Throughout the argument Walter tries to dominate the conversation by belittling everything he can about George. At the end George makes the "Prometheus" comment that he knows Walter won't understand. He gave man fire and Zeus punished him by chaining him to a rock and everyday sending an eagle to eat his liver. A connection could be made with Walters alcoholism and the eagle eating out  Prometheus's liver mostly because drinking in heavy amounts can cause liver damage.
