Acadia was considered to be French even though it hadn't been won or surrendered to them. Britain took control of Acadia in 1713, having won a war against France. Britain did not want to be partners with the First Nations people, the Mi'kmag war began and continued until 1752. The French also continued to fight against the British. In 1720 the French built a huge fort called Louisbourg, it was captured by Britain in 1745. In 1748 the French regained it. In 1749 Britain built a fort in Halifax.
