After welcomings, introductions and expectations we had an icebreaker activity by Louise Bonadie (a consultant from Merganser Consulting Ltd - the company that organized this course).

Frank Courtney (managing director of Merganser Consulting Ltd ) had a lecture about the english educational system with its key issues and new developments.
After that we had workshops depending on the course theme module groups so mine was  Leadership .

After lunch we spend the afternoon in Bath for a cultural experience. A part of that was the experiential learning about Bath, guided by Andrew Camp, the course leader.

I have to say that school visits are always a privilege because it helps me to understand how the educational system works in practice.

Norton Hill is a higly respected school and its students achieve grades that are above average. OFSTED report says that in overall effectiveness school is good, with some outstanding aspects.

School leadership is very effective and I saw some aspects of it. In particular, I was interested about the way they use ICT to support learning-teaching process.

We gave some feedback informations and discussion of associated educational issues.

After that it was time for another round of thematic workshops. My group was working on leadership  with David Groucher who is the head teacher of Oldfield Park Junior School.

Afternoon was the time for group work tasks. I was in a group with two ladies from Portugal and we had to prepare a presentation for Friday.

Next year they will celebrate 125 years of the school that was founded in 18th century.
The school is not big but they are pretty special because of the quality school management. It took only about two years for the new management to turn from school that needs improvement to a good school by OFSTED (Office for Standards in Education). That is very big achievement for such a short time.

After that we have to complete the group tasks and to have a group presentations following up by a discussion.
 
After formal course evaluation and administrative tasks we were given a course certificates which was an official conclusion of the course.
