A thing i learned is that back then a crime as big as murder of a child did not matter enough to people to the point the kidnappers and murders of Emmett were found not guilty even after killing Emmett, a way it relates to TKAM is how people would treat African Americans horrible and nobody would seem to care except for a few kind hearted people like Atticus

Something I learned from the article is that at the time, white men believed everything white women said with no questions asked. It really showed what the beliefs were during that time. This story is similar to TKAM because they both have to do about racism in two very similar situations. In TKAM a white woman said a black man did something to her and he was immediately seen as guilty just because of the color of his skin.

I learned that justice isn't what everyone thinks it is. People are judged and found guilty without a fair trial. While others that are guilty are not convicted because of the color of their skin.

I learned that the time period back then was heavily harsh on foreign or black people, and that is similar to "To Kill A Mockingbird" because people wouldn't give the same treatment to black people that they did white people, because both the story and the article were set in the same time period, meaning they had roughly the same treatment for black people.

I learned how terrible the world treated one another all from your skin color. Till's case is similar to TKAM's case with Tom Robinson in multiple different ways. To sum it up, both are cases where a white man harms the black man because of an accusation coming from that white man's relative. TKAM shows similarities to Till's case due to the racial elements and the disrespect to the other color.

I learned how bad it was in the south. Like we are taught about it and hear about it but we really never hear how evil it actually was. It's just disgust me how someone could kill someone, admit to it, and still get away with it. It's just sad that people had to go through things like this just because of their skin color. And it really just showed me how unfair the court system was. Just like in how to kill a mockingbird, when the man talks about how they should take his word about what happened in a situation instead of actually bring justice to the situation.

I learned that emmett's death still with an unsolved case add a spark to the civil rights movement, also what I learned from the article was that Emmit case was reopened after a book was published saying that the woman lied about Emmit, and that his case was closed because there were similar cases like emmett's that couldn't be solved do to racism and influence in the government some of those cases related to emmett's case were never solved even after they found the men who did the crime but didn't get time for murder, or for or nether did the other colored people with cases similar to the crime committed in emmett. This story is somewhat like TKAM because they both talk about racism and how it can lead to death and violence.

I learned the similarities the stories both had which were being misunderstood. Emmitt was misunderstood because of whistling and Boo Radley was misunderstood for being scary and dangerous when in reality, he wasn't like that.
