I want you to read this email which I received on 29 Nov, 2017. What is your response to this? Highlight on the 'WHY'.

Hello,

My name is Miss Sharon Mohy 24yrs old female, i'm from Libya. My late father (Dr. Parizad Mohy) was the former Minister of road in Libya before he and my mother were killed in a faithful morning of August 7,2011 in terrorist attack. I contacted you because of the situation and maltreatment i was receiving from my step mother and uncles, who planned to take away all my father's treasury and assets from me and threatening to kill me because am against them, fortunately for me, they couldn't discover where I kept my father's file which he used and deposited fund in a bank in Burkina Faso. I'm glad today that am out from my country (LIBYA) I'm now in (Burkina Faso) where my late father deposited the money in my name as the next of kin, I have confirmed that the money exists in the bank here in Burkina Faso, with the certificate of deposit i have at hand.

I traveled here in Burkina-Faso to withdraw the money for a better life so that I can take care of myself and start a new life, unfortunately the Bank Director whom I met in person told me that my father's instruction to the bank was that the money would only be released to me when I am married or present a trustee who will help me to invest the money overseas, so am in search of an honest and reliable person who will help me and stand as my trustee so that I will present him/her to the Bank for the transfer arrangement because the Bank Director told me that the process will involve some expenses to legalize the fund to the name of my foreign partner before transferring into the person's account, I asked him, why not deduct the expenses from my inheritance fund, he told me that its not possible that the account has been dormant after a year and six months my father died, and he added that the fund is under security bond that no deduction should done from the account till the fund is transferred into my foreign trustee's account.

It's the sum of (US$7,200,000.00) Seven Million Two Hundred Thousand United States Dollars only) as an inheritance from my late father which I will like to invest in your country with your help and I cannot be able to make this claim myself because of my father's instruction to the bank and because of the expenses as I have no money with me. Please, if you are willing to help me then send me the following:

1 Your address....................

2 Your full name..................

3 Your age........................

4 Your private phone number.......

5 Your ID and photograph..........

6 Your occupation.................

After I receive the above mentioned information, I'll trust you fully and give your more detail and send you my pictures and my international passport then I will introduce you to the bank as my foreign partner and give you the contact information of the bank for you to use to contact and ask them on how to transfer the fund into your bank account in your country so that i will come over to join you for the sharing and investment project, I agreed that you take 30% of the fund for handling the transaction for me and you help me to invest the rest of the money in your country, and please don't let anybody to know about this fund, keep it as a top secret between you and I because i don't want my step mother and my uncles in Libya to know about it, you know how they treated me back in Libya as i explained to you, just keep it very secret okay.

I wait to hear from you. Thanks.

Your Sincerely,

Miss. Sharon Mohy.

1. From watching the video, I think critical thinking is an ability of a person to see beyond what's obvious, challenge others's and even oneself's own opinion and stand on a neutral ground when viewing an aspect. Critical thinking may cause others feel uncomfortable but that may actually be the right way to find a better solution to a problem. There is so many possibilities to view something as and to not only lean to one side is how critical thinking should be. Bias and feelings should be put aside and judgements and opinions should be open to any new upgrade of knowledge.

Thinking critically may be hard for some people because being critical like mentioned needs the willingness to change one's opinion at times. Some people sees this as no being confident and a change of view can create skepticism from one's followers. But changing opinion is actually following the trend of current understandings of something. Which is important to create a better career, life and more.

2. In my opinion, you should not believe the e-mail and refrain from giving up any personal information to this e-mail. I believed so as the sender did not actually provide any clear evidence that the 'situation' she's in is actually true. There's no document or whatsoever provided that can prove her credibility. Instead, she tried to persuade you into giving up your personal informations by trying to win over sympathy points from you. This is most likely a fraud.

If whatever she has e-mailed to you is true, she shold have attach an official written statement by the bank itself of those conditions her father put forward. If she is truthful, she should've send her personal informations first other than her name even if it's not as detailed as how she claimed she would do. But a small information that can be traceable to her and can be used to confirm her existence would be enough.

Hence, I think it's not wise to believe this e-mail and follow the instructions in it.

3. Characters of critical thinking is to slow down when something needs to be thought deeply. Rushing the thought may not result in the best outcome and hence to think critically, we need to sit back and pause. Other than that, when doubts come around, waiting can be the best solution through that boulder. The right way to solve something may come in mind after a series of deeper thinking and referring to other things. Besides that, everyone has a limit and knowing everything is not everything. Pretending to know something and ended up being clueless to everything that follows is more fatal than 'letting your pride down by asking others'. Moreover, it's important to remember that the process is better than result. Even if the result is good, it may not be obtained through the right or best way.

1. After viewing the video, I think critical thinking is much more interesting and helpful. Critical thinking is defined as the objective analysis of facts to form a judgement. It is the way we think go beyond the obvious and have neutral point of view when we observed something from various perspectives. To briefly explain about critical thinking, it is actually a way of thinking we do not simply accept all arguments and statements without any supportives stands and proves.
2. In my opinion, I should not believe this. This is because we should refuse from leaking out our personal information to this email to protect our privacy. We should always think rationally about how the sender get my email and why he/she had chosen me as the "lucky" person. Besides, there are no official written documents attached to prove her credibility. It might highly probability of a phishing scams. This is because phishing scams are based on communication made via email or social networks. Those people will send you messages and try to trick you into giving them your login credentials. In the end, you are left broke and without anyof the promised money. Hence, we should think carefully and do not follow the instructions in it.
3. In my opinion, the characteristics of a critical thinker is to think slowly and carefully as rushing may caused unwanted consequences. Leave those complicated difficulties a few days can get better thought. Besides, we should conserve mental energy to build habits and working environment that help you focus. Moreover, a critical thinker should always judge the strategies instead of the results. We should not only obsessed with short-term success.

1. Critical thinking is an ability to think beyond what we have known from the community, society, Internet and even the current education system. It is an urge to someone to be curious about the knowledge that he or she don't know. So, it makes people to think desperately , seeking for the answers that is logic. Thinking critically promotes one to evaluate something whether it makes sense to him or her. For instance, evaluating the rules fixed by certain party and opinion given by certain person is a deed done by a critical thinker.
Critical thinking can be divided into skepticism and objectivity which are doubting the truth of something and seeing something from a neutral point of view. Critical thinking is the explanation of why we believe something to be true and willing to change our minds when the facts changes.
Critical thinking is a move to challenge the current knowledge for replacement and search answers for things that we cannot explain.
2. In my point of view, the email should not be trusted. This is because the story sent seems to be well-planned as there is no any supporting official documents to support the statement that her father has passed away and even the bank name and bank statement were not given. So, the email is suspected to have a bad motive. The sender who requests for personal information might have an evil objective. They can use these information to cheat others, framing us for their evil deeds.
The email also offers a great rewards worth about USD 2,160, 000.00, 30% of the USD 7,200,000.00., which is a criteria of a cheating mail to attract others to fall into their plot. So, being careful is a must to handle this kind of email.
3. A critical thinker should slow down to arrange a strategy to solve a problem and save mental energy by building habits and environment that aid in focusing. A critical thinker should always judge strategy instead of results. Bad strategy may lead to a short term success but not a long term success. However, a good strategy is worth repeating though it does not work well in the early stage of the trial. A critical thinker seeks refutation but not confirmation. They seek for challenges and contradiction, carrying on by putting the arguments and beliefs to a test. Last but not least, a critical thinker suspects every option given as reject offer might be a wiser choice.

1. From the video, critical thinking is the ability to think rationally when receiving any facts or problems that appears in any situation. Critical thinking include two concept which help us to engage critically with what we are facing. The two concepts are skepticism and objectivity which had been explained in the video. For the skepticism, when critical thinkers are facing a problem, they would prefer to think beyond what is obvious at that time to get the best solution for their problem rather than just making any decision right after they got the problem. For objectivity, critical thinkers make decision by evaluating the problem from a neutral point of view. They are not affected by their emotion or feeling. It is almost impossible to be objectivity for all the time, but the improvement is what we want to see.

2. For me, if I received any email like that, I would like to ask myself “Why it is me?”. Therefore, I will not accept this email at face value. So, firstly after reading the email, I want to find out either the information stated in the email are true or not such as the relation between Libya and Burkina Faso and the cabinet of Libya. Even if the information stated were true, I will still arguing as why not the bank does recommended her to invest in its own country? In addition, to gain others trust, why can’t she provide some identification and the official written statements from the bank? Therefore, there will still be more lot to be questioned and surely I won’t trust this kind of email as it seem like a kind of random email.

3. From the article, characteristic of critical thinkers is they will evaluate either their problem need more time or just do it. They will allocate just the right time to solve their problem. Moreover, critical thinkers try to focus on their problem rather than doing multi-work at one time. Plus, they know what they do not know, so they will limit themselves from saying what they do not know. Critical thinkers also do not disappoint when the outcome is not the expected indeed fail as they know the efforts eventually with be pay off. Plus, they will try to find out why they fail instead of just accepting it.

1.Critical thinking is all about taking a moment to go beyond the obvious and ask what you do and don't actually know, while thinking uncritically involves accepting something without pausing to consider whether it is sensible or justified. However, thinking uncritically is not same as being stupid and thinking critically is not something that smart people always do.

Most of the people don't and can't think critically about what they are doing. Knowing when and how to engage critically is a question of habit and strategy more than intellectuality. There are tools that help you in thinking critically, which is skepticism, doubting the truth of something and objectivity, trying to see something from more neutral point of view. Critical thinking is not explaining why we believe something to be true but also obliged to change our minds when the facts change.

2. In my opinion, you should not believe the email. This is because the sender herself didn't provide her full information and show any legitimate documents to prove whatever she state is true. She just simply plead for sympathy to someone who doesn't even know her and most importantly, she doesn't state how she gets your email address and she didn't clearly state why she chose you to be the trustee. She should not ask your personal information on the first time she contacted you. The way she asked for your personal information on the first time of contacting seems most likely a fraud.

1. In short, critical thinking is thinking beyond the obvious by not accepting any given fact, issue or matter at face value. There are two aspects of critical thinking, skepticism and objectivity. Skepticism is an act of doubting the truth of a matter whereas objectivity is looking at a matter in a neutral point of view. Bias and personal feelings should not be mixed into the ordeal or else it does not count as critical thinking.

2. I do not think that you should believe that email. I do not know from what soap opera the scammer took her situation from but clearly, she sent the email to the wrong person since she’s not fooling anyone. The story is easily debunked since why would a single person be able to order a bank around and if her father really wanted to gave a that large amount of inheritance, why would he set up conditions that made his only living heir a hell of a time to claim it? I think what gave it away was the fact that she asked for personal information and then asked for secrecy. The rule of thumb is that nothing is free especially when it comes to money. 30% is a huge share and logically thinking, why would anyone want to share their inheritance with a stranger?

