I like that you used red for the bike to make it stand out and you made it all crinkly. My guy looks really hurt down there. I'd only suggest adding more depth to the scene if you didn't want to color (like shading to the sidewalk) - Yasmeen

racquel-i like the fact that you took a different approach and didn't keep the bike perfect and pretty, i just wish you would've added color to the road behind the person so they can pop out against it.
Avatar of

James- I like your use of warped reality or something that isn't traditionally a bicycle. Only thing I would say is to add some color to your person.
Avatar of

i think its super cool that you drew someone getting injured on their bike instead of making this a feel good kinda thing. i think some color on the road could make both the person and the bike stand out more - iris

yiesha c - i like that texture you made the bike but i think you should have added more color to the guy below

i like they style used in this piece it feels kinda like a children's book . and the limited use of colour really make things stand out.-ron

alaiah- dope, more details on the grass

Mercedes: I like the approach you took in creating this. The way the bike looks like it is broken and the guy is hurt. More color and texture, as well as maybe even seeing more of the guy would help it stand out more.
Avatar of

I like the color that you use but I really can’t tell what’s going on in the picture maybe if there was a little bit more details-Ryan
Avatar of

Rayne- I really like this. I like that this is the after math of getting hurt on a bike. I wish you added blood or something just to make it seem like that the character really got hit/fell.
Your avatar
laionna- i like the concept on the little details on the character's face like the teeth falling out and this is shown from the inside of the mouth, you can see there are large gaps where the missing teeth should've been but yea a little color would help distract the smudges on your linework, i struggle with making clean lineart myself being left handed

Skylar- The concept is really well put together and it's super detailed. I wish you would've made the piece look more finished though. Maybe by lining the figure with pen or something

i really love the perspective and contrast in this piece, the colors really make it pop! With this however i do wish there was also something about the person that would make them stand out to the eye as well, maybe by lining them or coloring a piece of them. - Marci

Mercedes Morales: This is a really cool idea. I like how you rearranged the bicycle into something else, but still have the idea of a bicycle in it. I think that coloring in the girl or the background instead of having it white could improve the piece a lot!
Avatar of
Anonymous 10h
racquel- i really love the idea of the bike being some type of flying machine or jetpack and I like the pop of red that you put onto it. i think a background with with just a little color would really add to this piece
Avatar of
Anonymous 10h
I like your piece, the bike looks like some sort of aerial contraption, and the pop of red is great. I would say since the subject is done w/ pencil, maybe ink it if you're comfortable with that because it may get lost when you look at it from a diff. perspective. - James

this is really well done, i like how you decided not to color the whole thing in order to make different parts of the drawing stand out more. i think the only thing id say is to maybe add something to the background to give us a sense of just how high in the air this person is - iris

I love this concept and the style which harkens to what seems like an early to mid 1900s period. I love the creative reconfiguring of the bike into a flying machine. There are so many amazing flying machine diagrams and drawings out there from pre-airplane times. try searching for them. It is such an interesting past-future kind of genre. I feel like adding some pattern to her coat and even a solid color in the background would help this feel more like a finished piece instead of a sketch or unfinished product.

yiesha c - i love the art style, its so cute. i like how shes kind of holding the bike up with her hands but some color on her hair or something would have made it pop

I love how she feels like she is in motion. Most of your portraits feel more still so I think this is a cool addition to your work. I wish we could see the bicycle a little more and that this had a bit more of a finished look. Maybe adding a color to the background and a little shading on the figure?
Avatar of

Mercedes: I like how she is riding the bicycle and her dress is flowing, but I wish there was more detail in the face. I also think adding color and having more of the bicycle be visible would improve it a lot.
Avatar of

Laionna- I love the expression on the character's face and the realistic flow of her hair back but I'm not sure why her arm is behind her back and I feel like you should add more details to explain why its back there like if it's resting on the back of her seat or anything, Also the drawing does seem to be unfinished and incomplete without any emotion describing her background or rather, where she is or headed but overall its a good piece and maybe you were just in a hurry

I love the concept of this piece, and the way you chose to color the bikes is perfect! I think that shrinking the bicycle in the back could help with perspective, and adding more details to the grass and the road might help make this piece pop a bit more. - Marci

Mercedes: The bicycles are really cool, I love the colors and the wheels. I think you could add more into the background, like trees or flowers in the grass just to add more dimension to the drawing.

The spiky wheels look fun and I like the cool effect you put in them, it makes me wanna go find a bike like this. I also like that the colors aren't exactly conventional because I've never seen this color combo before. I'd like if the grass was more textured and if the sky had a little gradient to it - Yasmeen

I love how this feels like a product concept or advertisement! The colors and movement are great and uplifting. I wish the road/ground didn't have black outlines since nothing else in the picture does. Also addding some texture to the image might be helpful.

