Tim made the sacrifice to do the rest of the way without his father and take the cattle all the way back home and to deal with the cow-boys to keep everything his father has worked for safe to make sure the tavern can stay up.

Tim- he made a sacrifice sorta when he took the gun from Sam he sacrificed their relationship.
Sam- he made a sacrifice when he chose to go fight for what he believed in when he knew it might make his father upset.
Father- he made a sacrifice when he decided to go up ahead and look out for cowboys becuase he could of got hurt.

Father made a sacrifice when he decided to ride up ahead to look out for cow-boys. He knew that he could have gotten taken or killed and he decided to do it anyways so Tim wouldn’t get hurt.
Sam made a sacrifice when he decided to go fight for what he believed in even though it could have made his father very upset and he could die.
Tim made a sacrifice by giving up his childhood ways to be able to help out around the tavern and not arguing about what needs to be done.

Father made a sacrifice to ride ahead of Tim and look for cowboys so Tim would stay safe. Tim sacrificed his childish ways and comforts to take care of his mother and the tavern. Sam sacrificed his relationship with his father so he could fight for what he believes in.

I think the character that makes a lot of sacrifices is Tim. He went and drove the oxen through the snow alone, and outsmarted the cowboys. He is taking charge and being good. ^{such a sad story tho}