3. A critical thinker is someone that is willing to stop and ponder on the validity of a matter. They channel their energy to focus on a thing that could be changed or could be proven otherwise. They are patient, not to keen on rushing to take action and instead maximize their time in order to get the best outcome. A critical thinker is also a person that isn’t afraid to admit that they do not know certain things and therefore proceed to widen their knowledge to further improve themselves. They are also neutral and would not let anything they have or like to cloud their judgement. A critical thinker is also open minded and can tell the difference between sound strategy with skewed outcomes and just pure dumb luck from a bad strategy. They always bear in mind that any choices can be potentially wrong but it is up them to choose the best. They are also careful to make sure to look at a thing in a non-relative way to avoid succumbing to marketing tactics.

1. After watching the video, in my opinion, critical thinking is about an ability to think more harder and deep about facts the we have known from the sources such as current issues, Internet or society. Critical thinking is helpful and interesting because not everyone can think critically even though he or she is smart and have more knowledge. It also can train us to think hardly to obtain the best solution in any problems the we may face soon instead use the solutions that everyone knows. It is just like we not accept the whole points from the other sources, but we think in our stand based on what we believe.

2. You should not believe this e-mail. This is because you never know who is she and is it true that she was a daughter of former minister of road in Libya. You should ask yourself back why were you are the chosen one to get this e-mail. Besides, in this e-mail, she not attached any formal documents about her late father's treasury and assets; and a formal letter that she must find a partner from the Bank Director. Also, if she knows about ethical in get information from the others, she must give the detail information about herself before she asked our personal information. I think this e-mail is a scam so, you should ignore this e-mail, or any bad things will happen to you if you give all your personal information.

3. After reading the article, characteristic of critical thinker is do not make decision in rushing way if the problem must think deeply. We must take a rest and think wisely about our decision. Besides that, critical thinker knows their limits. We should not pretend to know what we do not know. We should ask the people who has more knowledge about some topics. Next, judge strategy, not results. If our strategy does not go well, then we must check back the mistakes in every strategy. This is because if we judge the results, we are in dangerous. Every result that we got were from our strategy. Last but not least, ask ourselves about option that we got. Maybe every option can be wrong. We must think wisely in every option that we have so that something bad will not happen to us.

1. Anyone can be a a critical thinker. It is not a skill that is gifted or inherited but a skill that needs practice and can be mastered over time. Critical thinking is thinking beyond the obvious and to always wonder about anything beyond what is stated or shown. Critical thinking can be taught by understanding two concepts which is skepticism and objectivity. Skepticism means doubting the truth of something. This also means we should always be curious thus find the knowledge that explains our doubt. On the other hand, objectivity means seeing something from a neutral point of view. This means that one should always see a problem or situation in a bigger picture without being bias on one side.

In a nutshell, critical thinking is not a measure of intelligence, instead it is a measure of how deep we think of something.

2. In my opinion, the email is absurd and cannot be trusted. Firstly, the story is obviously made up and exaggerated. Anyone surely would not want to give money worth of millions to any stranger. The sender introduced herself as a daughter of an important person in the country but could not actually provide the evidence of it. In addition, if the story is really true and she was desperate to find some foreigner, she must have attach supporting documents to gain the reader's trust, for instance a bank statement or even her identity. She also stated she wanted to invest the money to your country but did not state the solid reason why she chose it over other dozens of countries. She also did not mentioned why she chose you over other millions of people.

Other than that, the main objective of the email was only to steal one’s personal information. After a long message, she finally stated what she wanted. She wanted address, name, ID, photograph and so on, enough to show that the email was definitely a fraud. One can do many malicious activities using strangers’ personal information such as applying loans or credit card under their name.

In conclusion, I think it is important to think critically about something rather than just simply trust and accept a story told by anyone.

3. Characteristics of a critical thinker include not jumping into conclusions but instead to slow down and think carefully. They also know how to apply their attention toward a situation selectively and effectively. They acknowledge their limit and is not afraid to admit it. They tend to have a wider knowledge because they always seek for it. They also channel their energy and thought deeply toward one thing at a time. A critical thinker seek refutation, not confirmation. They judge the strategy and not the outcome of something. This means they know the importance of the facing challenges and gaining experience to acquire something rather than to have it by luck. A good strategy is always worth repeating until we receive the outcome we want.

1. Through the video, critical thinking is when we try to view something more than what it is shown. This happens by doubting the truth of something in a neutral point of view; neither believe nor against it. By being skeptical, it does not mean we are being negative but instead, it helps us to have a strong reason for whatever we believe in and prevent us from believing false information. Moreover, critical thinking makes a person an intellectual by constantly questioning why and therefore, gain knowledge. As we all know, curiosity is the key of wisdom.

2. In my opinion, you should not believe the email. Not just that it is too good to be true but it also lacks of evidence. There are nothing in the email to prove that it is true. No pictures or official statement at all. She, as a daughter of Minister should have know how to approach someone officially with this big intention. She also greets without your name on it. It seems like she did not done a careful search on who she want to be her trustee and this kind of effort does not matched the amount of money she offer. It is also dangerous to expose her inherited money to a stranger if it is even true. Hence, we have no reason to believe this email.

3. Some of the characteristics of a critical thinker are calm and have a relaxed mind as it is hard to think under a pressured situation. They would not waste their mental energy for useless things. A critical thinker would not be ashamed to seek help from reliable person as they accept their limitation in knowledge and ability. Beside that, when something definitely goes wrong, they do not hold on to it just because they invested a lot. Along with that, they value good strategy rather than judging fully based on the result. For them, every option could have been wrong and they like to challenge the contradict.

1. After watching the video, i think critical thinking is not something that we can ignore. It is very crucial especially for us teenagers. From what i understand, critical thinking is like the ability of a person to think outside of the box and to come up with great ideas in a short time. But, in this video, it goes deeper and defines critical thinking in more details. It tells that critical thinking is like to go beyond and ask what you do and what you don't actually know. To think critically, we must have these tools which are scepticism and objectivity. Scepticism doubts the truth of something. We cannot simply agree with every statement given by other people. We have to think. And this is what critical thinking is for. for example from this video, if a leading academic comments that eating fat is good for us, uncritical thinker would simply go out and buy some highly contained fat food. Whereby a critical thinker would argue to that statement. The next one is objectivity. It means seeing something from neutral point of view. We should set aside our own feelings and bias as far as possible and to establish the facts that matter. For example, if that particular person that comes up with a statement we do not agree is someone that very close to us, we cannot feel burdened to state the truth.

2. In my opinion, I think I just cannot believe this email. It is strange to think that of all people in this world, why did she choose me as her life saviour. Before taking action, I should consider the validity of this email. This sender did not state her full information and proper documents to prove that what she stated is true. If this email is true, then she should mention in the email that she will keenly provide her personal information and official statement to gain my trust after I reply her email. Plus, I would find out about the truth of her story about the relation between Libya and Burkina Faso and the cabinet of Libya. Even If it is true, the sender probably use it to make the story become more realistic and to gain my trust. Besides, 30% is a huge amount of share. If I am on her place, I would not just simply share that huge amount of money to a person that I don’t even know her/his name.

3. Based on Ten Commandments for Critical Thinking, the characteristics of a critical thinker is, the first one, slow down and take some times to think before jump to any conclusion. This Is because everything need strategy. The next one is, If we in doubt, why not we give some times for our brain to think because the longer it is, what we need to say will feel much clearer. Besides that, we should know our limits. We cannot pretend that we know everything. Nobody is perfect. Everyone must have at least a thing that they don’t know. So instead, we should find out more about what we don’t know and that’s how we can be confident of ourselves.

1. After watching the video, I believe that critical thinking is one of the way to make people discover a lot of things and force them to think beyond the obvious. Without critical thinking, people might never discover new things and straightforwardly believe what they have witness. Actually, the way of thinking is not simply receiving the information and sometimes we need to question ourselves about what we know and what we don’t actually know. Plus, how does anything can occur without analyzing or proving it? We have to mind the value by thinking thoroughly to contemplate whether the fact is practical or not. That’s why skepticism and objectivity are very essential on how to think critically. Besides, we should ignore our own feelings and bias as far as possible to form facts that really matter or else it does not count as an idea from a critical thinker.

2. Generally speaking, I think I shouldn’t believe the email. First of all, it seems suspicious for someone to randomly send an email and actually knew our email. I will search her father’s name to gain more information about the sender. If it is true, she might have to consider whether I can be trusted or not. Rather than choosing me as a trustee, I think she should get married and trust her partner for being a trustee. In addition, there is no official written statement to be attach on the email to show how desperate she is yet she already asked me for my personal information. From this point, I think this is only a spam that wanted for our personal information so that they can access into our account and then in any time, our money are all gone. Other than that, she did not explain much about her uncle and aunt who only desire for the money. She just explain it briefly and focus on the money that she wanted to use to begin a new life. Positively thinking, I believe she is still young and cannot afford to manage such a big amount of money. Therefore, it is not the right time for her to involve in the investment oversea. The money that she offered doesn’t change my stance from doubting the validity of this email. As a precaution step, we should just ignore this email or any similar email that might pop up in to our email to prevent us from getting scammed and robbed.

3. First and foremost, being a critical thinker, we should be able to think something deeply and not rushing into a decision without studying its validity. A critical thinker does not have to rush into things. All they need to do is just to think slowly as everything needs a well-planned strategy. Every option that comes up from a critical thinker might be wrong and they must willingly to accept and proceed with the other plan or strategy. A critical thinker must admit his/her limit instead of claiming something to be true before studying it thoroughly. They should ask help from the expertise on a certain thing. A critical thinker also should not give up easily when the results do not reach their expectations. Furthermore, a critical thinker must not be blinded with a short term success. In fact, the truthiness of matters is being argued. Making mistakes is part of learning process and discovering things. For example, most of the scientists failed many times before they found things benefits the human kind. Lastly, a critical thinker should be careful on taking the references and doing it by himself/herself.

Thank you

1. After viewing the short video, what I understand about critical thinking is we have to go beyond the obvious which means we have to being creative, reflective and adaptable to any situations that occur in order to make a conclusion. This brings us to the two main concepts in critical thinking, scepticisms and objectivity. Scepticism means doubting the truth of something while the objectivity means seeing something from a neutral point of view. These two allows us to question and making judgement in anything we concern. Next, in order to be a critical thinker, we should have the ability to pause and stepping back from a situation. This ensure us to see all the angles before making judgements or taking decisions plus to enable us to consider whether it’s sensible or justified. This conclude in analysing the sources of information, weighing up different type of evidence just as a judge and jury would do in a court law

2. In my opinion, I surely think that this email was a scam. First, nobody in this world would send you email out of nowhere, without even know each other, different continent or country and tell you the story of their life on the spot. It is weird and apparently very strange. In that email, the sender mentioned about the struggle she’s been into regarding the bank protocol. She is asking you to help her by investing some expenses to legalize a fund. This clearly shows the real intention of the sender towards you. Other than that, the sender also asks you to fill your private information such as address and private phone number which is in my opinion the most eerie things and I am surely decline that permission really quick. Finally, the sender did not conclude any strong evidence or document from any authorities about the fund which it should have because of the serious amount in it. There is no identification stated from the sender that we could consider and think about. The sender only stated her name and her amazing life story. This is also why I think this email is a trap and we should not take any stupid action to this email as we know there were a lot of cases like this nowadays, that have been cost someone’s life.

