INTRODUCTION

Hi everyone! My name is Jewyls. I am majoring in business accounting but I am planning to change over to a major in graphic design. Total opposites right? I have always had an interest in graphic designs but didn't realize until very recently that I could actually make a career out of it as well. So as glad as I am that I had realized before I graduated, it is pushing me back a couple years. I am currently working part time in an office for a trucking company in Lodi while also participating in my own hobbies pretty much all the time. One fun fact about me is that I am actually a huge k-pop fan and have been for years. My main hobby is actually creating and organizing bulk orders of items to send out to others all over the US.

When I think about sustainability, I would just imagine how many different ways one can keep something sustainable. I imagine those recycling, whether that be plastics, glass, or literally any item out there. Like reusing items for other purposes other than the one intended for. Sustainability to me is something that I think actually keeps the planet afloat. I am constantly reusing different items around my house for other things while also recycling the basics.

When it comes to information literacy, if I'm going to be completely honest, I know close to nothing about this.

I would like to learn more about what information literacy really is and how it is important to us just as being sustainable is.

TOPIC PROPOSAL

Mental health is such a known topic yet not talked about enough. For my topic, I'd like to talk about how having our pets by our side help improve our mental health which in the long run holds a huge part in our own well being. This fits into the social pillar of our sustainability.

Although the social pillar of sustainability is the least looked after, our mental health plays a crucial role when it comes to the other two pillars. Without being in the right mindset, one would find it hard to remain filling their every duties to the fullest potential. Being raised all my life with a furry companion by my side has shown me how beneficial it is to have a pet. This could involve people of all ages, but I'd like to focus this on teenagers and young adults since we are essentially the future. How we turn out will affect our future. This would also be focused on the US since I definitely believe that pets are most normalized and most common here. I think the has developed since nowadays it's more common for a household to have a pet rather than to not. This is important to me because I have experienced the positive sides of my dogs firsthand and how it has affected me. I hope to learn with this research how it has affected others and how different the outcomes may be.
