Significance: South was very happy with the new fugitive slave law but angered the north because of it. The fugitive slave law was a large part to the Civil War.

Description: After the south had been complaining that the first fugitive slave law was very poorly enforced, they finally got to have a new and more enforced one made during the compromise of 1850. This new law said that all black runaway slaves were to be returned to the south and the person that captured the slave would be given a reward for it. Which then cause people to force free black people back to the south. After this law was passed it very much pleased the south while making the North very mad and angry about it.
