The zero conditional has the following structure:
The zero conditional c (like all conditionals) has two clauses or parts: one that expresses the condition, and another that expresses the result. The order of both clauses is interchangeable. For example:

If it burns, coal turns into ashes.

Coal turns into ashes if it burns.

Uses of the first conditional
The first conditional is used to talk about plans that the subject has. Imagine that you want to plan a vacation, but for it to come true, certain conditions must be met. In this case, you must use the first conditional in English.
Examples:

If I save enough money, I will go to the beach.

If she passes the exam, she will travel abroad. (Si ella aprueba el
examen, viajará al extranjero.)

While the zero conditional refers to the present, the first conditional refers to the future. Each one applies to different situations:

Zero conditionalFirst conditional
It refers to the present. | It refers to the present and future.
It expresses universal laws of invariable compliance and general conditions in the present. | It expresses probable conditions in the future.

If you heat oil in a pan, it fries.
| If the snow is firm tomorrow, we’ll go skiing.
