I feel that the batch reactor has the most the simplest mole balance design equation as it involves only cancelling and also this method was taught in the Process Heat Transfer last sem so it is not so foreign to us. On the other hand, the PFR seems to have a rather complicated mole balance design equation as it involves axial movement and longer derivation, hence there are more factors involved when deriving its equation

Besides, it also involves limitation in calculation, further making it complicated.

On the other hand, the derivation of mole balance equation for Continuous Stirred-Tank Reactor (CSTR) is the easiest one because it involves simple integration (generation) due to perfect-mixing and the cancellation of accumulation in the general mole balance equation due to steady state operation, resulting in a much simpler and easy-to-understand equation.

Based on my observation, the most easiest mole balance equation is Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) due to no variation in reaction rate which is perfectly mixed and there is no accumulation as it is a continuous process.

But the hardest mole balance equation is Packed Bed Reactor (PBR) and Plug Flow Reactor (PFR). For the calculation, we need to take a small part of the system due to the concentration varies across the pipe length. Thus, make the mole balance equation is complicated because it involved with conceptual things.

This video enables me to have a deeper understanding on the mole balances for each reactor and for me PBR has the most challenging mole balance equation.
