Hence, the calculating devices have been quite developed. So, the first calculator was abacus. It was developed a long time ago probably from the 300BC according to google. There are 2 sides of abacus. One is known as heaven and other is known as earth. The second was Napier’s Bones. It was invented in the 1700s by John Napier. We are able to divide, multiply, calculate square and cube roots by moving the rods around and placing them in constructed boards. It was far better than the abacus and developed 4000 years ago. Slide rule was the next one. Invented by William Oughtred in the 1600s. Basically it was used for multiplication, division, roots, logarithms, Trigonometry. And this device is not used for addition or subtraction. Next was Pascaline. Invented by Blaise Pascal in1642, Pascaline was really expensive and unaffordable. Next we have learned about Difference Engine and Analytical Engine. Difference Engine and Analytical Engine was an automatic, mechanical calculator designed to tabulate polynomial functions. it was Invented by Charles Babbage in 1822 and 1834.
