Musicians who have a lot more works are seen as very well respected and well known, while one hit wonders are eventually forgotten over time and their records are not kept in the endless inventory. Ratliff uses the example of how different people connect with the music. He gives various ways such as singing a long to the music. Ratliff argues that owning a lot of the musician's works isn't enough, one also needs to deeply connect with the music in order to fully appreciate it. An artist I connect with is Elton John. I appreciate his lyrics and often sing a long. My family owns a lot of his CD's to show our dedication to his works.
