While discussing personality types we did tests to discover things about ourselves. I learned that I am an ESFJ type. This means that I am an extroverted, sensing, feeling, and judgement. This is important to know when choosing a career for many different reasons. First of all, I should definitely chose a job where I am constantly interacting with people.

Talking about learning style talked about the different ways we take in information. When I took the barsch test to find out my style of learning I wasn't very surprised to see that I am both a kinesthetic and visual learner. While choosing a career this information is very important because I could pick a job where I am always hands on. Choosing something like an entrepreneur.

This activity helped me learn more about my values and the things I find important in life. While writing our accomplishments we had to think back to our earliest memory of feeling accomplished. What we picked has something to do with what we find important and value in life. This will be helpful when choosing a job, so that I can prioritize the things I find most important and the goals I want to reach in a career .

These skills are very important while choosing a career. The better you are at participation and collaboration, the more likely it is you'll choose a job where you are always communicating with other people.

I learned during this activity that I am mostly linguistic and musically intelligent. This does not surprise me because I am very good at public speaking and reading and writing. I also use songs to memorize things and am often either humming or singing while I am working. These smarts are important to use while picking a career because you wouldn't want to chose a job that has to do with naturalist if that is your lowest intelligence.

I learned that my color is orange. People who are orange live in the present, we make choices out of impulse and like to have fun. We enjoy things that involve competition because we crave results. The reason this is important to consider when choosing a job is because it is part of your personality. People who are orange probably desire a leader position when looking at the work world. We also want a job where we can be creative and use our full potential.

This was a very simple and straightforward activity that basically helped us write down and formulate a list of likes and dislikes . The reason this is important when choosing a career is for obvious reasons. If you don't like being outside, you probably aren't going to work at a zoo or be a tour guide. These might seem like little things, but they are one of the maine influences when choosing a job.

While searching through my career family tree I didn't find too many patterns. There's a small pattern of truck drivers on my dads side of men. Although on my dad and mom's side most of the women were stay at home moms with only a side job or none at all. I do want to have a career so this wont really influence my decision. Maybe someone who had a family business might feel pressured to join so that chooses their career for them.

This was an activity that we did to find out what we'd wanna do in life if money was no object. I wrote that money doesn't change that I want to be a broadcaster/journolist. I love to write and I love to talk to people, I wouldn't change it for money. This might influence someone's career if they don't have enough money for college, this would make it so they can do what they want to.

The values auction was a lot of fun. I only bought one thing, because I was waiting for the long and happy marriage but I was out bid. This says a lot about who I am as a person. I learned a lot during this and it might influence my career choice because clearly I care about having a spouse so I might have to sacrifice things for him.

Why is knowing yourself important while choosing a career?

Knowing yourself is very important to choosing a career that makes you happy and excited for work. As we get older and make our way into the workforce there will be likes and dislikes that we'll have to sacrifice, but it's all about knowing what values and morals we are willing to give up. If you don't know yourself it is impossible to know what you're good and and how you learn things and succeed in life
