals and the government.

• The cost of teen pregnancies is estimated to be USD 7 billion annually (Health Communities). This results from lost tax revenue, the criminal justice system, child health, and foster care as well as public assistance.

• Other effects include risks of drug and substance abuse as well as emotional crisis.

We must eliminate cases of teenage pregnancy in the society

We, therefore, need to take actions to prevent further teenage pregnancies and promote the current downwards trends that the government has attained (Health communities).

The US government has made significant steps in dealing with the problem of teen pregnancies. Use of evidence-based intervention programs in a sustainable manner and sex education to the teens (Teen pregnancy).

There is a need to participate in the implementation of evidence-based and evidence-informed programs.

Health experts recommend that teens should be provided with medically, accurate information that is guided by evidence to curb teen pregnancy (Berne). Secondly, we should participate in stakeholder education on the available strategies to avert teen pregnancies based on evidence, facts, and data (Teen Pregnancy Prevention 2010-2015).

We also have to participate in ensuring that teen pregnancies prevention programs are sustainable (Teen Pregnancy). Through advocacy for abstinence from sex or and consistent use of birth control measures, we will be able to participate in reducing teenage pregnancies in our communities (Berne).

Conclusion

In summary, teen pregnancy is rampant in the US; it has numerous effects and implications for both the mother and the child (Teen Pregnancy Prevention 2010-2015). However, although the statistics in the US indicate that it is declining, there is a need to ensure that it is pushed much lower. You and I have a role to play in this issue.

assalamualaikum

Hello friends

Let me introduce myself, my name is Ika Faricha Zulfa

Here I will invite friends to discuss anemia

Anemia is a public health problem in Indonesia that can be experienced by all age groups, from toddlers to the elderly. Riskesdas 2013 shows that the prevalence of anemia in women aged ≥15 years is 22.7%, while the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women is 37.1%.

Adolescent girls (rheumataries) are susceptible to suffering from anemia because they lose a lot of blood during menstruation, adolescent girls who enter puberty experience rapid growth so that their need for iron also increases and diets that are sometimes wrong among adolescent girls who suffer from anemia are at risk of experiencing anemia during pregnancy. This will have a negative impact on the growth and development of the fetus in the womb and has the potential to cause complications in pregnancy and childbirth, even causing death of the mother and child. The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) according to the 2015 Inter-Census Population Survey (SUPAS) was 305 per 100,000 live births and the main causes of maternal death were pre-eclampsia and eclampsia (32.4%) and postpartum hemorrhage (20.3%) of which one A risk factor for postpartum hemorrhage is anemia.

Therefore, let's prevent anemia in the first way, namely by increasing the intake of food sources of iron such as: liver, fish, meat, poultry, dark green vegetables and nuts, secondly, fortifying food with iron, including in wheat flour, rice, cooking oil, butter and several snacks and consume iron supplements regularly

Assalamu'alaikum Wr. Wb
My name is indah fatihah rahmah
I will talk about the impact of stress on pregnant women

Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension. It can come from any event or thought that makes pregnant woman feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. The emotions and experiences during antenatal period impinge on her developing foetus. Some researchers believe that severe stress during pregnancy harms mother infant relationship and reduce mother’s ability to play motherly role. It is normal for a pregnant woman to be psychologically unsteady and tensed about her health, baby’s wellbeing and the likely changes which will take place in her life after the birth of the child. Mild stress during antenatal period is good for optimal development of the fetus, but if it exceeds it may lead to long term effect on the foetus, and alter the development of the foetal nervous system. During pregnancy a women’s body changes in many ways due to the effect of hormones and sometimes be uncomfortable and may lead to stress during pregnancy. A recent review suggested that stress during antenatal period present for a long term has adverse effect on the mother and child.

Therefore, the health care professionals should accept that every mother is different from other and educate them on complimentary therapy. There are many strategies that can be implemented to improve the health of the mother and foetus, For examples there is Self-Empowerment, Affirmation And Relaxation Training Against Stress Levels. Let's keep our minds and hearts out of the stresses that can cause the pregnant mother and baby to stay healthy.

Okay, that's all information about the impact of stress on pregnant woman.
Wassalamualaikum Wr.