3. The characteristics of the critical thinkers is that they know when to sit back and think carefully. They not afraid of pausing or delaying their decision making. They also try their best to get rid of the surrounding chaos in today’s media. Plus, they know their limits and constantly learning. They would search for expertise in a particular situation where they know it is not their good at so that they can get the best answers. Furthermore, they committed in what they invest in and keep looking forward. They also focus only on the long-term success and carefully build strategies to have better output instead of judging the results.

1. Critical thinking, what is it? In my understanding after viewing the video, critical thinking is something or an action that challenge the fact or truth of something. Different from uncritical thinking, where people tend to accept blindly or to seek confirmation that wether that thing is wrong or right. To think critically is to challenge the fact, hence, this is knowledge and understanding grow towards time. In thinking critically, skepticism is where you doubting the truth. It doesn’t mean that you don’t believe the fact, is just that you asking yourself for better understanding. From this you can find the problem and solution in something. And another one is objectivity is try to see something without bias or in a neutral point of view. This is important to help you to look at something in a better way without judging it falsely.

2. Should I believe this email? Obviously the answer will be no. When looking at this particular email, asking various questions is very important as if you are judging the statement in the email. For example, why would she want a foreigner? Why does her farther give such an instruction? Why would she choose me? Why does she trust so much a stranger? From this doubt we can analyze and judge the content of the email and decide wether this email is true or not. This is very important because in deciding something or solving problems, asking, doubting and judging that particular will help you to see wether that thing is acceptable or not, true or false.

3. Ten comment-mend of critical thinking is a very interesting artical. Few things that i really found interesting for me are, firstly, know your limit. To know your limit is to have the courage to admit that that you don’t know or you don’t have the knowledge of it. For this you try to seek for the answer hence helping you to understand the situation more. Besides that, beware of sunk cost is also an important comment mend because in doing something, you need to look ahead and in long term cause. It is worth it fir you to invset in. If it’s not, cut it off not matter how sweet the thing is. Lastly, to beware your frame of reference. Determine what is your frame of reference. Is it for you, or your family. It is long term or short term. Don’t let people influence you in the what you thinking because the ime that is deciding is you.

1. So, what is critical thinking anyway? It is not something that you can have it easily after birth but it come naturally when your body itself and your mind wanted it. This is how both of your body and mind cooperate to go beyond the obvious. Thinking critically is how we think about something that are not obvious around us. Of course, we will fall into such a deep thought before we give any words or promises. So how can we developed this skills? There are no things we called as an easy pathway without trying hard to be a critical thinker. First of all, being curious is a most. When you received a fact, don’t easily and fastly accepted it but think first why this fact should be accepted. You should take some time to justify either it is true or not. This is all about habits and strategy rather than having high IQ. In order to become a critical thinker, a few tools are needed to help we think critically with this two concepts which are scepticism and objectively. Scepticism means always doubting the truth of something. This is where our minds wanted to find further information about something we are curious about. So this is the time where our mind will think critically and try to challenge the facts. Don’t be hesitate to do so because we need to improve our thinking skills. Next is objectively. Objectively is how a person should be looking into one things in a neutral point of view which means they are not biased. Don’t because you already know the facts, so you put 100 percent trust onto it. This is not good and this is a critical thinker do. A deep research is a must as a critical thinker.

2. In my opinion, this email cannot be trusted. This is because she is from Libya. How can she know your email address? She is not even your siblings or relatives. Secondly, why did she send it to you? A lot of scam email had been an issues lately especially towards women. This is because the nature of a women that can fall easily to something absurd like this. How can you be sure that the sender of the email is actually really a woman with a problem? How can you believe that she is really the daughter of a dead dad who have a lot of assets? Isn’t this sound fishy? As for me myself, I won’t ask anything personal to a person that I don’t know. But she is very brave to send this kind of message while telling her biggest secret? How can she be sure that I won’t tell to anyone about this money? Therefore this email should not be trusted easily before some research had been done towards this woman who said herself as the victim of her uncles and aunties.

3. After reading the article about what are the characteristics for critical thinker, I think that it isn’t that hard to do so. This is because you only needs a will and technique. It is just the matter of habits and strategy. You always need to be relax but at the same time your brain is thinking about something. A critical thinker do not rush in doing something. They may take some time to justify something but at the end the results are better and excellent. After I had done a few quizzes, I realized that a critical thinker do not think that hard. They always think something that are logic but can be accepted by other people. It didn’t need to be totally absurd and new things, but the way of thinking and the reasons shows the different whether he or she a critical thinker or not. Next, they are also very determine. They do things that other people never think of doing it.

Thank you

1. Generally, it makes you feel uncomfortable when you think and express about a subject critically. Some people would see critical thinking as a matter of criticism which is not supportive enough from their perspective. Regardless of what people would condemn or complain, you have to get out from your comfort zone to think critically, go beyond the obvious. It’s about time to analyze about what you know and another thing that you don’t. by critical thinking too, we can distinguish what critical thinking is, which is by acknowledging that it is totally opposite the uncritical thinking. Uncritical thinking is accepting something at its apparent worth without hesitate to have a little bit of consideration and personal justification. Critical thinking does not indicate a smart person and vice versa. Knowing when and how to think critically is rather more important using two points, skepticism and objectivity – being doubtful and carefree at the same time. Critical thinking not only requires explanation about why we believe something is true, but also needs obligation to change our minds when facts change.

2. From my point of view, I personally think that you should not believe the email. As a matter of fact, you should report the email as spam as well!

First of all, the sender clearly made an unrealistic claim to someone whom she doesn't even know. When she said that she's insecure with her relatives' untrustworthy, it is questionable of why would she trust an anonymous from another country if she wouldn't even trust her own relatives. How can she be so convinced that the particular foreigner from a particular country whom she had emailed is an honest and reliable person who can stand as her trustee? Wouldn’t it be easier if she just get married with someone instead of going here and there finding a far away trustee?

Besides, since she mentioned that she didn’t any money with her, how could she go to Burkina Faso with no cash at all? This seems arguable and makes no sense. Other than that, I am very skeptical of how she tried to retrieve your personal information first before she gives you her full trust and finally provides her personal details and such. She was the one who started it all, asking for your help in handling her business, wasn’t she? Should she give those details first to a particular someone whom she trusted to help her claim the inheritance and her investment partner-to-be? After all, it is obvious that the sender offered an untrustworthy claim as she failed to attach any documents or certificates along with the email even she declared that she had all the certificates with her.

3. To think critically, we have to first slow down and be rational in order to have a good deep thought about a subject or matter. This is how we pay attention selectively and effectively. Beside, it is crucial to conserve your mental energy by focusing on what really matter and letting unnecessary pests affect your way of critical thinking. Time is also an effective cofactor in thinking critically. You may need a few moment to clear your mind and again, refresh a deep thought of yours – do and say absolutely nothing. Moreover, to have a critical analysis is to know your limits and seek for others’ expertise when needed. This is important to deduce a trustworthy result. Critical thinking also requires you be brutal, and look ahead when things don’t work out. It is also necessary to keep doing the right thing, play the odds in the long term by sticking to a good strategy which is worth repeating. Furthermore, a critical thinker should know how to distinguish the frame of reference and justify about the relative of one’s cost and value. You should also be able to think of both sides – the supports and refutation. By seeking refutation and not confirmation , you can have valid conclusion by having challenges, contradictions and put your arguments or beliefs to a genuine test. As a critical thinker, you might also meet a situation where neither the options are correct or worth choosing. This is how you go beyond the obvious and question if you really are given a choice.

1. From the video, I have deduced that critical thinking means making an effort to look beyond the obvious and question it. When one chooses to think critically, they are refusing to blindly accept a statement or idea without further investigations and facts backed by logical reasoning. This may mean stepping out of one's comfort zone and deviating from biased opinions. It is a good way to open one's mind to different possibilities and driving inquisitive research. These in turn, will pave paths toward new sectors of knowledge and help us gain a better understanding of a subject.

2. Personally, I do not believe the email. The sender lacks documents identifying themselves and their situation which makes me question the veracity of the story and the sender. The sender also requests private information which raises suspicion and practically screams out "SCAM'', setting off alarms from everything we have learnt about the dangers of strangers on the internet. The story as a whole is sketchy, why would a lady from Libya email me for help sorting out her father's fund? Where did she get my email in the first place? Asking questions such as these highlight the many loose ends that don't quite make sense proving the email to be a fraud. The objective of a scam is usually to trick the unsuspecting victim into transferring money to the scammer. From the email, this will be the expenses used to 'legalize the fund' which I'd probably have to make if I were to agree in aiding her by handling the transactions. James Veitch cleverly unravels scams in his TEDTalks by replying to scam emails which leads to humorous conversations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4Uc-cztsJo

3. In my opinion, the characteristics of a critical thinker are;
-Knowing the limits to what you know. A critical thinker must know when to seek for help and expertise on things they do not understand. To not be egotistical or make assumptions.
-Look at both the pros and cons of an idea. A critical thinker must challenge their own ideas instead of solely trying to justify them. They must prioritize discovering and learning over being 'right'.
-Know when to ditch an idea and move on to a new one. When a critical thinker reaches a dead end, it is easy to bend facts to ensure years of hark work does not go wasted, but when you know your discovery is false, it is best to stop and let go to cut any further losses.

1) From the video, I think critical thinking is all about challenging ourselves to think twice about what’s going on in front of your eyes and around you. Its about thinking not only from the face value of the statement but instead go beyond the obvious. Critical thinking make us feel uncomfortable but with that, we can challenge ourselves to be more skepticism and beware in accepting something . Being a critical thinker is about how we manage to see something from a neutral point of view, applying the knowledge without making assumption and being bias. Some people may not like to change what they have set in their mind and not trying to accept what new things that others want to implement in life. Hence, we should think critically for the sake of being a better person.

2) If I were you, I will not believe this email. If we think it twice, why she choose you as her trustee out of million people out there ? We don’t even know who is she and what is the background of her family. Its not that we don’t want to help but the information given about her also not that clear. The first thing that I will do when I know that her father is the former Minister of road in Libya is that I will search about it and confirm it first. Sometimes, the story may be true but maybe it just a ‘trick’ for us to make we believe her more. The details about the certificate of deposit also not been attached. Plus, I feel it suspicious for her to ask straight away for your private information as it was her first email. She’s just too rush. Besides, we also cannot give our information as simply as that to a stranger. Its clearly shown that with all your private details, they can use all of it to manipulate your bank account and take all the money. Hence, I think this email is just a scam email and you should ignore it.

3) Being a critical thinker is not the matters that we cannot handle. Be chill and slow down but at the same time pay attention selectively and effectively. Thinking requires energy. As a critical thinker, conserving energy is always important cause with that, we can maintain our focus without being distract. Plus, if we are in doubt, take a rest. Give it some break maybe a few days or a week. Never go beyond your own limit and ask a hand from others. A good critical thinker also work on the present and make the past as a lesson. We should not be haunted by the past and all those regret cause there’s always a new chapter to start on. Always plan a good strategies and reflect back about the result. Short term success is not a good thing. Critical thinker also view something beyond the normal and always think in a long term effect. Make sure to see a clear vision of our reference frame. Sometimes, what we think, is not what really happening. Life is full of surprises. We have to think twice and keep arguing because not every choices is right.

