How can I apply my learning on this module to create a Personal Digital Strategy which supports my control of my digital presence?

As a digital citizen, I must develop a personal digital strategy that allows me to maintain control over my online presence (Ross, 2017). I learned how to properly develop a plan that incorporates digital activities to extend my online presence while working on this -portfolio. Through setting up and marketing myself on Linkedin, completing E-tutorials, reinventing the Privacy Policies of the social media application BeReal, and creating an Infographic based on My Digi Life improved my digital strategy and online presence.

Firstly, I started the e-portfolio by logging back onto Padlet as a documenting tool for assessment (Fuchs, 2014). Secondly, I started my project by going through all of the information on this topic in Brightspace. I discovered Linkedin, a social networking platform which is essential for presenting myself professionally and for connecting with employers and colleagues. Linkedin is a social networking service that focuses on professional networking and career advancement (Van Dijck, 2013). LinkedIn allows you to post your resume, seek for employment, and improve your professional profile. I found the process of setting up an account and marketing myself on LinkedIn rather simple. There were useful and helpful “how to set up” videos posted on Brightspace which made the process a lot easier. On the other hand, it did take some time to set up because there were numerous portions to complete. I uploaded information about work experience and a portrait photo of myself. It was simple to find, add, and message co-workers and friends on LinkedIn. I now have made 6 connections on LinkedIn so far. Even though it was my first time, I found the experience to be educational, informative, and satisfying. In the future, I will undoubtedly use LinkedIn to further my career.

The next step in the e-portfolio involved progressing onto the e-tutorials in Brightspace. I began this task by examining the twelve interactive slides from the first e-tutorial, "Fundamental Social Media Analytics for Research." Following these slides was a ten-question quiz. Initially, I found the quiz to be quite tough, but after a couple of attempts I eventually conquered the quiz. From here, I then moved onto the second e-tutorial which was also followed by another ten-question quiz. The title of the second e-tutorial was "Data Visualisation for Novice Researchers". This also had twelve interactive slides which incorporated the answers to the quiz which followed. After three attempts I passed the quiz. I was pleasantly surprised to see that these e -tutorials were very simple to browse, informative, and up to date, and that I learned a lot by completing the quizzes.

The next step was to reinvent private policy (Winkler, 2016). This was all explained how to do in a link that was posted on Brightspace. I reinvented the social media privacy policy of the social media application of BeReal. First. I read Anderson's (2017) essay on “Instagram’s privacy policy so children and parents can have a meaningful talk about privacy”. This was an educational and insightful post. I then wrote a privacy policy that addresses the needs and wishes of a user (Custers, 2014). My privacy policy addresses the 5 Rights outlined in Anderson (2017). I then posted my private policy on Padlet.

My Padlet had doubled in size because of the digital work I had completed by this point. Therefore, I went on to my final digital project, which was to create an infographic called My Digi Life. Before I could finish the process, I had to decide whether to utilise Canva or Piktochart for my infographic. I had never used either of these social apps before, so I chose one at random, which turned out to be Canva. Canva is a social application that combines graphic design, picture editing, and hundreds of customisable themes (Gehred, 2020). I was pleasantly impressed by the quantity of material available and how simple it was to produce, link, and share content, as well as cooperate online. On Brightspace there were “how to set up” videos which made the process of setting up an account and creating a template very easy. The video brought me through how to select a canvas, add pictures, customise images and add text. I found this to be incredibly educational and fun to do. This was the most fun and enjoyment I had when completing this portfolio. I learned new editing skills and photo editing which I will carry forward in life. I had a lot of fun creating an infographic and I found it very easy to use Canva to make the infographic and I learned a lot by doing so! This was my first time ever using Canva and it has been something I have always wanted to do so being able to do it a part of this module is a fantastic opportunity.

As I advanced through the numerous social applications and e-tutorials, I felt my confidence improve as I learned how to use, navigate, and learn via all of the accessible activities. This brought me great enjoyment and I really seized the opportunity given to me by expanding my online presence through my digital strategy (Peppard, 2016). I am still optimistic that I will continue to learn about new digital strategies that will aid me in the future.

I can conclude after completing this e-portfolio that it presented some obstacles which I was able to overcome it was a very enjoy full and interesting task. I feel that these activities have profusely supported on my learning of how to create a digital strategy which aided in my control of my digital presence, and I can really feel I will be able to use these skills in the future.

Bibliography:

Custers, B., van der Hof, S., & Schermer, B.
