Wet the printed side with a spray bottle, checking how much ink is seeping through to the back of the paper.

Stop spraying when the image on the reverse of the print attains the desired appearance.

A transaquatype is an image that, when submerged in water, uses water to cause the ink on a printed photograph to bleed through the paper and transform the image from that of a typical print to an image with a watercolour like effect.
You can also use other liquids such as diluted alcohol or even a bleach solution to change the effect of the final image. Bleach lightens the colours, and alcohol make the colours flow and mix together.