Thankyou

1. From the video, critical thinking is thinking beyond our normal way of thinking. Normally, we will think and relate with what's obvious. In critical thinking, we should keep questioning why or how something happened. We should realize that something happened with its own reason. Generally, critical thinking will be related with skepticism which is doubting the truth and objectivity which means seeing something from a neutral point of view. In my understanding, skepticism means that we should not accept a statement without thinking or finding out the reason why someone comes out with that particular statement while objectivity means we need to think without bias. To be a critical thinker, we should consider this two ways of thinking.

2. In my opinion, I strongly believe that the email you received was part of a scam. First and foremost, for me it is not logic that the bank she had problem with wanted a foreigner to involve in this kind problem since it will cause more problems in the future. Plus, the sender does not attach any of the bank's official letter to prove that she really have to find a foreign partner in this case. Furthermore, she informs that you should not tell others about the email. In my opinion, if she is searching for a trustee, she would email the same thing to another person as well. Thus, there is no difference if you're telling anybody or not, others will know it too. It is obvious that the sender does not want you to tell the police about this scam.

3. From the article, a critical thinker will have a deep thought on something that matters for them, Plus, a critical thinker is not only the one who decides or give a result in a short time. They also would spend some time to think of a problem critically. Another characteristic of a critical thinker is they know their limit. They must know that they should seek for help from the expertise sometimes and not to make their own assumptions. Last but not least, a critical thinker would not only consider the choices given. They would also think out of the box and find another possible solutions for a problem when the choices given are unreasonable.

1. Most of us do not really understand and are not able to see clearly what is critical thinking is all about. We do not really take it into account and have no idea on the importance of being a critical thinker. In fact, we do not know how to be a critical thinker and there is people who doesn’t realize that they are actually a critical thinker. After viewing the short video, I got to know that critical thinking is kind of different method and way of thinking. In a daily life, a critical thinker will always have these ‘5W1H’ in their mind. They tend to think beyond the obvious and see in different view. Differently to uncritical thinker, they would just accept and believe the way it used to be without thinking further or maybe making a decision by their feelings. The questions on a particular situation that playing in a critical thinker mind is the key. They tend to challenge the fact, to prove it right and to hardly believe that it is true without straight away jump to a conclusion or simply make a decision. Skepticisms and objectivity here are the concepts that really matter which is doubting the truth and see things differently. Furthermore, I would like to emphasize that a critical thinker is not determine how smarter they are but the way they think come out with better results.

2. Believe or not, it is an option. As the critical thinker, it is not as simple as that to believe the e-mail received by unknown person who was personally shared her current problems and asking for help from a stranger. She is being unrealistic as she was secretly trying to ask for help from unknown person and keep it private. If I received the e-mail, first thing that comes across my mind is how did she get my e-mail and confidently told me all the details of her problems? As I read the e-mail, I was being skeptical about the ‘situation’ she is in. Is it true? In my point of view, she was convincing the reader by trying to win over sympathy which is unprofessional. Moreover, when the ‘situation’ is regarding to money or banking issue, it would be kind of impossible to simply making an agreement through an e-mail or social networks. I might be influenced by the heartbreaking story told by her, but there is not much evidence to prove she is telling the truth. There is no any official letter given by the bank or documents related or any black and white evidences. In the other hand, asking for others personal information is another type of unprofessional act. Therefore, I stand on my opinion that this e-mail should not be trusted.

3. Firstly, to be a critical thinker, efforts are needed. Pause and analyze before making a decision is one of the characteristics needed. Do a strategy and make it out effectively and always have a back-up planned. Besides, critical thinkers must admit their limits but won’t let anyone dictate their time and attention. Plus, to spend some time to sit back and have a deeper thoughts would be the right choice before jump to a conclusion. Moreover, do not ever pretend to know what you don’t know is the crucial part were each of the critical thinker must widen their knowledge and to give all you had to achieve something you are looking for. Hence, it is important to remember the process is better than result. To choose the best over the best must be your final decision, however every option can be wrong therefore, wisely think which options should be rejected. In a nutshell, critical thinking teach you to acknowledge your potential on making decision and how to think wisely until the best choice is chosen.

Thank you.

1. From the video that i have watched, i can conclude that critical thinking is to think and look beyond the obvious. It is the ability to think deeply about something. Critical thinkers always think without barely receiving facts from other sources without further investigation and learning. By doing this, we may seem to be taking some risks. The critical thinkers will generally be a skeptical person as they will doubt the facts that were given.

2. Honestly I do not believe the email that have been sent. All i can conclude is that email is a scam. The sender is clearly lacks of self information and it is not acceptable if the foreign bank want us to get involve in that problem. The sender requests the private information which. It raise the suspicious feeling inside my mind. the sender also did not attached any bank official document as a prove that she really need a foreign partner. She also told that you must no tell the other people about this email so it is clearly that this email is a scam.

3. A critical thinker must think efficiently and by conserving his mental energy. He must know his willpower and try to create the best surrounding for him to focus and for him to think without being bothered. A critical thinker also have to be a patience person. This is because they need time to figure out the idea and to think deeply. Critical thinkers also must know their limit. They should not say what they did not know and what they cannot brain. if they running out of ideas they should seek help from other expertise.

1. Based on the video, I think that critical thinking is one's ability to understand the core of a certain issue, rather than dwelling on its surface which is what most people do. A critical thinker is able to view and analyze the issue from several different standpoints while standing on neutral ground. They realize that it is crucial to not simply jump to conclusions, as it can lead to dire consequences. With this in mind, they do not blindly accept and agree with any opinions, instead opting to delve further into the subject matter at hand. It would do us well to start working towards a mind that can be described as 'critical thinker', as it will help us to improve in several aspects and may lead to new perspectives in life.

2. After reading the email, it is obvious to me that it is a scam. Not only is there no proof whatsoever about the official instructions of the bank, but this Sharon also does not provide readers with any excuse to believe that she is a real person. By this statement, I mean that there is no self-identification nor is there an official form or letter. Moreover, I think it is rather illogical of a bank to issue instructions saying one would need to have a foreign trustee to withdraw money from a bank. What's most obvious to me though, is the sheer amount of money that her father has inherited. Who would share that much with a stranger? Also, the details that were asked of the reader are too personal to be given out to random people of the internet, despite them approaching us with the sweet promise of cash.

3. Based on the article, a critical thinker is one who takes his or her time in making a decision. In a certain subject matter, they tend to think more deeply about it. They are also people who do not feel ashamed in asking for help from others, as they humbly accept their lack of knowledge. From there, they have gained new knowledge and a new way of thinking easily. Assumptions are a big no-no for them, and they dare to challenge a subject by searching for a contradiction to the usual viewpoints that a normal thinker would create. Conserving mental energy is vital to them and they do not waste time thinking about things that bring no significance to them. It is quite interesting to be a critical thinker, to be able to think of all these ideas.

1. After watching the video, I think that critical thinking is when we think beyond the obvious and do not accept anything at its face value. Critical thinking can be easily understood as a process that we need to do before coming into a conclusion or a decision. Bias and feelings should be put aside during our judgement.

2. In my opinion, you should not believe this email. This is because we should protect our privacy and our personal information should not be exposed to strangers. In this email, the sender did not provide any supportive evidences that showed her story’s credibility. The email could be a scam that will trick us into their trap. Hence, we should not believe this email and always be careful in the future if any similar situations like this appear.

3.In my opinion, the characteristics of a critical thinker is to think slowly and build a strategy in a hard situation especially so that we can avoid any bad consequences. Other than that, a critical thinker should judge the strategies not the results. Thus, critical thinker need to be able to always come up with a good strategy even though the outcome is not satisfying.

1. Since my first class of CA last week, I keep questioning myself what is actually a critical thinking. As an activity, Dr Azizah also have assigned us to made a mind map about the meaning - what is critical thinking but at that time I just wrote anything I think suitable. Critical thinking, after I finished watching the video the idea is how we turn ourself become uncomfortable in order we think beyond the obvious. To think in that way there are two tools needed. First is skepticism, doubting the info or the truth. Second, objectivity which means we look in neutral perspective towards something. By doing that we get the ability to think critically and being obliged to change our minds when facts change.

2. The first thought that I have after reading this email is how that person can come up with a really nice setup of a storyline in order to trick people to get their money and personal info. In this era, we cannot easily believe something that we read or hear without doing some other research. After I read that email I try to search by myself the facts that the writer of that email wrote - and the only thing that comes out is totally about scamming because a lot of people also receive that email. You should not believe this email because there is something wrong when they ask for your personal details. You cannot freely willing to give the details to something that you not sure the truth yet. Just like what I did, to confirm your reading you need to double check it and make some research.

3. Someone who is a critical thinker is not literally just 'someone'. They are a person who has characteristics that really define them as a critical thinker. Every option can be wrong, this is a mindset that they have in order not to be careless by their every choice. A critical thinker does not rush into making choices, rather slow down if they get distracted or tired to conserve their mental energy. Same goes when they have doubt or hesitated. Every person has their limits. A critical thinker needs to know their limits and not become the person who knows everything happens in this world. Lastly, when they made a choices or decision and it goes wrong, a critical thinker does not blame the result nor give up. What they need to do is to re-check the strategies that they approved because something went wrong due to the bases. In this case, a critical thinker is a person that when they made a mistake, they knew there are several things that are wrong with their strategies and remake that strategy again.
:)

1. My opinion on what critical thinking is after having seen the video is that critical thinking is the ability to think ahead when making a decision. A person who applies critical thinking while making decisions is able to foretell the cause and effects of all the decisions that can be made to decide which outcome is the most viable. Futhermore, critical thinking allows a person to think outside the box and find an alternative solution to a problem which differs from the options given. The person is able to make a new way as means of solving a problem that at first sight might look like it only has one solution.
2. After i have read the email, i believe that it is not true. Therefore, it should not be believed in. The reason i say this is because firstly, how did this person randomly stumble upon your email. There is a low probability for the email writer to stumble upon your email. This shows that either the person was lucky enough to stumble upon your email or this is a scam. Secondly, why would someone randomly send an email to find a co-partner and bestow them with trust based of a few small details about themselves. This brings up suspicion about the email writer as it is completely and utterly unsafe to randomly send an email to someone asking for help especially on a large sum of money. Therefore, the high probability is that the email is fake as no one in their right mind would trust a complete stranger with an insanely large sum of money especially when the co-partner is made through an email conversation. Thirdly, out of all the millions of people in the world why were you chosen by this unknown person to help with his family and money problem. There are many other people in the world how is it that this persok decided that you would be the perfect person to help the email writer with his money problem especially when you have no knowledge of this person such as what is his identity or what he looks like. Therefore, this email should not be trusted.
3. The characteristics of a critical thinker is firstly, a critical thinker is calm and collective. A critical thinker is a person who thinks things through thoroughly before acting upon it. They calmly think
a solution even in a frantic situation, thus coming up with logical and solid solutions to any problem even in extreme conditions. Another characteristic of a critical thinker is that a critical thinker thinks outside the box. A critical thinker is a person who is able to come up of a solution that is outside of the given choices. This person is able to come up with a solution to a problem that is more prefavourable compared to the given options. Another characteristic of a critical thinker is that a critical thinker who is able to decide the pros and cons of any decision that can be made in a situation to find out which outcome is more favourable. This allows the person to think through all of his actions, thus never actually having any downsides

1. So, what is critical thinking, anyway?

Before I learned what critical thinking really is, I used to think that critical thinking is just as the words says- thinking in a critical sense. However, after having my first lesson on Critical thinking, I knew now that critical thinking is not what I initially thought it was about. Critical thinking is not by definition, 'critical' at all- it is more than that. I imagined like a beautifully decorated cake. On first sight, people will think that the cake is as delicious as it seems. That is until they decide to cut the cake and found out that it was actually a cupboard. If only they think for a moment what is actually underneath the beautifully decorated cake, they will not face disappointment. That is what critical thinking is- go beyond the obvious. Critical thinking is not to be used to seek conformation but by looking hard to things that we cannot explain- about what does not add up in the world around me and where the world miss the mark regarding what is agreeable to accept.

