My kids are passionate about science because I've brought them to the Science Festival since I was a kid, and I have stimulated them to do so. Last time we went to the Planetarium and participated in the lab on the seasons ... now we have organized a guided tour of the astronomical observatory of our city. I stimulate children and girls alike, avoiding using materials that enhance stereotyped roles (including not just books but also drawings, images or accompanying texts) or assigning productive and active roles to males and relegating passive roles and support to females.

Most of the students I spoke to regarding their potential future career nearly all revolved around the medical area with two wanting to opt for architecture and another into chemical engineering. Having said so, I always tell them that it is important to keep an open eye for new possibilities and opportunities. No one knows what life paths life may lead us into. At school there are events were various people of different scientific backgrounds come and talk about their profession and this is mainly catered for year 12 students. Such videos and other apps may be used as lesson starters to help increase motivation.

Until the age of 15 in the educational system of the country, unfortunately there is no career planning. my students need to know the engineering areas in a qualified way. but the programs do not allow that much. firstly we have to introduce hydrologist or meteorologist professions. My students are 11-14. We can work on the main features of climate changes and get to talk about our supply of water as in our area it's already a problem especially during summer months. Owing to drought and old water pipelines we are often short of water. For exemple owing to a big breaking in water pipes we were short of water in town and at school just one week ago and in August too. So I can introduce hydrologists as an important scientific profession, maybe a future precious one. Unfortunately in Italy our councils and firms don't offer valid jobs to geologists, so I suppose there is no work for hydrologists as well.

At present I have no students interested in becoming meteorologists or hydrologist, but students interested in becoming inventors and others who want to explore and understand phenomena.

I think talking to children of the importance of these professionals while analyzing climate change and the damage they make during school years could entice some kid to think of becoming it. It would be even more engaging to have a classroom practitioner who would teach children and talk about his work.

I really like the "Careers chapter" of every module because I think it is very important we open the eyes to our students about different professions. They usually take account only the traditional jobs as teacher, doctor or chemist but I consider they will be interested in these careers as meteorologist or hydrologist if we explain their characteristics.

I seldom ask my students about their future careers. It happens, though, they tell me. Many of the students focusing on science have a broad spectre of interest. I am not aware if any of my students are interested in becoming a meteorologist / hydrologist, but I think they are interesting jobs that really affect our daily life. In fact some people always complain about the weather forecast not being accurate, but they do not really understand why or how hard it is to do it. Even in the tv broadcast the people giving the weather forecast is not people prepared in these areas (unfortunately, almost all of them are women that are only selected by their physical traits).
I think that a way to raise awareness of the importance of these careers is to show them the effects and how information and preparation can help avoid human loses and infrastructure damages due to weather conditions.

I think most of the students have an idea of what a meteorologist is, but few will know what it means to be a hydrologist. Interestingly, hydrology may be a more important subject here in Singapore, where water is scarce. I like the video of Clare Yeo and may show it in one or more of my classes. Although there are no forest fires here in Singapore, we are all affected when there are a lot of forest fires in Indonesia and the wind blows in the "wrong" (i.e. our) direction. It is interesting to note how everything is related.

I remember one of the coolest courses at Un related to watery soils like river sides, but am afraid in my Country there are not much job posts for meteorologists or hydrologists (even though there should be!!!) nevertheless, the topic of this section would be to show pupils some amazing and interesting carreers and point of views which maybe they did not even know of!!! And that is a key point! PS: i also appreciated some tips about how to arrange class work with gender balance.

In my town, there was only one school that prepared meteorologists. Currently, this qualification is an option for few students. But they are more interested in activating in the field of environmental protection, perhaps because the offer of higher education is quite attractive in this field. As our students study at hospitals, we have no way of communicating with them for a long time. But when it comes to topics related to climate change, water and nature resources, biodiversity, we talk about professions that are related to the topic. It has ever happened that a student was especially interested in Meteorology. So, I did a Meteorology course at AEMET (http://www.aemet.es/es/portada) and I also sought collaboration at the University of Burgos. We got a weather station and we developed a very nice project.
