More than 200 people were randomly being accused of witchcraft and more than 20 were executed. Many puritans were Christian and knew that the devil could give people evil powers. This caused families and neighbors to question each other and have suspicions. Suspicious activity was considered the work of the devil. They believed grace was the free gift of salvation. Their was different causes of witch craft including foreign influence and teenage boredom. By the end of 1692, over 200 people were accused of witch craft and 19 were killed. Arthur Miller wrote the Crucible and won a pulitzer prize. These people were Christians but their activity was not very Christian like.