2. Should I or shouldn't I believe this email? Why?

No, I shouldn't believe in this email. As far as I can see, this email is a total scam. When I read this email, the first thing that comes in my mind is "Why me? Why not someone else? Who would be so generous enough to give someone like me so much money? Have we ever met?" Why would someone I never met in my life somehow emailed me about her life and how she would give me a generous amount of money to me in exchange for my private information? That seems kind of bizarre. So I tried to look up about the terrorist attack and found no significant information except the fact about the protest against military intervention which is kind of odd. As far as I knew, a terrorist attack is a federal matter and that there should be at least a news article about the attack. Then, I look up on the name of the deceased man and found a handful of website that mentioned his name, although not clearly what I was expecting. It turns out that this email was received by a number of people and they clearly said that the email was a scam. So for this, everyone should never trusted all kind of shady email like this because they might use it for some sort of identity theft and that a lot of people we know might suffer a dire consequences.

3. Characteristic of a critical thinker

In my opinion, a critical thinker has to approach a matter slowly because rushing is like having a rat to fix a pumpkin- it will only get worse. Critical thinkers are not superhuman- they have limited willpower, mental energy and attention. Thus they will find a working environment to help them focus. They take their time to say something they want or not at all because for them, doing something is not necessarily better than doing nothing. Also, a critical thinker also knows their limit of knowledge and for that, they will seek someone who knew about things they do not know. They never do something based on the results but their strategy. If someone do the wrong way for a good reason, their way is still wrong no matter the results. A critical thinker also can accept if what they believe is wrong like how they thought the world was flat while new knowledge contradict to it.

1.Based on the video, I believe critical thinking means the ability to think beyond the norm and what is generally consider acceptable.Critical thinking is not an indicator of one's own intellect but rather a habitual and strategical process.A person who does not think critically does not necessarily mean that person is not smart.Anyone can think critically but the problem lie's on the consumption of time. This way of thinking requires a strenuous amount of time consumption that discourage people from doing it and accept everything at face value. Critical thinking is also a practice of skepticism and objectivity. It enables people to question everything and find a more neutral standpoint. In relation to this statement, people will be more open to see a problem in a different view.To summarize, critical thinking is a process rather than intelligence that enables people to think beyond the general population's perception.

2.No.This is because I have never been in contact with this person either physically or virtually. Futhermore, this person does not provide any kind of evidence that would make me trust her statements nor did she do anything to lower my skepticism of her. Without anything to back her claim, I cannot give my personal information to her. Another factor that made the email highly suspicious is the the requirement of giving out my personal information. In today's era skepticism is key to live a careful life as many would use one's naivety for their benefits.Using that as my basis, I look up anything on the Internet to find any validity on her claim. Again, she came up short as there is nothing significant on that date that would scream TERRORIST. With so many points pointing me to ignore her I chose not to believe her.

3. Critical thinker have many traits that describe them. One such characteristics is slow down. If a problem that is in front of you requires strategy then a critical thinker would slow down an think carefully about their next move. By doing this they can think calmly on the desired outcome can be achieved. The second characteristic is conserving mental energy. A critical thinker surrounds themselves in a good environment that does not damage your mental energy. Other than that, a critical thinker also wait when the situations call for it. When someone wait any the solution for any problem can be seen much clearer. A critical thinker also know their limits. This means a critical thinker knows when to say no in a situation where they may not be ab expert in. Beware sunk costs is also a characteristic of a critical thinker. A critical thinker knows when something is not working and are not afraid to abandon it even if a lot time effort were spent on it. A critical thinker also do not allow one lucky break become the norm. When a bad strategy is used but good results were obtained that does not necessarily mean that you should continue using that method. A critical also used a good strategy even though the short term effects are not as extravagant. A critical thinker plays the long game. A critical thinker is not fooled by the noise of new things but see the underlying message of something that can affect greatly in the long term. A critical will go out of their way to challenge their way of thinking to see whether they are wrong or not. A critical thinker does not allow others determine what they should do. Finally, a critical thinker think outside of the box. They do not allow just the options that were given to them to be the only answer. They will find another way to solve that particular problem.

1. Critical thinking, in my eyes, would be the ability to think beyond basic capabilities of humans. We are primarily mammals, but also the only species able to think beyond our basic emotions and survival instincts. With such, we've developed the ability to think "critically", or past the amount we would intuitively think about something. Thinking beyond the realm of basic thought requires effort to dissect the different aspects or perspectives on an issue as well as to identify questions, answers or solutions to problems that might initially seem non-intuitive or unreachable without further thought. Critical thinking is a tool humans use to further expand the limitations of the mind in processing information beyond the point where we'd usually stop thinking.

2. No. The email is written in a way that it caters to telling a sad story with a hopeful end, meant to unlock a sense of pity and willingness to help in the reader. Despite this, time and time again we've been told not to trust emails with situations that seem too good to be true, and so one might immediately find this suspicious, especially since it involves money, phrased in the form of investments and family financial drama. It is most probably a scam, since it requests personal information and documents. The amount of money promised is absurdly large and would never be entrusted onto an unknown person, no matter how dire the situation may be.

3. The ten commandments for critical thinking are amazingly useful tips when one needs to delve deeper into an issue or topic of thought. Like mentioned in the video, there is a time and place to think critically, you cannot do it all the time like wonder if you should stop at a red light in traffic. A good time to think critically could be in class, when finishing a project, or at a debate tournament. In any case, the commandments surely ease the process of thinking critically. The brain would find it easier to access its thinking powers and find a solution to a problem or understand an issue better. In conclusion, our limits can be shortened with the right effort and actions, such as is presented in the article.

So what is critical thinking, anyway?

Critical thinking is thinking beyond the obvious. It makes us to doubt something before knowing the truth about it and to see something from neutral point of view that doesn’t pick a side. Critical thinking is hard to be done because it may cause others to feel uncomfortable. Many of the people always follows the majority while they don’t think critically about something. It also requires time, energy and also spirit and this causes many people doesn’t want to think critically. Critical thinking also can change one’s opinion about something that may be wrong unless we are confident to change the skepticism from others.

Should I or shouldn’t I believe this email? Why.

No, I shouldn’t believe it because it is very unreasonable to do so. Especially when I read the part that she is married, so why would she give that money to me since she will have her own child that can inherit that wealth. Plus, I don’t even know her name and her family. Why did she approached me to inherit her father’s money? Where did she get my email address and why did she tell me that she trust me? The most important part is if she knows me at least she knew my name or mention which country that I am living in. There would be so many question that will appear in my mind. I think that I shouldn’t put my trust easily towards these kind of email or message because so many people have reported that same type of cases.

Characteristics of a critical thinker.

In my point of view, we should take things slowly and don’t rush things over. Think about something over and over until we’re satisfied with our decision before taking some action. Next, we must stay focus about solving problem that we had but in the meantime, don’t waste too much time on it. Doing nothing and wait for the right time also can be the best action that we make and let time take care of the rest. Moreover, we may seek for help if we don’t know about something because others thought might come in handy. However, don’t expect so high towards the time and money we spent for something because we might failed to get what we want. If that happens, just face it boldly. We shouldn’t get too distracted by good result or the temporary success, come up with the next good strategy for upcoming challenge and look for the long term effects. Furthermore, we must put our contradiction or arguments towards something, so we can prove that is it the right thing to do or not. Other than that, we have to stick to our reference, don’t limit us to others terms and condition, so we can decide for our own instead.

1. Based on the video, critical thinking is thinking beyond the obvious. In my opinion, I think critical thinking is something that must have in everyone nowadays. It involves two concept which are scepticism and objectivity. Scepticism means doubting the truth or something. We shouldn’t easily trust or believe anything we see or told to. It is better for us to search the truth by our own before doing something. Next, objectivity means seeing something from a neutral point of view. Don’t do or decide something emotionally but think carefully about the pros and cons behind every decisions we made. Hence, everyone should have this way of thinking and consider those two concepts in order to be a great critical thinker.

2. No, I should not believe the email sent to me. I had a bad feeling after reading the email because I think she is not a not a nice person. Besides, in the email, it seems like she’s creating the story in order to ask for my sympathy. I kept thinking where did she get my email and why did she choose me? If she was really in a difficult situation, she should think the exact way to solve her problems. Since she was a daughter to a former minister, it’s quite impossible if she really didn’t has her own savings in case if an unexpected thing occurs. Then, I was also feeling curious when she told me to keep this email as our secret. Why I can’t tell about this to others if she’s really in trouble? So, we have to be careful especially when receiving that kind of email. Don’t trust easily to a stranger even though they are asking for help. It’s better for us to ignore the email than taking the risk by giving our personal information.

3. Characteristics of critical thinker

The first characteristic is slow down. We shouldn’t be rush especially in making decision. Then, conserve mental energy. It means that we have to be smart in managing our time and don’t waste our time with things that can distract our focus. Next, wait if we’re in doubt. Calm down and relax if we’re in a difficult or unwanted situation. Besides that, we have to know our limits means that we shouldn’t be shy with others if we don’t know about something. We better ask someone rather than remain silent. Next, beware of sunk costs. Do not expect too high with something that we’ve sacrifice and be sincere in anything that we’ve done. Then, don’t ever judge the results. Plan and do the best strategy in order to achieve successful. Most things revert to the mean! It means that we have to think further if things do not happen in our way. Next, we have to seek refutation and not confirmation. We must challenge ourselves instead of putting ourselves in a comfort zone. Then, beware of our frame of reference. We shouldn’t let others decide for us. Choose the best decision for ourselves. Lastly, every option can be wrong means that we have to think carefully the pros and cons of every option so that we will not regret in future.

1. So, what is critical thinking, anyway?

Based on the video, critical thinking can be defined as the ability to think beyond the obvious, deeply into the hidden messages. It is not thinking. A critical thinker does not simply think at the face, but beneath it. He/she usually thinks what underlies the surface. Critical thinking is not that smart people do most of the time or stupid people do least of the time. Instead, knowing when and how to engage critically is in fact critical thinking. A question of habit and strategy more than having solely intellect is also a part of critical thinking. Therefore, critical thinker is commonly a curious person. He/she will always be thirsty of knowledge and facts so as to satisfy the logics.

