Types of DNA casework:
Serology-detects and characterizes body fluids such as blood and semen
Nuclear DNA- identifies or excludes an individual from DNA evidence found. This also tests whether or not it is a male or female through a Y-chromosome analysis which the Y is found in only males.
Mitochondrial DNA- anyone in the maternal lineage will have he same mtDNA profile. Usually can find this in naturally shed hairs, hair fragements, bones, and teeth.
