I like the idea of using questionnaires, surveys, and interviews to get direct feedback from parents/families about their knowledge of special ed. It would be a great way to gauge their understanding and interest in being involved in the process. For parents with different linguistic background, it would be necessary to have these forms be translated.
Holding workshops and meetings with groups of parents would also be helpful, and it encourages parents/families to be more directly involved with the school.

~Rachel

I would have open and frequent communication with the parent about their child's progress. I will try to give the parents as many progress report updates that are backed by data. I would encourage parents to work on skills at home with their children, in order for them to see deficits clearly for themselves.
In terms of linguistics, I would ensure that any information would be translated properly. It is important to be sensitive to the culture of the student because many cultures do not have a full understanding of special education or have a very negative view point on the label of special ed.
-Paul