Fundamentals of critical thinking are comprised of scepticism and objectivity. Doubting the truth is the habit of a critical thinker and seeing something from a more neutral point of view is what they do most of the time. They develop a strong mind within themselves.

Thus, to be a critical thinker, we have to think like one. We have to make a paradigm shift from now onwards.

2. Should I or shouldn’t I believe this email? Why

As far as this email is concerned, I believe that this email is a mere scam. You should not trust such ludicrous email from someone you don’t even know who the sender is, what kind of background she is coming from and what type of personality she is of. In other words, you should not take this matter for granted because the stranger may be someone who shows her concern on your welfare purely to bait you to her set-up trap in order to put you in a plight. You should not be too gullible when dealing with this form of persuasive treatment. On that account, you should not believe this email.

From my point of view, first and foremost, the sender herself seemingly put the message in the email in a fishy hyperbole way. To have an axe to grind, it’s like there’s something not good beyond her offer from which she was concealing. In addition, it is a common sense that there’s scarcely an ordinary individual giving away fortunes to an absolute stranger. It does not make any logical sense. If I were the recipient of this email, “Why me? Why not other person? Why must it be me? Who am I to you? Have we ever met before?”, such thoughts would be juggling in my box of mind. Plus, there’s no even a single supporting details or evidence to prove that each and every statement she is proclaiming to be true. Libya is a sovereign state in the Maghreb region of North Africa and Burkina Faso is a landlocked country in West Africa. She said that she moved to Burkina Faso towards better life. But then, there is no continuity in the story she conveyed. There is no link between the part she told she received maltreatment from her step mother and the part she had left Libya. I think there is something missing between the two parts. What is the missing part she is hiding us from? Why didn’t she mention anything about how she got away from her uncles and step mother? She did not enunciate clearly the major reason to these questions in the email. She should have at least revealed a bit of her true identity by sharing several pictures of herself before soliciting your personal information. Not to mention, it is tremendously bizarre for some desperate stranger to share and invest such amount of assets you for no hidden agenda. 30% of US$7,200,000.00 is completely an immense amount of dollars, but you should probe more about this so as to not accept it blindly for your own sake of security.

To sum it up, you should never ever believe something told by any kind of people without thorough critical analysis about it. This is the main gist delivered by me.

3. Characteristics of a critical thinker

The first and primary characteristics of a critical thinker is they think slowly and apply attention in an effective way. At times, they get rid of things that require least attention. They spend more time in solving problems worth of a strategy. On top of that, a critical thinker conserves his/her mental energy. They deal with things in full-focused bursts by not letting others dictate their precious time and attention. That is essentially how a critical thinker works. Apart from that, critical thinkers will wait a bit before reaching the final decision. If they were clouded with doubts, they would pause for some time and become silent because pauses and silence sometimes can be the best friends of better thought. It is better to not pretend you know of something you don’t know.

1) In my opinion, critical thinking is meant to have a precise point of view about something.A person who is a critical thinker tends to be more straightforward compared to a considerate person in a situation.Critical thinking also causes a person to has a better view on their objective in doing something without being distracted.A critical thinker valued facts more to support their argument.Critical thinking might be good or bad depends on the situation but there are two concepts that can improve a person to become a well polished critical thinker.Skepticism, it means doubting the truth of something. Most people doesn't like changing their point of view on facts but by always being prepared to change their minds when facts change can make a person becoming better.Objectivity, it means seeing sonething from a neutral point of view.To be able to become an optimist and pessimist thinker would also make someone be able to make a comfortable decision and not become biased.

2) As for myself, i wouldn't trust this email because obviously after i read this email i searched for 'Dr Parizad Mohy' in the internet to verify the truth whether he is the former Libya minister of road or not.It turns out it is a fake character and therefore there is no more reason for me to believe this email. This email also give a lot og storytelling without a concrete proof that can support their claim. Then, for asking a personal information of others even before knowing them has made this email very doubtful and not trustworthy.

3) Among the characteristics of a critical thinker, a person need to be calm and analyse the situation calmly before making a decision.A stressful environment is meant to be avoided to prevent decision making that based on emotion.Find a suitable environment or situation that can help in increasing focus such as hearing music or going to a place with less noise. If the person is confused, getting advice from wise person or just let it be for a moment is also good.It is because this is mainly due to lack of experience therefore getting one from the one who knows or wait for the experience to come is the best way to learn. There is a saying that 'experiences is the best teacher'.Don't be ashamed of not knowing something because it will ruin a person morality and making them to become more egoistic. It is best to know ownself expertise and weaknesses.

After watching the video, basically critical thinking is the ability to solve problems and make the right decisions in our life. We cannot simply make decision without thinking because this will make our problems become bigger. To think critically, we need more energy and times to make sure we are making the best decisions. We also have to think the unexpected situation we might face so that we will be more prepared with the challenges. The vital concepts that we should take into account while thinking rationally are skepticism and objectivity. Skepticism is when the thinkers go beyond the obvious when having any difficult situation so that they get the best solution. Critical thinking do make us feel uncomfortable but with that, we can think rationally and compare the good and bad of certain situations. For example, critical thinkers are being skepticism when they are offered with something valuable so that they will not get tricked by someone. Besides, objectivity is seeing something from a neutral point of view. It means that, we should not be bias on some situations that we do not agree with. Therefore, these two concepts are important for us to be a critical thinkers.

2. Should I believe this? Why?

In my opinion, I should not believe this email. I knew she gave me some of her personal informations but how can we say that the informations are true? I don't see any documents or certificate as the evidence to prove her identity and situations. Furthermore, she said that her late father was a former Minister of road in Libya. Logically, a daughter of an important person should be well-known in the country. In this modern days, a prominent person and his family background can be found easily through internet. With this, we can get to know the truth. Besides, in the last part of the email, the sender stated that we should give our address, occupation, private phone number and many more in order to join the investment project with her. From this, we know that the main purpose of this email - to get our personal informations. Hence, I will not believe this as there are a lot of points that show the situation is not 'real'. Thus, we must think and act critically before making any decision because the quality of our life is depends on the quality of thought.

3. In my point of view, a thinkers have some characteristics that make them to think critically. Firstly, don't rush. It means that we have to slow down and think carefully eventhough it takes longer time. The longer time will produce a high quality thought. Secondly, we should not pretend that we know everything and we end up have no ideas at all about certain topics or situations. Better be a listener than a speaker. It doesn't mean that we do not know anything but with that, we can improve and increase our knowledge on that particular topic. Furthermore, a critical thinker judges the strategies instead of the results. Judging the results may lead to short term success only. In conclusion, we must improve our quality of thought by taking all of these characteristics into account while dealing with difficult situations.

1) In my opinion, from this video critical thinking is a thinking skills that many of us should apply in our daily lives. Many of us have this thought of something else beside what we usually learn or hear. From this thought came skepticism, where we doubt the truth. Critical thinking is also often touted as a superior way to confront the issues one faces. For example, we use a set of critical thinking skills to consider an issue. At conclusion, we make a judgment about what to believe, or a decision about what to do.

2) From the email ,firstly i will be skeptical about this email because it came from someone that I don't have any relationships with. After that, comes my action to believe this person or not. So this email is a good example to apply our critical thinking skills.
From my view, I will certainly delete or ignore this email because this person easily gives his/her personal information to strangers. Normal people don't do that so easily especially with someone new. I will also ignore this email because the content is ridiculous. How in the world would someone have that much money and have her daughter to come all the way from her hometown just to get the money in a bank so far away even the name of the bank is hardly known and suddenly when the daughter was just about to take it when suddenly she was told the conditions that you put in the bank. Normal people and bank officers would not waste their customers' time, instead they just contact you or your family members via email using a certified email and give their official contact number if you have any problem. And all fathers would not let any stranger to take advantage of his daughter just by marrying someone over money.

3) From the article, the characteristics of a critical thinker is you have to slow down if you were in tight spot. Other than that, a critical thinker must always develop their focus because we have limited attention. And sometimes time can be our little friend that helps us to get through something hard. Also as humans, we have our own limitation that we must overcome by seeking other people. In other words, a critical thinker must not dwell in the past and keep moving forward. In addition, we must always create a good strategy and do not stop trying until you get a good result.

Assignment 1- Critical Analysis

1. So, what is critical thinking, anyway? (after viewing the video)

After watching the video, not only once, but twice, I think I have a rough understanding on what critical thinking really is. You cannot simply categorize the ability to think critically according to someone’s intelligence, but instead, it depends on something way simpler; the ability for a person to think differently. And by differently, I mean the ability to think with two main tools mentioned in the video, which are skepticism and objectivity, not only as a habit but as a strategy to face challenges in our daily lives. Skepticism lies within someone who dares to doubt the truth of something, unlike people who accepts whatever that comes their way, not questioning any of it. This ability can be harnessed as we gain more knowledge to help us support new findings and contradict old ones. On the other hand, objectivity can be seen as something impossible and very difficult to be practiced by anyone as it require us to have an unbiased perspective, a neutral point of view on any changes implemented. This might be true but there are people who prove that it is possible by making constant progress in shaping the way they think. When there is a will, there is a way and thus, nothing is impossible as long as we try to do our best. Critical thinking is basically fueled by the curiosity of a person about the events happening around him or her. In this modern era where we are all spoon fed by technologies, with knowledge handed to us without much difficulties, we tend to have less opportunity to practice critical thinking. We are too used to being given information that we do not question it and accept it blindly. People may think that this stereotypical way of thinking is beneficial to all as it prevents uproars or rebellion, some may even claim it can retain peace but the sad truth is that thinking the mundane way debunks our development and ability to grow. Critical thinking is not being judgemental but it is proving something new that can cause change which then may lead to some people feeling uncomfortable. It is beyond obvious and forces us to change our minds on many issues in the world which can be challenging for people who are reluctant to accept changes. We must be able to think critically not to seek credentials or confirmation but to explain things that are hardly explainable or kept quiet for the sake of peace and normality.

2. Should I believe this? Why? (read the email)

I suggest that you do not believe this email because of a few reasons I think are crucial in deciding whether or not to doubt the authencity of this email. First of all, the woman mentioned that her late father was a minister. As known by many, ministers from whichever country are usually well-known and can at least be searched online for confirmation, to see if such a minister even exists. And as a minister, he must have had more than enough connections that could have helped his daughter with all these unsettled business. Not to mention, he must have known about his relatives supposedly planning to forcefully take all of his treasuries and assets or he could have at least expected this to happen. The first thing he would have done was to take proper measures to ensure that everything gets handed to his daughter. But then let us say that he was as ignorant as this woman implies him to be, and failed to see all of this unfold in the future. There are still a few more suspicious aspects to this email. This woman claims that her parents were killed on August 7, 2011 during a terrorist attack and yet you happen to receive this email on 29 November 2017, years after the incident. This sure screams fishy to me. Within that long period of time, she would have already found someone as a trustee to get her father’s possession. It also does not make sense that someone from Libya is actually asking you, a civilian of Malaysia for help. Libya is thousands of miles away from Libya and the fact that she is looking for a so-called trustee all the way in Malaysia simply does not add up. How did she even obtain your email address? Why would she suddenly choose you, a stranger she never met before and ask for your personal details, when you barely know anything about this woman except for her story which can be excerpt from one of the books she read, for all I know. Nobody, I dare say, would put trust in someone else, especially a stranger to give 30% of her fund and invest in your country. There are too many loop holes in her request which you cannot afford turn a blind eye on as it might affect you terribly. Giving away personal details to known authorities can still be a danger to ourselves, more so if it is to a stranger. The fact that she asks you to not tell anybody else really just seals the deal. Like I have mentioned before, her relatives are miles away, what harm could it do to tell someone you know here. Clearly she has a hidden agenda and she must be up to no good requesting people’s personal details in this deceitful manner. She offered no details of herself which is of value and therefore, you should not share yours as well. Precaution is well needed in this case and the best thing to do would be to delete the email you received and help prevent future criminal acts by reporting mails like this one to the authorities.

