         <title>AR-Sugar Act</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The sugar act set taxes on sugar and molasses imported into the colonies. This reduced the rate of tax on molasses from six pence to three pence per gallon, but British military was able to collect this tax, and taxed other goods like wines, coffee, cambric and printed calico and also made trading with the French, Dutch and Spanish illegal.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This act set taxes on all paper documents. The act required all documents and printed materials must possess a tax stamp by commissioned distributors who would collect the tax in exchange for the stamp. This law also taxed wills, deeds, newspapers, pamphlets playing cards and dice.</div>]]></description>

The colonist rebelled and over night members of the Sons of Liberty disgusted as Mohawk Indians boarded three ships and dumped over 92,000 pounds of tea into the Harbor.</div>]]></description>

This angered the commoners because they paid taxes but the nobles didn't. The commoners ate mostly bread but the prices upped and most went starving.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The French were divided into 3 groups called estates.They were social divisions and they impacted your social status and lifestyle. The First estate was the clergy these people worked for the churches including priest, monks and bishops. The second estate was the nobility these people held most of the high offices and didn't have to pay taxes. The Third estate were peasants, craftspeople and laborers, they had to pay taxes.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>For hundreds of years the French people had followed the Kings orders, but when the Era of enlightenment came around everything was starting to change. King Louis XVI had been losing power within the French government. He was weak with power and didn't know how bad the situation of the commoners. The third estate formed the National Assembly to force the king to make reforms, but the nobles and the King could not agree on the reforms.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Like the French the Latin Americans had a social class. There were 5 classes, the peninsulares, creoles, mestizos, mulattos and slaves. The peninsulares and creoles had the wealth, power and land in Latin America but the creoles could not hold political office. Through out many Latin American countries creoles led the Independence acts becuase they had been educated in Europe and were exposed to the Enlightenment and ideas. They were upset from Napoleon's decison of making his brother Joseph the king of Spain, so the creoles used Locke's ideas to rebel against Spain.<br><br>7-3.3 Revolutions of Latin America (Section 1)</div>]]></description>
