Walter is being very selfish because of the way he treats Ruth. Ruth does nothing but tries to help keep her family together. He is being by saying that Ruth isn't on his side for anything when she most definitely is.  He is also saying that she is never there to back him up when that is also not true. Its not true because a married couple can't not back each other up. They had each others back when they both wanted to get married. He is also being selfish by saying this to Ruth to her face so he doesn't care about hurting her feelings while he is insulting her. But being selfish isn't always a bad thing to be. Sometimes you need to be selfish when you experience a life changing event. With Walter he wants to use all the money to out towards getting a liquor store. Walter can self-less at times though. This quote shows this because he is saying that he wants the best for his son. He wants to make sure he provides a good life for Travis to grow up in. He is basically saying that he would give him the world if he could. I chose this picture because Its demonstrates that everyone has bad and good traits about themselves. With Walter, he is selfish and can be self-less. The blue colors, the moon and the stars represent that it is dark. The dark says that everyone has a bad trait to them. For Walter that would be Selfishness. The sun and the yellow colors explain that it is light and the sun is nice. The sun, the orange and the yellow mean that everyone has a nice or good trait about them self. I provoke the notion of altruism and helping at every hand
because one needs to feel a sense of self purpose
otherwise you swallow in the depth of misery.

I am not claiming selfishness is an entire path of grace
but it is not a callous path either
as it is a part of everyone’s soul.

One needs to help others in petty ways mostly
as that is all one can do usually
because of how hard it is to truly push change.

The best way that I have seen to push these notions is through words
and other forms of art and to convince others of challenging their ways
to push them into new and untaken paths they feared to take.

This Poem explains that it is also a good thing to be selfish. The author is saying that he is not considering people to be selfish all the time. That people are selfish when they need to find self purpose and if people aren't selfish at all then they will be stuck and full of misery. But others are selfish because of pettyness. Walter was being selfish in a good way because he wanted to use all the money for the liquor store and he figured that if he got the business started it could help them financially. But the selfish that was bad that he was showing was when he was he was insulting Ruth and telling her that she never has his back. He didn't care about how he made her feel.

I think these words go with this song because when it says "I want you all to myself" with Walters situation it is basically saying he wants all the money to himself. Everyone has good and bad traits that label them.

"Make yourself a priority once in a while. Its not selfish. Its necessary." 
Walter was being selfish in a way that was necessary. He not only wants to have a liquor store because he has wanted one for a while now, but he now realizes that it will help his family financially. Some of his family members think that it will be wasting money on it and it won't get them anywhere. But his intentions are to help his family out.
