The Lorax fled from Florida to Tennessee to stay safe from the hurricane! He came back home to Coral Springs to find that this natural disaster has knocked down some trees. This applies to APES because this was the aftermath of a natural disaster, Hurricane Irma. It also applies because hurricanes form depending on environmental factors such as wind speed, temperature, and location.

In our very own APES classroom, the Lorax looks through owl pellets only to discover there is a skull from a rodent! This applies to APES because it shows us the biodiversity in some environments and the different animals that can coexist in the same area.

While coming home, the Lorax stopped and found a conservation area. This was put in place to protect the land and the biodiversity within the conservation area. This is relative to APES because the conservation area was set up to protect the environmental life within in.

The Lorax spots an invasive species.

While studying for midterms at the library, the Lorax spotted an invasive species. The Leiocephalus carinatus, or the Curlytail Lizard, was native to the Bahamas but was brought to Florida to control the sugar cane pests. This is relative to APES because invasive species often throw off the biodiversity of an area.
