On the 14th of October the congress created a document called the Declaration and Resolves of the First continental congress. This explained why colonists had to take up arms against the British in the Revolution. Though the colonists had respectful behavior in colonization helping the British fight the French-Indian war, the British still forced taxes upon the colonies. The Deceleration talks about how the British can, "of right make laws to bind us in all cases whatsoever," which is completely unjust for the colonists. The document talks about how the British law is Hippocratic, saying how they claim the colonists are "rebels" while the British wreak havoc on the colonies, such as burning Charleston. The colonists even sent a peaceful petition, which the king ignored. The content of this pamphlet attempted to persuade the colonies to become completely independent from the undeniable force of Britain. Paine says that to keep, "her future happiness(that is the of the colonies)," they must come together and take up arms against the crown. The King made it sound as if the colonists owed the Crown their allegiance. The King called the colonists, "ill-designing men," and stated they were in complete rebellion for going against the acts of the British. Furthermore, the King was mainly talking about events such as the Boston Tea Party.
