On espère que ça va bien avec vous. On a trouvé votre école beaucoup plus impressionnant que le nôtre, qui est un peu âgée et plutôt laide. Quand on a vu les images des bâtiments on été vraiment surpris, car ils on l’air d’un hôtel de cinq étoiles. Il à l’aire classique et moderne au même temps. Vous êtes vraiment chanceux car vous pouvez avoir ce type de bâtiment lorsque votre climat le permet. Ici, il y a trop de neige pour ceci. 

You have some great opportunities for sports and activities- we couldn’t believe that your school offers a surfing program. You’re so lucky to live near the ocean. We’re also pretty jealous of the climbing wall, but it’s too bad that you guys don’t get to experience our winter. In Ottawa, we can ski, sled, skate and go to cool winter festivals. In the winter, you have an excuse to eat all kinds of great food, like hot chocolate, beavertails (pictured) and poutine. Too bad that summer in France sounds even better :/

As we were looking through all of your comments, we were very impressed to see how well-rounded your curriculum is. It is also interesting to observe the contrast between our extra curriculars and yours. We can't believe that you spend your time surfing, sailing and even scuba diving! It must be so amazing to have access to the ocean during all times of year! In Canada, it is quite a different experience. We are a part of many winter sports including skiing, snowboarding, skating and certainly, hockey. Because we live in North America, we are isolated in such a way that we do not have many opportunities for exchanges or trips. The only international trip that is available to us is a two week trip to Marseille in the spring. You are so lucky to have the opportunity for travel so often! We look forward to communicating with you throughout the year and to learn more about your school!

Nous sommes très excitées pour notre échange virtuel avec vous cette année! Une chose que nous avons remarqué à propos de votre école est que son apparence est très différente que celle de la nôtre. Nous pensons que c’est vraiment intéressant que vos couloirs sont à l’extérieur! Le fait que votre école est si ouverte la rend beaucoup plus jolie et la donne une atmosphère positive! Avoir une école comme la vôtre ne serait pas possible pour nous à cause de toute la glace et la neige ici pendant l’hiver. 

We also noticed the large variety of sports and activities that your school has to offer, especially the surfing! We think it’s amazing that your school provides so many great opportunities and that there’s something for everybody to enjoy. In Colonel By, we have quite a few clubs and sports teams, but nothing as cool as rock climbing! 

Nous avons une question pour vous: Est-ce votre école est considérée comme une école typique en Marignane (ou même la France) en termes d’apparence et d’opportunités? 

Votre école est très belle et différente que la nôtre! Pour commencer, nous étions très surpris par son apparence. Ici à Colonel By, nous avons seulement une édifice dans laquelle toutes les salles de classe sont situées.  De plus, nous sommes étonnés de la longueur de vos journées et que vous avez seulement un demi-jour le mercredi. Notre jour d'école est beaucoup plus court; nous commençons à 9 :15 et finissent à 3 :15. Cependant, nos classes sont plus longues. 

Also, we wish we had as many cool trips around Europe, such as Italy, Finland, and Holland! Here at Colonel By, we only have one or two trips a year, and those are only available to some students. We would love to participate in incredible activities like surfing all year round, too, but unfortunately, the icy winter temperatures don’t allow for that here. We look forward to learning more about your school!

Nous sommes tellement heureux de faire cet échange en ligne avec vous! En regardant les postes sur Padlet de l'année dernière nous avons fait plusieurs découvertes à propos de votre vie.

Premièrement, votre école est tellement impressionnante! Lédifice était construit de façon magnifique, les activités parascolaires semble vraiment amusantes et la façon dont l'école est organisée est très différente et intéressante. Nous avons regardé une vidéo de l'année dernière où un étudiant qui faisait du surf; ça semble tellement amusante!

Also, we found your school days very interesting; you have longer school hours but you get half-days on Wednesdays!  Our school days start at 9:15 and end at 3:15 every day. The setup of your school is so nice, there are no indoor hallways which let you get fresh air throughout the day.

We look forward to meeting you all and learning more about French culture as well as your school!

We are very Excited to learn more about all of you, your culture and your school!

Johnathan, Yousuf et Khyle

As we said it is different from the other ones but not only about the space but also about  technology. Here we are better equipped on the high-tech level : all the students in “Seconde” own an iPad and they keep it until graduation.  Each classroom has a video projector and a computer that teachers can use for classes.
We also have a cafeteria which is something  many French schools don’t have, and that’s pretty cool too.

We can practice rowing since we are in an area that is appropriate to this activity. For example, in the north of France it’s harder to practice this sport.

We also think that Saint Louis is really special and we are very lucky because at the end of the year, the school proposes travels and activities with really interesting prices and we can go (almost) all over the globe !

We don’t live near the Atlantic Ocean but near the Mediterranean sea. There aren’t many waves in our region except on windy days. And we don’t have long white sandy beaches but rocks and pebbles, which is not very comfortable!

Of course, it’s easier for us to go to countries near the ocean like Spain, Portugal or in France in a famous City: Biarritz.

We practise more sailing or canoeing in the sea.

So it’s fun but we don’t surf as easily as you can imagine!
