disabilities by providing programs that can speak to individuals who cannot read, or digital media

that can engage students in learning. (Dell, Newton, &Petroff, 2011, pg. 16) AT meets the needs

of individuals with disabilities by providing them with services or devices that will best fit each individuals

needs. Some examples are Low-Tech tools such as a pencil grip, Mid-Tech tools such as a calculator, and 

High-Tech tools such as an iPad. (Dell, Newton, &Petroff, 2011, pg. 5-6)

design of products and structures that can be used by all people. For example, automatic doors 

can be useful to individuals in wheelchairs, but also individuals who can walk. This has to do

mainly with architecture. (Dell, Newton, &Petroff, 2011, pg. 14)

UDL: Like UD, UDL uses architecture, however it also uses what current brain

research shows about how students learn so that teaching styles/ materials can be adapted. 

UDL is intended to make curricular content available to as many different students as possible.

AT: Assistive technology can be in the form of services or devices. A device could be in the form

of a piece of equipment, or a product system. A service could be in the form of getting the

child evaluated to be able to use AT, purchasing a device they may need, or coordinating

therapy they may need. (Dell, Newton, &Petroff, 2011, pg. 5)
