Even though a lot of films had loads of great parts to them, this one felt very professional and well put together. I liked the story that they wrote, as it fit well into their Sci-Fi genre. It had great cinematography and you can tell that each shot was well planned and thought out. It also had great editing and transitions. The transitions were one of the best things about it, as their seamless cuts worked perfectly and were super smooth. They didn't have the best sound design (compared to the quality of the rest of the film), but they had a really professional sounding piano score going through the whole film that worked really well. They didn't use the prop that significantly, but it still contributed well to the film, as well as the acting which was definitely the best out of all the films, in my opinion. Overall, it was just really well finished and put together. The concept is a simple one but it's executed so well. Everything from establishing the adversarial relationships in the real world and the friendly/comforting relationship with her headphones was well directed and shot. There was incredible work done with the lighting to transition between the real world and the headphone world. The only aspects that could have been improved are the sound and a few editing points but they didn't take away from the overall structure of the film. I really enjoyed the ending. Even if it wasn't a twist, the entire film built up to that point so well, and the switch between the two was so visually intriguing. The only other thing that may have somewhat been distracting was the performance in the film, but the main performers were able to execute the increasing frequency of heightened emotions so well that I didn't find the other performances to be a major breaking point. I love the usage of lighting and color-grading to create these two different realities within the film. The usage of all black costuming to depict artificial intelligence, the usage of leveling in proxemics towards the end paints a shift in roles. The cinematography almost felt professional. However, the storyline is what solidifies this film as number 1 for me. The perfect plot twist ending, the reliability within the feeling of loneliness, the depiction of escapism are all so good.