Assalamualaikum wr.wb
Hello everyone my name is Fitri
Here I will discuss about adolescent reproductive health

Understanding adolescent reproductive health is also important, including not getting pregnant under the age of 21. This is because an adult woman's pelvis only grows fully until it measures 10 cm, which is the size of the baby's head. Meanwhile, teenagers who marry under the age of 21 can cause infant death and bleeding in the mother.

Furthermore, pregnant women under the age of 21 cannot grow taller because the strength of their bones is taken away by the baby. When she is 50 years old and enters menopause, her bones, which have not yet grown completely due to being pregnant too young, experience loss so they break easily when she falls

Teenagers need to know about reproductive health so they don't contract sexually transmitted diseases and experience unwanted teenage pregnancies. Apart from that, knowing about reproductive health also helps teenagers avoid the impact of reproductive health problems in old age.

OK, that's my explanation about adolescent reproductive health.
Waalaikumsalam wr.wb

assalamualaikum wr.wb Hello everyone, my name is Florence Aswita Chandra, here I will discuss the importance of vitamins and minerals for pregnant women. Did you know that the body needs various vitamins and minerals? Yes, vitamins and minerals are really needed by the body to stay healthy. There are lots of foods that contain nutrients, ranging from fruit, meat, milk, nuts and vegetables. Adopting a healthy lifestyle is not difficult because all nutritious foods can be found easily around us. When the body's vitamin and mineral needs are met, the body will be healthy and less susceptible to disease. The opposite applies, if you are reluctant to consume foods containing vitamins and minerals, your body will be more susceptible to disease. Therefore, from now on, let's adopt a healthy lifestyle by eating foods that contain vitamins and minerals, as well as other nutrients. Apart from food, we also have to balance it with regular exercise. OK, that's my explanation about the importance of vitamins and minerals for pregnant women. thank you, Wassalamualaikum wr.wb

Assalamu'alaikum Wr. Wb
Hello everyone, my name is Anggie Aulia Safina Sani with Nim G2E022026, here I will discuss the importance of consuming folic acid for pregnant women.

Do you know the importance of consuming folic acid?
In an effort to maintain the health of the body and fetus, it is important for pregnant women to fulfill their nutritional needs as best as possible. One of the nutrients that pregnant women need to fulfill is folic acid. Folic acid is a type of vitamin B complex that pregnant women need to get enough of. This is because there are a number of benefits of folic acid for pregnant women, here is a complete explanation.
1. Forming the Placenta
The first benefit of folic acid for pregnant women is that it helps optimize the formation of the placenta in the womb. The placenta is a layer that forms in the uterine area during pregnancy and functions to transmit oxygen and nutrients to the fetus.
2. Reduces the risk of preeclampsia
Preeclampsia is a condition when a pregnant woman's blood pressure increases and is accompanied by excess levels of protein in the urine. In an effort to reduce the risk of preeclampsia, pregnant women are advised to consume sufficient folic acid, especially when the pregnancy has entered the second trimester.
3. Optimize Red Blood Cell Production
Folic acid is one of the nutrients needed to optimize the production of red blood cells in the body. Therefore, adequate consumption of folic acid can reduce the risk of anemia in pregnant women, which can be a trigger factor for premature birth, low birth weight babies, and post-natal bleeding.
4. Prevents neural tube defects in the fetus
Folic acid deficiency in pregnant women risks causing health problems in the fetus, one of which is neural tube defects, such as spina bifida and anencephaly.
- Spina bifida is a condition characterized by abnormalities in the spinal cord. Spina bifida can increase the risk of various complications in babies, such as motor disorders, brain infections, and permanent disability.
- Anencephaly is a disorder that occurs when a baby is born without part of the brain and skull bones. The condition can be fatal because it risks causing death to the baby after birth.
5. Reduces the risk of congenital heart disease in the fetus
In addition to neural tube defects, folic acid deficiency in pregnant women can also increase the risk of congenital heart disease in the fetus. Therefore, it is important for pregnant women to meet their daily folic acid needs as best as possible in an effort to prevent various congenital abnormalities in the fetus.
6. Reduces the risk of pregnancy complications
The benefit of consuming folic acid during subsequent pregnancies is that it can reduce the risk of preventing miscarriage, which is a condition where the fetus dies in the womb. Apart from that, consuming enough folic acid can also reduce the risk of other pregnancy complications, such as impaired fetal development and premature birth.

