My goal is to be able to do my work and complete any chores I have in a timely manner, by June 6th. I am passionate about this goal because right now I am very lazy and I procrastinate all the time. I constantly get distracted and always leave things until the very last minute because I didn't want to do it. If something is due in a week I might leave it until a day or two before it's due. So I want to be able to get stuff done without getting distracted or putting it off. I plan to achieve this goal by using tools available to me like the do not disturb feature, screen time app limits and giving my phone to a family member so I don’t go off task. In order to work better, I will try using different spaces around my house and bedroom and figuring out where I work best. If completed, this goal will help me in the future and in the long run making me more successful.

As of right now, I have begun slowly making a little bit of progress. I decided to test out some things and see how effective they are. First I put my phone on do not disturb, which silences all notifications and calls which has helped me but after some time I get curious and want to check what i missed while working. Second, I set an alarm for certain times to remind myself that I need to be doing something which has worked because even after pressing snooze, I still get a second alarm. Finally, I have time limits set on apps such as tiktok, netflix, instagram and youtube which basically shuts the app off but I can give myself 15 more minutes. My next step is to find the best workspace where I can work comfortably and not get distracted because my bed is not the right spot for me.

Up until today, I have continued using the do not disturb feature, setting time limits on certain apps, and setting alarms. I started doing work in different places because I realized my bed wasn't a good spot. I tried sitting and working on my beanbag chair. This worked a lot better than my bed because I was sitting up right and still comfortable. The problem with my beanbag chair is that it is a bit small, not giving me enough space to move my arms enough to type comfortably. The next place I am going to try working at is my kitchen table because it is a large and spacious table giving me all the room I need to move my arms/body and keep any papers or my binder handy. I do notice some progress as I've started my work about 45 minutes earlier than I normally would. As the days go on i hope to start even earlier so that i do not need to rush.

I decided that so far the most effective methods for completing this goal are the things I have done to make my phone less of a distraction. After my last entry, I decided to try out working at my kitchen table which was a mistake that set me back a little bit. It was a lot more comfortable and spacious to sit and work at but it was more distracting as I could always get up to get a snack or three. Another big distraction was the fact that my sisters were in the living room playing and watching tv. They didn't go to bed until it was late so i couldn't work and just ended up sitting on my phone until they were gone which led me to once again rush to my work. For the future I will try clearing the desk in my bedroom and working from there. I also need something to keep my surroundings quiet and almost fully blocked out.

After weeks of trying different things out, the most effective spot for me was the desk in my bedroom. It was the best spot for me to sit and work at. After turning on some music and making it loud enough, I was no longer distracted. Sadly I didn't fully accomplish my goal. While I managed to find the right work space and get rid of some distractions, I couldn't stop myself from not pressing the snooze button on the alarm or 15 more minutes on tiktok. Sometimes when I didn't understand something I would turn to my phone to take a few breaks. If I could do this again, I would try to be more determined to achieve the goal to the fullest instead of partially or almost. I learned that not getting distracted at all is practically impossible because doing homework or chores can be pretty boring for me. I also learned that I do in fact need at least one break and that I can't work for 4+ hours straight.
