I took this picture in front of a Japan restaurant in Shoreditch. As a part of my Welcome Week task, I was looking for some typographies and this one had my attention. The letters first feel like Japanese letters but then it becomes obvious that it's just the font style and written in English. I thought that for a Japanese rest was a very smart and interesting font style to use and it definitely grabbed my attention.

What excites me about the brief is that I will be making use of my creativity and I will be able to communicate through visually in 3 different ways. Plus I am really interested in learning Typography.

My user experience skills will be useful with my design process, especially in the research phase. I've worked with double diamond almost in my all projects as a UXer so knowing process will definitely will help.

I will be exploring a different kind of posters, publications, animations and suitable themes for my selected poem. I quite excited about this actually because I don't really have experience with creating posters, animations, etc.

I would like to develop my Typography skills and have a deeper knowledge about it. I am keen to practice more hand drawing. I have solid experience with Adobe XD, Sketch and Figma so I am very excited to learn and master new software, Adobe InDesign. I am also curious about 2D and 3D techniques. I want to improve my skills especially in digital and working in analogue will be also useful and challenging.

My scope of ambition is making sure that my design communicates in a right way with the audience and gives the message that I intend to give. I want to solve the right design problems by following universal design principles.
In the first phase of my research, I am planning to look at practitioners like Lakwena, Regular Practice, Rejane Dal Bello, Johnny Hannah, Marion Bisserier, Studio Nari, Spin, Marion Deuchars, Kurt Schwitters, Jim Flora, Alan Kitching, Ceri Amphlett, Phil Baines, A2/SW/HK, Nina Chakrabarti, Berthold Wolpe, Daan Rietbergen, Rob Ryan, Rejane Dal Bello, Graham Rawle, Ian Smith. I would have additional practitioners to research during the process. I would be interested in finding practitioners that have a common audience and try to give a similar message as me.

I believe my target audience is people who either witnessed or experienced gender stereotypes, especially teenagers, LGBT members and young people. I would reach my audience via social media, surveys and survey platforms. After initial research, I might be able to find more ways to interact with them.

I think my style tile reflects me pretty well, I like simplicity and elegance in my designs and also in my everyday life. Finding the right career path is a challenging process but I believe I overcame it. My design career started with UX design and I think it suits some of my characteristics like empathy, usability fan, being a team player and I really love everything about UX and it actually motivated to me learn more about design as a whole and master other design practices like Graphic design. Being a both UX and Graphic designer is and will be a huge part of who I am.

The episode was interesting and insightful. He reminded me that typography is everywhere and we just need to look around us a bit more. It was interesting for him to examine the typefaces used in old watches and I loved the typeface called "Decimal" and it was fascinating to see it's development. I had no idea how much research and effort went into designing a new typeface and witnessing all the process is indeed very exciting.

I tried the risograph printing for the first time and it was quite fascinating. Apparently it is quite different than classic printers and in my opinion it requires a bit of more care and effort to set it up.
Some facts are:
First of all it uses a soy ink to print,

after printing you might have wait a bit to let it dry,

if you want to erase the printed piece you can actually do it!! (weird!!),

you have to use an uncoated paper instead of a classic laser printing paper.

It was really nice to use the machine by ourselves, we learned how to change the ink, setting up the master, etc.