3. Characteristics of a critical thinker (after reading 'Ten commandments for critical thinking' and answering the quizzes)

A critical thinker should be able to slow down and not rush into things in their daily lives as this would allow them decide whether they have to create a well-planned strategy in order to handle the crisis at hand or not to worry too much about unnecessary or unimportant matters. This allows a person to adjust how much attention he or her needs to give to every aspect of life without wasting time or energy. This will be a huge advantage which allows us to conserve mental energy as all of us have limited willpower. Knowing exactly what needs most of your attention helps us to focus on our tasks better and organize our time effectively. Doing something earlier does not necessarily mean that it is a good thing to do and doing something later does not mean it is a bad thing either. To differentiate which is which, we need to be skilled enough to use time to benefit us in the best way possible. Pretending to be a know-it-all does not help too. It takes courage for someone to admit that he or she does not know a particular thing or simply has no experience in that discussed area. This is another relevant characteristic of a critical thinker. This will then stimulate the urge for us to know more and seek knowledge. We must be able to take risk and face the consequences that come with it as well. As long as we had put in effort, whatever the result may be, a critical thinker would be able to accept it and move on instead of hanging on to the past. By not giving up easily, somehow, we will be able to rise again with perseverance and persistence. Critical thinkers can contradict something with the proof needed and argue, not for the sake of recognition, but to seek out the truth in the end. A critical thinker must always think before acting to avoid mistakes that can be avoidable and thus cause less problems that might arise in the future. With all these characteristics planted deep within oneself, being a critical thinker will not be that big of a deal.

1. In my opinion, I think critical thinking is a way of thinking about ourselves, and other people around us. It is also a way to think of the situation happening and how true do we think the situation is and how would we handle it. Besides, critical thinking is actually is not a normal way of thinking where we rarely think critically in our daily life, which we will only think critically when we are facing critical situation. Other than that, critical thinking is scepticisms where you are having doubts in believing on something and objectivity is to see something without bias or in a neutral point of viewSo generally, critical thinking is how you think about you, people around you and how would you handle the situation.

2. Based on the email, I think that you should not believe the email because it seems very suspicious. There are many questions coming out from that email such as where did she get my email?, was she just picking random people and sent the email?,etc. Besides that, the sender asked for private informations such as identity card number, photograph and others that are actually only eligible for personal and government purpose. Other than that, who would trust a foreign stranger to transfer all of your money into their account? Even if your family members are fighting against you to get all of the assets left behind, you should at least find a person who you have known for quite a long time and trusted them, then you could ask their help. Another reason is that nowadays, a lot of things happened that cause other people trouble by scamming or faking some of their act. Thus, you should not believe the email you received to avoid from any scamming act to happen to you.

3. One of the characteristics of a critical thinker is that one should slow down in making a decision where he should take a pause and think if it is matter to have a deep thought. If that matter does need a deep thought, then just leave it for a few days before making the deciosion. A critical thinker should be able to stay focus in anything that they are doing without getting interrupted by friends or gadgets. Besides, to be a critical thinker one should not pretend to know what they do not know, instead they should ask what they do not know frequently to increase the ability to think critically. It is important to judge the strategies and not the results as good strategies will assure good results but if you do not get what you wanted it is worth to repeat it again until you succeed. We should never give up whenever we fail and always learn from our mistakes so that we can avoid the same failure. Other than that, we should look for the long term instead of the short term results. Thus, we should think wisely before making a decision because maybe all of the choices are actually bad for us so we have to many none of the choices. Generally, those are the characteristics of a critical thinker should have.

1. After watching the video, I think that critical thinking is the ability to think for ourselves, to know about anything that happens around the world. Critical thinkers will be able to determine the sincerity of others. Critical thinking is also a skill that can be developed through training and intensive practices. Critical thinking is to go beyond the obvious and question it. A critical thinker will not follow other’s orders blindly. They will consider carefully before accepting any idea or opinion from others. People are usually attracted to people that are less aggressive in speaking. However, a critical thinker will speak out the truth although their words might hurt the others. Skepticism and objectivity are something that will help us to become a critical thinker. Skepticism is doubting the truth of something while objectivity is trying to see something from more neutral point of view. A critical thinker will not include their emotion or feeling while making decision to make a correct and precise decision. A critical thinker should see a problem or situation in a bigger picture without being bias on only one side. All in all, as a critical thinker, we should be able to state the truth when we encounter any problem although it might hurt others feeling.

2. In my opinion, I should not believe this and also refrain from giving my personal information to the sender. This is because the sender does not provide any official documents to prove her credibility. It might be a scam. Besides, we should always not to provide any personal information to anyone we do not know, especially those who randomly get our email from anywhere. We should always think rationally because we do not know why the sender will be able to get our email and send us email that says that she will be giving us a huge amount of money. Even though we might be attracted by the amount of money given, we should not simply accept gifts from strangers. In addition, the sender keeps on repeating the sad story about her, it is just to persuade us into giving her all our personal information by trying to win sympathy points from us. In a nutshell, we should always be careful when we receive such email by making sure we do not fall into the trap and give the sender our personal information.

3. In my opinion, one of the characteristics of a critical thinker is to slow down and think carefully. A good strategy is needed to solve the problem. Although our brains will be lack of ideas while thinking to solve the problem, we should rest for a while and do not worry too much. Besides, a critical thinker should be able to conserve mental energy. Habits and a good working environment should be built to help us focus in our work. We should pay attention and not to waste time unmeaningfully. A critical thinker also must be able to be patient. Do not rush while encountering difficulties. Try to be patient and unintentionally, the problems will be solved. However, while waiting, we must also think alternative ways to solve it. In addition, we should always be humble. When we do not know about something, do not pretend that we know about it. We should just admit that we do not know about that. However, we must also try our best to find out how to solve the problems. Don’t over-value what we have just because we have it. Moreover, a critical thinker should always judge the strategies instead of the results. Bad strategies with a good outcome is always bad strategies, while good strategies are still worth repeating although they might not work out well. We should not only focus on short term success. We should always seek refutation but not confirmation. We should also always seek out for challenges and contradictions to prove something happened. Last but not least, we, as a critical thinker, must not always expect the answer we get are always correct. Every option can be wrong. Thus, we must always think rationally and wisely before making any decision to prevent ourselves from making wrong decision and for the best result.

1) So, what is critical thinking, anyway? (after viewing the video)

Critical thinking is skill developed by humans to have to ability to think for themselves and to have query about the things which are happening around. A person with high critical thinking skill able to detect whether others are sincere while befriending with them. Critical thinkers will know others are insincere and wanting to exploit benefits from them. Critical thinking skills can be developed through intensive training and consistent practice as well as patience. One who fails to think critically in daily lives will only judge something based on the face value without considering the consequences. Critical thinkers are often being called aggressive in speaking out their minds. Instead, people are usually more attracted to people who are less aggressive and supportive at any idea. Those who are easily agree to others without thinking about the ideas thoroughly in mind are uncritical thinkers. Nevertheless, uncritical thinkers are not stupid and critical thinkers are not always the smart ones. People are capable in thinking critically but they just do not do so. This is because they simply give excuses like insufficient of time, energy and mood to think in a critical manner. There are two tools which are important in helping one think critically, which are scepticism and objectivity. Scepticism means doubting the truth of something while objectivity means seeing something from a neutral point of view. While thinking critically, one should set aside all his or her bias and prejudice in judging something to make the best choice.

2) Should I believe this? Why? (read the email)

No, I should not believe this. This is because the whole story narrated by the sender is too dramatic and fake. The sender is probably making this whole story up to create a trap for others to hop in. The email also aimed to get private information like ID numbers, phone numbers and home address from the receiver. Thus, it is obvious that the sender is creating a scam using this email to trick others into their designed trap. They used high amount of money to attract people to fall prey to their trick. I have doubts about their motive behind the long and sad drama. I am guessing that they want to use money to exploit money from others. This is a slick and clever scam to trick people with no critical thinking skills. As for the critical thinkers, a first glance will reveal how fake is the email to the receivers. The scam is also too good to be true because it offers high amount of money to the one who accepts to help the sender. It is impossible for a stranger to offer such high amount of money. There are also no certified documents or proves to show that the sender is not creating a scam. There is no way anyone should believe such ridiculous email from a stranger.

3. Characteristics of a critical thinker (after reading 'Ten commandments for critical thinking' and answering the quizzes)

A critical thinker is able slow down his or her path and think calmly about which strategy to overcome when encountering a serious problem. Moreover, a critical thinker is clever in paying their attention on the prioritized tasks rather than wasting time and energy on less important tasks. A critical thinker develops positive habits and good in choosing a conducive environment to focus on certain project or task. Other small unrelated or irrelevant things will not distract them. A critical thinker has patience and silence in dealing with difficult problems. Furthermore, a critical thinker also knows his or her limits and they will consider thoroughly before deciding by considering their strengths and weaknesses. A critical thinker also never over-value what he or she has just because he or she owns it. Other than that, a critical thinker also does not judge a successfulness of an event by its results. Instead, he or she focus on the strategies used. A critical thinker is someone who looks at the long term. He or she is matured and experienced enough in dealing with hard tasks. Furthermore, a critical thinker also re-examine the old theories forced by precious evidences. Last but not least, a critical thinker is very rational in deciding the best option for the best outcome.

Unfortunately, we don’t have much time to analyze what we have done in our daily life. Critical analysis is consist of skeptivity and objectivity. In my opinion the best thing about critical thinking is to believe something to be true.

2. I should not believe this email because how on earth that a son of a president can know and choose me to share 30% from millions dollar. Next, if he really believes me, why did my private phone number, ID and photograph. If he can get my email, he should already study about my background before trusting me.

3. Based from the article 'Ten commandments for critical thinking', I think the most important requirement for a critical thinker are, first, know your limits because there are things that human minds cannot think over it such as the existance of God. Next, judging the strategy not the results because everything begins with a good strategies. for example, eventhough a football team has prodigy players but if the manager cant pull out all of their abilities or do not know what is the suitable role for him then the team will be lose anyway but a team with average players with a good strategies then they can win the match for sure.

1. After watching the video, my point of view regarding critical thinking is simply to go beyond the obvious. Thinking critically involves accepting something at face value after pausing to consider its sensibility and justification. Knowing how and when to engage critically is a question of habit and strategy because not being able to be a critical thinker does not mean that someone is stupid or slow and vice versa. Skepticism and objectivity are two crucial tools that engage with a man’s ability of thinking critically. Critical thinker usually doubt the truth of something and see something from a neutral point of view by setting aside all of their feelings and bias as far as possible when making decisions. When facing with a certain situations or circumstances, not only we should be able to explain why we believe something is true but also being obliged to change our minds when facts change. A critical thinker would never accept arguments or statements without any supportive stands and prove.

