In the textbook it says “In great monastic universities that attracted monks from as far away as China, Korea, and Japan a form of Buddhism known as Tantrism of Vajrayana was cultivated” For those who still practiced buddhism in South Asia Vajrayana was the central teaching with the focus on Bodhisattvas pictures above. Bodhisattvas become very important and very prevalent in South Asian artwork known for infinite compassion and its style has been seen in china, japan, and korea its all depicted the same way. Bronze, and details are all very common in vajrayana buddhist art. By this time Buddhism was no longer a major cultural force in India.

Hinduism was becoming increasingly popular in India during this time and with that was developed the hindu temples. But there was a lot of religious diversity in India so the Elephant stables was a structure that had both traditional hindu south indian architecture and Islamic architecture which included arches and domes. This reminds me in the storyof india:freedom because the british themselves were very interested to the mixed hindu-muslim culture as it says in 14:32 there was a nice intertwine between them.

1526 is when the Mughal empire was established and Akbar , the grandson of ex-ruler Babur, was the ruler. Power is now in the hands of Akbar who also begins patronizing the artistic culture in India as cosmopolitan, openness and learning. In the textbook it says “ Akbar enjoyed religious discourse and loved the arts”. He created a workshop of painters and the influences of initial Mughal painting were from Persion and Indian painting.

Jahangir was Akbar's son and successor; he loved paintings and was a connoisseur of painting. He continues a big emphasis on creating art but the type he focuses on is portraiture and detailed naturalism he wants to detail all aspects of life at his court in his artwork. In this genre we see a lot of the ideas behind paintings stem from European art. In this time we also see more credit to the artist and artists names are incorporated into the artwork.

It was from the northern region of India there were a ton of smaller independent kingdoms that were established near where the Mughal rule was. In here the god Krishna is flirting with the cowherd Gopis. This style uses intense color it gives a strong vibrating sensation of emotion. They use stylization like the eyes are huge and cartoonish and express the gaze of love. They have sharp and rhythmic lines and the trees are conventionalized; they aren't trying to look like they are supposed to; it's supposed to be a specific pattern.
