* Losses in learning.

Furthermore, most countries have highly unequal education systems, and the poorest children will be the most affected. It will rain in the wet for them.

2.   Propose at least two different solutions to those issues.

* Each country must set high learning goals for the levels of the educational system, which guide it and make it monitor and evaluate the achievements. A few years ago, many of our educational systems in Latin America created extensive curricula, which described in detail what subjects should be taught each year. However, it was not very clear which areas of knowledge the students mastered in each grade and which competencies and had to be developed. Now, the objective is to create clear learning goals, in which governments define the guidelines for each course, the topics that will be worked on, and the skills that will be developed.

* All students enter the system ready to learn. But there is a great deal of bibliographic evidence about the importance of the first years of life in brain development, which affects learning and relationship skills. When children are born they have the same abilities, regardless of their socioeconomic background. However, after a year and a half, the difference begins to open up; and at five years of age, there is a large gap between children who have received a good diet and who have been pedagogically encouraged. Therefore, it is necessary to invest from the moment the child has been conceived, with attention to mothers and then with attention to the newborn baby, so that all children have the same opportunities.

* It is essential that all students have access to effective teachers. The teacher is the most important agent for children to learn the necessary skills. However, in our region, not all students have access to effective teachers, on the one hand, because teaching has not been an attractive or well-paid career; and on the other hand, because we have not laid the foundations to select and train the most talented people to enter teaching. This combination has led us to the fact that today our systems do not have the necessary talent to do the most important work. So, the goal is to train and prepare, so that students are educated by the most capable people.

* An effort must be made so that schools have the materials they need, the infrastructure, and an environment conducive to learning. This is not a sufficient condition, but it is a necessary one. In many advanced systems, this no longer comes into discussion, or when it does, they are discussions that seem extreme to us. For example, if the environment is designed to generate the interactions achieved. In our region, although this would be ideal to think about in the future, the priority is to check if we have bathrooms, water, electricity, and Internet access. There are certain basic conditions that all establishments must-have, which include technology, and teaching materials that are useful and relevant.

* It is important that all graduates leave prepared for the labor market and that they are able to contribute socially. Education is a right of citizens and it is a duty of the State to provide it and ensure that citizens have access. But it also has to be a tool for social mobility, so that graduates can earn a living and be self-sustaining. Therefore, it is essential to build a link between education and work, so that training is relevant and useful to young people, for an increasingly demanding labor market.

* Yes I do, because thank God I have parents who can give me the right to education.
