The 60's are different because I don't think that people burn down campus buildings like they did then. They burned them down because they were protesting "anti-war".They are similar because I think there are still music concerts today.

The 60's are similar because we still use slang till this day. Yes It's not nearly the same but we still use it. Slang will most likely be used forever and nothing it going to stop that. People like to shorten up simple words or sentences. It's different because in the 60's people actually do what they say they are going to do. They will actually burn stuff down. They will actually hurt or kill someone. Now everyone just says stuff to be scary or funny. It's stupid and wrong. They say they're going to punch this person. The closest they'll ever get to doing it is if they are close to doing it but stop for a reaction

One way that the 60's and today's world are the same is that racism still exist and lingers around us. Black people are treated differently than whites because of their skin color. They usually don't get equal pay and people aren't as nice to them. One way the 60's are different than today is that there aren't as much big gangs around anymore; you don't hear about them on the news.

One way that to 1960s and today relate is that they have similar technology to today. Another way that it's similar is that we have similar problems with equality today but it has improved a lot. What I think is that there is always going to be problems with equality in the future but it will improve as time goes by. Something that is different is that the segregation has changed drastically in a good way. All races can go to school together freely but there will always be fights and riots and racism and tons more. I hope that in the future, society will get better and people will be closer to being actually free.

In the 60's and in some places today a similarity could be African Americans are still having problems. They had to fight and almost nobody believed in equality. However a difference is now most people realize that we are equal. Also today most people accept all races and their culture.

Similar: In the 60's there was slang. Although it was typically specific to gangs then, we still have slang today. For example, they used clique as another word for gang and we use clique as in a group of alike people that are close knit and do not really let others into their clique.
Different: Currently, people are much better with equality for women and minorities. However, in the 60's blacks were separated from whites and women had limited freedom. There was a certain expectancy for them to do housework and be loyal to their husband by doing what he says. For example, black people had to fight just to sit at a lunch table labeled "whites only" whereas now we all sit together as friends.

There are still wars going on. The difference is that now women wouldn't have to stay home and cook or clean or be a housewife, but they could also go to work, another thing is that black people don't get discriminated as much as before.

Anna Schuette In the 1960's blacks were treated differently than they are treated now. For example blacks were not supposed to go to the same bars, schools, or even ride on the same buses as whites. The blacks were not treated very good at all. Fortunately we have come a long way from the 1960's. We now realize that it is not ok to treat other people differently just because of how they look.
