I have this friend, Davi, and he’s obsessed with movies. I think he’s watched everything. Old classics, new releases, random indie films no one’s ever heard of, he’s seen it all. And for as long as I’ve known him, he’s had this big dream of becoming a movie director.

Recently, he actually got into this cinema course, which is a big deal. Besides theory, all the students had to make their own movie. Write it, film it, direct it, they had to make everything from scratch. Davi spent hours working on ideas, rewriting scenes, traveling just to find the perfect spots to shoot. It was intense, but he never lost focus. He had his eyes on the prize.

When it was finally time to show the movies, we were all so nervous for him. He didn’t get first place, but he did get third, which is still amazing considering all the effort he put in. Honestly, I think this is just the start for him.

Last week, I got a piece of advice from my girlfriend Ana Beatriz. I was spending a lot of money in foolish things, and after 5 days I had received my salary, I was a little low on cash, really. Ana Beatriz was upset with me. But, as she is a very nice girlfriend and she really cares about me and about our future, she said: "My love, if you really want to get married with me, you have to save money for our wedding. In 2024, I set out to elevate my performance on the tennis court.
I immersed myself in training, watching technique videos and taking professional lessons. Despite the effort, I didn’t see the results I hoped for, especially during the tournaments I participated in.

After reflecting and speaking with friends, including an old former tennis coach, I realized something crucial:
My focus was on the wrong place. I had been chasing technical perfection, but what I truly needed was a shift in mindset, to keep my eyes on the prize. That meant focusing on winning, not just improving technique. I began adapting my game to each opponent, playing smarter and more strategically.

With this renewed focus, I ended 2024 by winning my last tournament. It was a powerful reminder that clarity of purpose and mental discipline can be just as important as physical skill.

A long time ago, I needed a certification to get promoted at work. My manager gave me three months for that.

During this time, I had to stay focused and keep my eyes on the prize, otherwise, I would lose the promotion.

In the end, I was able to take the test and get my certification. I'm still grateful for the "push" my boss gave me, lol.

So, last weekend I had this beach tennis championship with my mother.

We were super excited, but also kinda nervous… the sun was strong and there were so many good players!

Right before the first match, I looked at my mom and said,

“Let’s keep our eyes on the prize, okay? No stress, just focus!”

We gave our best in every game. Even when we felt tired or made mistakes, we didn’t give up.

We were focused and had fun too. And in the end we won the final match!

I think when we play together and believe in ourselves, great things happen.

I really wanted to win the volleyball game. My team had never won before, but I kept my eyes on the prize. I practiced every day, even when I was tired. Sometimes I missed the ball, and sometimes I felt like quitting. But I didn’t stop. On the day of the game, I played hard, helped my team, and did my best. In the end, we won! I was so happy. Keeping my eyes on the prize helped me stay strong and not give up.

I want to get a good grade in Calculus 1. I'm studying Economics and I need a strong academic record. But one obstacle I often face is weekend parties. Every weekend, my friends get together to go to a club, a bar, or just hang out. These occasions cost me hours I could dedicate to studying. Starting this weekend, I promised my friend Dimitri that I'll only go out after getting a good score on my Calculus 1 exam. Eyes on the prize! Until then, I'll just stay home and study.
