In this stage of development... it occurs from birth to 12-18 months. In this stage the infant is very dependent on their caregiver. When I was born I slept in a crib in my parents room. I was almost always in one of their arms and cried when I was not with them. They then started to put me in another room so I got used to not being with them all the time. Trust is what helped me

This second stage of development is when the child is a toddler. They start to have more trust and can do things on their own. I started playing by myself and doing things on my own and this gave my parents time to do the things they needed to get done. I did not have shame

This third stage of development occurs what Erikson calls the "play age". This stage is when you are able to understand when you did something wrong though you might try to lie or hide it. In this stage I remember trying to take toys from my school so I could have them at home but got in trouble, this stage taught be discipline and honesty. Guilt helped me in this stage, it taught me to tell the truth.

This forth stage typically happens from ages 5 to 11 when kids are beginning school. This is when a child develops new skills and they have a little confidence. This is when kids find out they can actually do things. I relate to this by accomplishing things in school and always trying to be one of the top students, this taught me confidence and reliability.

This fifth stage occurs from ages 12 to 18. This is when kids start to explore their independence and develop and sense of self. I was in 6th grade when I finally grew and lost my baby fat. I started to become more confident and I cared about how I looked all the sudden. It was nice to like what I looked like and feeling older. I was not confused, so my identity and how I looked is what helped me in this stage

In this last stage, it usually happens from the age of 65 until death. This is about the time that these humans have a change in their health. They might have to adjust and do things a different way, or they might have to have someone take care of them. I relate to this because my grandmother had to have a hospital type bed in her daughters home. She had to be fed by us, changed by us, and everything else.