Tips for Meeting Folic Acid Needs for Pregnant Women
To fulfill this, pregnant women can provide foods that contain high levels of folic acid in their daily menu. A number of recommendations for foods high in folic acid for pregnant women are as follows:
a. Green vegetables, such as kale, spinach, and celery
b. Legumes, such as lentils, peas, and peanuts
c. Fruits, such as papaya, grapes, oranges, and avocado
d. Beef liver, Egg
e. Asparagus
Apart from that, pregnant women can also help meet their daily folic acid needs by taking additional supplements as recommended by their doctor.
Let's create a healthy and quality generation by consuming foods high in folic acid for pregnant women.

OK, that's my explanation about the importance of pregnant women consuming folic acid.
Wassalamualaikum Wr. Wb.

The characteristics of a stunted child can be seen from their physical appearance, namely their height does not correspond to their age, then the child's brain becomes smaller, which affects their productivity. The causes of stunting include a lack of love, as well as a lack of stimulus and motivation. Stunting is not an infectious disease or a hereditary disease but an individual disease.

Stunting can be prevented by inreasing the know ledge of parents and prospective parents about child rearing patterns.

Assalamualaikum wr.wb
Hello everyone my name is Ega
here I will tell you about mental health for teenagers of course.

Mental health is still not taken seriously by the common people. The stigma attached to people with mental disorders is still widely found. Consulting a psychiatrist has negative connotations in society. In fact, just telling the struggle will be called lebay by most people.

Many do not realize, small responses like this have a big impact on sufferers. They can experience depression, and eventually commit suicide. Moreover, the World Health Organization (WHO) revealed, more than 800 thousand people in the world die by suicide every year.

With the most dominant age between 15 to 29 years. I admit, it is very difficult to know if someone's mental health is being disrupted. Someone who is laughing out loud, actively posting Instagram stories while walking in the mall, or people who are beside us can experience mental health problems.

Therefore, be sensitive to the conditions of those around you. If someone tells the problem, it never hurts to listen and encourage the person, more so if you want to contribute a solution. Because family, friends, friends of one organization are one of several people that a person with a mental disorder will turn to in asking for help.

Although it is important to pay attention to others, it will be much more important when we pay attention to ourselves. Mental health is not a trivial matter. Therefore, it is very important to identify one's own mental state. Because mental health is as important as physical health that needs to be treated immediately
Here I just want to remind that it's okay to not be okay, it's okay to cry, it's okay to take rest. Everyone has their own problems, everyone has their own saturation point. Take a break if you feel very tired. Do things that you feel can calm you down.

Drink the coffee in your closet, listen to the songs in your playlist, watch YouTube videos that appear in your phone notifications, chat with people you feel can encourage you.

THE IMPORTANCE OF GIVING MPASI
Assalamualaikum wr.wb. Hello everyone my name is Sabrina Nurhasanah Marpaung. I will talk about MPASI here.

Did you know that since the age of 6 months, babies need complementary foods other than breast milk?
Yes, MPASI is needed to support the baby's growth and development process.

What is MPASI?
MPASI is an additional food or complementary food for breast milk. At the age of 6 months, the baby's nutrition is not enough with breast milk alone. And also at that age, the digestive system can work
Although the baby's stomach can only hold small amounts of food, the nutrients obtained from MPASI can have a major impact on their growth in the future. Therefore, meeting the nutritional needs of complementary foods should not be ruled out by parents.
Giving MPASI is done in stages. Parents can start by introducing the soft texture of MPASI to babies, such as porridge. At the next age, introduce babies to various types of foods with different textures, such as finger food (boiled eggs, boiled vegetables, pasta, tofu, cheese, boiled tempeh tofu, etc.) and mashed rice.
During this introductory period, the mother must pay close attention to whether the child has an allergic reaction to certain foods. Like adult food, MP-ASI also needs to be given a taste with the right dose.
Companion food can begin when the baby has shown a sign of ready to eat. Babies can usually consume MPASI at the age of 6 months. As for the sign that the baby is ready to eat is: the head is upright, able to sit without help, reflexively sticking out the tongue is reduced, interested if you see people eating, trying to reach food and open their mouths if they are presented with food

How clear isn't it?
Therefore, starting giving MPASI at the right time will be very beneficial for meeting the needs of nutrients and baby development.
Okay, That's all from my explanation about MPASI.
Wassalamu'alaikum wr. wb