I love how fun this piece is! The person's colors go well really nicely, as well as the balloons. I think the tricycle was also a unique choice! I think that detailing the background could help some, specifically saturating the colors of the grass and sky. - Marci

I really like this piece, I think all the tones really work and the use of a unicycle instead of a bicycle is nice. Maybe add some more clouds and adding a light light *light* touch of blue to the sky would make the subject look even more in place -James

The dead expression on the clown makes me think of cycling through life in the midst of clownery or something like that. It's something about it that makes me feel them. I like your use of dull tones around them and they are clearly the focal point with their brighter colors. I would suggest adding a little more shadow to the skirt where their knee bends to help define it.

laionna- I love a finish drawing with all the colors complimenting the finish piece and how her brighter and flasher outfit distracts the audience from the background but I would like to see some more details on the background so I could get a better visual understanding of what wither or not those are clouds or bushes lying a rounding open white areas.
Avatar of

Mercedes: I like how instead of doing a traditional bicycle you used a tricycle. I think having brighter colors would look cool and really make the art pop. Having more going on in the background, such as flowers, trees, or more detail in the grass would look cool.
Avatar of
Anonymous 8h
Rayne- I love your clown. Also it’s cool that you did a unicycle instead of a regular bike. I wish you kept the whole bright color thing going and made the background also pop. The clown has popping colors but the background looks kind of dull. Maybe that was the point but when I think of a clown I think of bright colors. So the background also being bright a bubbly would have added to the clown agenda.

I love this! Its so cute and inviting. I think the colors you've picked goes great with this piece- especially when you used a different color (like that yellow and orange) to bring the viewers eyes to the balloons. The balloons do feel a little cramped being obviously squeezed in to fit the page rather than cropping them, and I feel like you've done the same thing with her free hand. Otherwise, I think this is a wonderful piece and I like it a lot :) -Agatha

Mercedes Morales: I LOVE the frogs and their hats. The idea of frogs having a picnic together is so fun and unique. I think you could maybe added more color in the lights to make it look like they are glowing or add stars in the sky to look like its dark outside.

This piece is so adorable! I love the way everything is drawn. The perspective is very nice. I think working on the lighting of this piece would help the setting of it a lot. - Marci

This scene is really cute it gives such a relaxing vibe. The phrogs are just chillin. I like that everything was colored and you even gave the bike wheels a shadow that matches its spokes. I can only think of, what if the bike had a little flower basket, but that's it - Yasmeen

I think this piece is adorable, it gives me the same feeling a bicycle does, Maybe add something in the background to give the sky more dimension -James

this is so cute i love the little forest picnic you've created here, the watercolor gives it a children's book feel because its so soft feeling. i think you could add a little more to the surrounding area like mushrooms or small animals. - iris

I love this illustration style! I think it would be great if you would work with a creative writer and create a children's book! One thing i'd like to see you try with the watercolor and layering more variety of each color. Try using a range of different greens (some more yellow-green, some more blue-green, some more dull, some more bright) and the other colors as well. This will give a richness and complexity to your work.

Kalyse- I like the nature feel to this piece! All I have to say is add more detail to the leaves and maybe the grass, but besides that I like it.

I like this unique take on the bike, I'm curious about what materials you used and what your thought process was for making it. I also like how it isn't obvious what it is. It makes you look for a little while. I think having more of a contrast in colors would make it pop more - Yasmeen

i admire the shape you decided to make the bike it gives it a feeling of being alive and alien like its super cool to look at and i think you did a great job. i think one thing you could do is add highlights in places like the mouth looking part to make it sorta monster like.- iris

yiesha c - i kinda got confused at first but it made me really want to look at the shapes and figure it out, although, i think it looks amazing

Rayne- This is Unique. I think it’s a really out of the box take on this project. I’m kind of taking this as if it’s a “melted bike”. It’s a piece that you have to look at for long to really understand what you are looking at and it’s really fun to try to figure out. I think if you are really trying to sell that this piece has something to do with a bike I would make the bike shape more defined.

I love that this seems like the bike is deconstructed and demolished! It is very end of the world feel to it. It is also kind of funny and almost feels like it could be made of used chewing gum or something. I wish that the base was made of soemthing more substantial instead of cardboard. I think if it had a more solid and 'important' looking base it would be taken more seriously as an important artwork. I would love to see it from different angles and maybe think about how and where you photograph it and how that impacts viewer perception

Mercedes: This is super cool and unique. I love how it kind of looks like it is melting. I think using another material for the base would improve it more than just cardboard. Maybe even painting the cardboard a color or adding a pattern would be nice.

Kalyse- This piece kind of reminds me of Salvador Dali with the tire, kind of like its melting away sort of feel. It cool you went for a more abstract piece.

I love the colors and technique of this piece, it is the definition of eye candy! I think that maybe coloring the bike or adding some color to the left side might finish this piece more. - Marci

At first I thought that this was pretty straightforward in that you drew and wrote "bicycle" many times around the bike; It looks like it took a really long time to fill the page and I like that the other half of the page becomes psychedelic. But when I look at it more, I feel like this is in perspective of someone saying "bicycle over and over again in attempt to ground themselves in reality, but they can't help but see a whole other world to it - Yasmeen

i like how instead of using color for the whole thing you used it for half of it makes it feel a little dreamy. i think one thing you could do is to line the bike thicker so the left half of the bike doesn't blend into the background as much.- iris

Mercedes: I like how it is simple and straight forward; It is a bicycle. I think that coloring the bicycle in a bright color, like red or green, would make it stand out more in the piece.

Rayne- cool colors and love the way you incorporated the word “bicycle”. I really like the mushroom you did and I wish he just made the whole colorful side just full of mushrooms.

It looks like a lot of time and effort was put into this piece. It looks like it was fun and satisfying to finish. Maybe adding more contrasting and block colors would make the composition pop.
