Benefits: Having opportunities to practice a variety of skills rather than having a more “focused” practice like in urban facilities. Strong professional relationships between patient and interdisciplinary team due to small town and a smaller facility.

Challenges: Lack of resources ex: critical patients need to be sent to a larger more equipped facility. Limited community supports, especially for patients without transportation or a means of travelling. Maintaining professional boundaries ex: most people in small towns are interconnected so patient confidentiality is crucial!!!
