-different companions learned the Quran from Prophet in different recitations
-then they taught their students according to what they learned
-with the spread of Islam,  the difference of recitation spread as well. 
-because of the knowledge of different recitation was not well known in the new lands, so its started  leading a lot of confusion

- Uthman ordered Zaid Bin Thabit, Abdullah bin Az-zubair, Said bin Al-as and    Abdurrahman bin Harith to rewrite the manuscripts in perfect copies like they placed the Surahs in the sequence that we have today in one copy
- Uthman said to the 3 companions, if they disagree Zaid on any point of the Quran, then write it in the dialect of Quraysh.
- When they had written many copies, Uthman returned the original manuscripts to Hafsa.
- Uthman sent the copies to every Muslim province one copy of the Quran.
- Uthman ordered that all the Qur'anic materials whether written in fragmentary manuscripts or whole copies, be burnt.

-  This action must be taken to prevent these argument on a larger scale.
