Back during the Progressive Era the problem was racism. Some of the things that happened were the Jim Crow Laws. segregation, racial discrimination, etc. Now the problem is discrimination against African Americans and other groups. These connect together because they both show racism. Also in both time periods african americans were murdered.

During the 1880s, 1910s racism was huge. Some of the reformers were Ida B. Wells, NAACP, and W.E.B. Du Bois. Now some reformers are Rachel Cargle, BLM, and Color of Change. One thing the same between both time frames were.
