Beer Style: German Pilsner
Beer Name: Mike’s Pilsner
Description/Tasting Notes:
6.90% ABV. This pilsner is part of a project to highlight Pilsner malts with a group that I meet with. I was lucky to pick Salzgitter Pilsner, which Tyler carries, and has now become my go to pilsner malt. It was chosen as one of the more likable pilsners in the project, not through my fault, we all used a single recipe. I think it is clean and drinkable, maybe a little high in ABV for a lawn mower beer, but it will provide a reward once the lawn is done. Enjoy!

Beer Style: Lichtenhainer
Beer Name: Lazy Sunday Lichtenhainer
Description/Tasting Notes:
3.5% ABV. Lichtenhainer is a historical German beer style that is a refreshing mash up of several styles. It is a light bodied wheat beer that balances dry smoke with a clean lactic sourness. Brewed with one third Pilsner malt, one third wheat malt, and one third smoked malt. The smoked malt was a combination of malts smoked with apple, beech wood, and cherry. The wort was kettle soured with lactobacillus for 24 hours before boiling. The lactic sourness replaces hop bitterness, so a small addition of Saaz at the start of the boil contributes just 5 IBUs.
This beer punches above its weight class in flavor versus ABV and pairs well with backyard barbeques on a lazy Sunday.

The “Papa Zaka SMaSH” APA. 40 IBU. Brewed 5/9/26.
I hope you enjoy this experimental recipe that pushed me far outside of my comfort zone. It was truly a batch of firsts. Up until recently, I had never made a SMaSH, brewed with Golden Promise, heard of Azacca hops, pitched Voss Kveik, fermented hot at 85 to 90 degrees, done just a 30 minute boil, or desired to make an American Pale Ale.
This brew was an attempt to maximize orange and citrus flavors and aromas with the Voss Kveik and Azacca combination. Looking forward to your comments.
Azacca hops are named after the Haitian Voodoo god of agriculture. Commonly referred to as Zaka, or Papa Zaka, he is considered to be the protector of peasants and hard workers.
Cheers!

This was the second beer I have brewed, and with summer coming up I wanted to have a nice easy sipping beer. I found a cream ale recipe on Brewfather and adjusted it for my setup. I also got some great pointers at TrueBrü.
I named it after my cow dog Scout, who ate half a bag of grain from my first batch. The brew day for this was smooth. I want to refine this recipe a bit, so I am hoping to hear people’s thoughts on how this could be improved.
As far as tasting notes go, I found that it did taste extremely similar to Spotted Cow, but that it was a bit more crisp.
Final Brewfather recipe:
https://share.brewfather.app/2JkCZ9baZWzdmu
