Another reason is because he had a "revelation" and realized the only reason he hated the person behind him was because he wanted to have intercourse with her, but knew that he would never be able to. Finally, the reason I chose Book of Revelations for the title was because he had a book in which he wrote in, that caused his revelation.

But it had to be kept a secret because if someone were to find out, Winston could vanish from his society as it's illegal to even have your own thoughts, you must obey and follow what the government believes.

The reason I chose this as the title for this chapter is because the song is supposed to be an invitation to appreciate and celebrate the simple things in life; an anthem for peace, love and all that's good in the world. Though Winston in this book is not able to do any of this because he lives in a dystopian world where free will is considered worthless and a crime that can get you killed.

Winston had good intentions of helping out Mrs. Parsons, but he was caught off guard with her kids taunting him with this word.

This chapter really shows how easily information can be changed in the fictional setting of 1984, the government is deceiving the people.

Winston Smith has lunch with another person named Syme who is currently making a new version of the Newspeak dictionary which will get rid of many words that will hopefully prevent rebellion. He goes on and on about Newspeak and how brilliant it is, but Smith knows that the Party will eventually get rid of him because he's too intelligent.

The Party had practically banned the enjoyment of it which had eventually led to Winston and his wife separating. In his diary, he recalls that time with a prostitute and says it was his biggest act of defiance against The Party.

The reason that I decided to title this chapter Troubled Mind is because one, Winston actually went through with having sex with a prostitute which surprised me for some reason. The second reason is because he realized that recording the act in his diary hasn’t decreased his anger, depression, or rebellion he still wants to shout profanities at the top of his voice, which he cannot do.

He then goes on to read children's books to see how much of history the Party had changed. Of course, he finds a lot of the history changed by the Party.

Chapter VII: Hope Within the Proles

Compared to the Brotherhood, led by Goldstein, the proles make up of 85% of the population of Oceania. However, most people in the proles are brutes, ignorant, and lead animalistic lives who lack intelligence and energy to fight the thought police..

I chose this title because it shows the lengths that the government will go through to conceal the truth from the public. This can be seen, as there is an actual job position at the Records Department of the Ministry of Truth. Winston works here and it is his job to rewrite the negative events that are caused by the government. The government is trying to maintain a false image of themselves through lying and changing information.

In his dystopian world, having opposition thoughts to the government is a crime and you can be persecuted for doing so. He is risking his life by secretly documenting his free thoughts in a journal which will be a disaster if caught. This is why he has a diary of a thought criminal.

Chapter II: Generational Shift

In Chapter II, I name it the Generational Shift because the next generation of this society is shown to be completely brain washed. Their ideology is fully shifted from their parents. We know this because when Winston came over to Mrs. Parson's house to help fix the sink, he saw her children being full of Big Brother's influence, which is different from his generation.