2. In my opinion, you should not believe the e-mail and restrain yourself from replying to the e-mail as it seems very dubious and doubtful. It is eerie on how and where the sender got your e-mail from and why did she chose you, out of many mankind living on the globe? It is even more suspicious that she did not give any of her personal information and didn’t provide letter from the bank to prove her credibility and also to ensure that her story is really genuine and authentic. This is most likely a fraud.

Hence, it is not advisable to believe the content of the e-mail and to provide all your personal information to the sender as stated.

3. A critical thinker should slow down and conserve mental energy to plan strategies before making any decision or taking any action. If we found ourselves being in any doubtful events, stay silent and pause to give ourselves some time to think and decide our next step. Do not act smart when we know nothing about the subject and learn to acknowledge our flaws if there is something that we do not know about. If your input doesn’t correlate with the truth, even if you have invested in a lot of money, time and effort, cut your losses. Judge strategy, not results. Keep following the right strategy do not be too obsessed with short term success. Much of it is just luck. By keeping in mind that most things revert to the mean, we should always look to the long term and the underlying trends as things tend to recover over time. Think beyond the possibilities. Seek out challenges and contradiction and never agree to an argument before getting a supportive stands and genuine test results. Last but not least, define your time reference in advance and be primed to listen to any rejection of the deal. Look outside the frame and think of any possible way of thinking.

1. Before coming across the video, I saw critical thinking merely as an act of looking at something big critically. It never crossed my mind that critical thinking can be applied in every aspect of life because, as the speaker in the video said, most of the time people don’t do critical thinking because not everyone has the time, energy and enough practice to apply critical thinking in your daily life. The video gave a few good examples of how critical thinking is applied such as thinking whether a green light really means to go or deeming spaghetti as the superior pasta. Critical thinking brings out the questions in every obviousness that happens around us hence why uncritical thinking is obvious and exist all around us. One of the characteristics of critical thinking is making yourself feel uncomfortable by going beyond the obvious. A way of critical thinking is asking what you don’t know when you know something about a particle topic. However, critical thinking is not equivalent to being stupid nor it is something that smart people always do. Critical thinking is more a question of habit and strategy rather than intellect. When you have the right tools, you can questions almost anything critically, and the speaker in the video gave us just the right two tools in order to think critically. The first tool being ‘skeptism’ which means doubting the truth about something. While the second tool is ‘objectivity’ meaning seeing something from a neutral point of view. George Orwell, in his book, 1984 magnificently portrays a protagonist who put his critical thinking skill to a good use. To have a vigorous thinking skill is to explain why we believe something to be true, other than being obliged to change our minds when facts change. However, the main problem as to why critical thinking is deemed hard to apply by most people is because they don’t like to change, especially their mind. Long story short, challenging yourself by asking yourself “can you think of an idea that challenges your belief” is what critical thinking is all about.

2. At first glance, my suspicion about the letter is hard to be doubted as receiving such lengthy mail from someone who is not in my contact nor any newsletter that I subscribed to is already enough to build up the suspicion. Other than wondering where on Earth this Shima got my email from, after reading through the email, several questions seem to be assembled easily which somehow explains why this mail is dubious. First of all, the writer claimed that her father, Dr. Parizad Mohy is the former Minister of road in Libya. As if to answer my doubt right away, the writer has given me the straight path to confirming whether the mail is a scam or nor as I can easily confirm whether this proclaimed fact is indeed a fact or not. Her father being someone so prominent in the industry seems not possible for me to know. Her parents were killed on August 1, 2011, but the mail was received just a few days ago. What causes the delay? Why did her step mom and uncles team up by threatening to kill her instead of just asking someone in the family to marry her off? Not to mention that going to Burkina Faso from Libya is no easy feat for someone who is desperate need of money. Father’s instruction is highly suspicious, asking her daughter to trust a stranger when even her relatives threaten to kill her. If she wants to keep it a secret, she shouldn’t have emailed me as everything that we share online is really no secret to anyone in this millennium.

3. A critical thinker is someone who asks the whys in every whats in her or his life. In order to practice this habit, one should slow down to think whether the thing that is in question should be pondered upon or not. If not, then feel free to press the resume button. Next, focusing your willpower on a specific thing at a specific time is crucial in order to become a critical thinker. An important characteristic is to wait. You don’t simply get the results that you want straight after asking a critical question. Critical thinking is not about results, but progress. Other than that, knowing when to say “I don’t know" when you really don't know is a feat that a critical thinker develops the habit for. Then, work for the long terms. Seek refutation, not confirmation. Always ask yourself, is there another frame of perspective I can this issue from? Always ask yourself if you're given any choice in any situation.

1. So, what is critical thinking, anyway? (after viewing the video)

From the video that I have watched, critical thinking is taking a moment to go beyond the obvious and asked what you actually know and do not know. Although it is hard to understand what is critical thinking we can always know whether it is critical thinking because it is the opposite of uncritical thinking. Uncritically thinking is accepting something just the way it is and when you think without considering to stop for a moment and think whether a statement is sensible or justified. Nevertheless, if we have the right tools which are skepticism and objectivity we can think critically. Skepticism means doubting the truth of something. While an objectivity means trying to see something in a more neutral point of view, trying to set aside our own feelings and bias as far as possible and to establish the fact that matter. It may sound easy and obvious but critical thinking seems unnatural to most people as it is to step out of your comfort zone and think more deeply on something. This is because critical thinking is not only explaining why we believe something is true but also being obliged to change our minds when facts change. This is a hard thing to do because people tends to have difficulty to change their minds. Even though perfect objectivity is impossible but the progress is not because beliefs nowadays can change after time because of new knowledge result from critical thinking. If we test our thinking not only for confirmation but by looking hard for things that we cannot explain and by asking ourselves what does not add up in the world around us and where the world fall short of what it might be comfortable to assume, this is critical thinking.

2. Should I believe this? Why? (read the email)

From the email that I have read, I must say that you should not believe the content of the email and you should never send your personal information to this person who claim that she is Miss. Sharon Mohy. This is because of so many reasons that I found suspicious in this email. Firstly,is because of the date you received this email which is on 29 November 2017 and the sender mention about the dormant state of the account because of her father death has pass about a year and six months which is on 7 August 2011. This show a huge contradictions in both of this situations because it is already about 7 years apart from the death of her father for her to search a trustworthy person to help her in transferring the money.Secondly,is the most suspicious part is how does the sender found out your email address and why you were chosen when you live in Malaysia and the sender is living in Libya.moreover, it is very suspicious when the sender asked for your personal information only to earn the trust of a so called rich successor. This is because everyone knows it is hard to trust someone you barely know and your personal information does not even reflects how trustworthy you are. On top of that the sender claim that she wanted to start a new life with the money but then she claim that she wanted to invest the fortune she has gained to other people country. This show a contradiction to her claim. This are the reasons that you should not believe this suspicious mail.

3. Characteristics of a critical thinker (after reading 'Ten commandments for critical thinking' and answering the quizzes)

The characters of a critical thinker is to slow down. This is when you pause and make a strategy and ask do the things matter and is it require deep thoughts. Then get rid of the unnecessary things and only think critically to what matters the most. Next is conserve mental energy by build habits and a working environment that help you focus and deal with things that require focus in a certain time where your focused is bursts and do not let others dictate your time and attention. Thirdly if in doubt a critical thinker will wait, this is when you think more deeply. Fourthly, is to know their own limit, this is when you admit that you do not know about something and seek for someone help. Beware of sunk costs, this is when if you are failing you must be brave to cut losses. Next is judge strategy, not results, this is when strategy is more important than the result itself. People who is a critical thinker judge by looking in the long term not because of something that is bound to happen. Besides that, a critical thinker must not seek for confirmation on certain thing but seek out challenges and contradictions, and put arguments and beliefs to a genuine test. They beware of frame of reference where they know the stated values in relation to which measurements or judgements can be made. Last is to consider every option can be wrong and choose the most benefits one.

Answers

1. (From the video), In my opinion, critical thinking is all about the taking a moment to go beyond the obvious and ask what you do and you do not know. In other words, critical thinking is thinking rationally after all the sensibility and justification of something is considered. Most of the time, people do not think of what they are doing simply because we do not have much time. However, not being able to engage critically does not mean that particular person is stupid. Two related concept, skepticism and objectivity are said to be the crucial tools to develop critical thinking in one’s mind. Skepticism means doubting the truth of something while objectivity means trying to see something from a neutral point of view. By developing critical thinking, the person is able to explain something they know and is obliged to changed their mind when facts change.

2. In my opinion, I should not believe this kind of email. This is because the whole email sounds like a made up story and it does not make sense. Why would anyone trust a stranger so much instead of their own family to inherit their wealth. The sender should find someone who they have known for quite some time instead of trying to give it to a stranger. The sender also asked for some personal information in which involved only in personal or government purpose. This email is obviously a scam. The sender did not even provide her personal information and kept telling her sad stories as if she was trying to manipulate the receiver. We all should think rationally and avoid this kind of email as it can be dangerous if our personal information falls to the wrong hand.

3. The characteristics of a critical thinker are able to slow down and do not rush into making decision. A critical thinker should capable thinking deeply and constructing a strategy if needed when facing problems. Other than that, they can conserve mental energy. They can do this by building habits and a working environment which help you focus. Most importantly, do not let others dictate your time and attention. Next, a critical thinker would not jump into conclusion right away when they are facing doubtful situation. They will wait first and think deeply whether their action is worthy or not. A critical thinker knows what they are capable of. They are aware of their limit and they do not pretend to know something they do not know. They will seek out others’ expertise where theirs runs out. Apart from that, a critical thinker will never over valued things just because they have it. If it’s failing, they just cut their losses. They do not get shackled to their past. A critical thinker never judge results. They will judge the strategy instead and keep doing the right thing. Most things revert to the mean. They have to think further in case things did not work their way. A critical thinker has to seek refutation and not confirmation. Then, they will never let anyone decide for them. They choose the best decision for themselves. Last but not least, a critical thinker needs to think the pros and cons of every option so that they will not regret it in the future as every option can be wrong.

1. In my opinion, critical thinking is a habit that must be developed in all individual. In this world, critical thinking is important as without it, we, all human cannot develop our life and mind as the technology today happened as the critical thinkers are always make the innovation and ideas to improve the life. As in the video showed that, we can improve our life with the attitude of critical thinking. in my understanding about the video on critical thinking is not necessary to be excel in the academics so on, but to be clever about what to do beyond the situation that given to us. for example, the video stated that how the people used to think that the world is flat, but then, the critical thinker doubt about the fact and find the truth with knowledge that the world is round is still amazed me. Lastly, critical thinking are all about how we want to improve ourselves, change our mind when the fact change and how we want to handle a problem wisely.

2. I think that I should not believe this email as it looked suspicious to me. After read this email, I noticed that this email asked me about my personal info and make me very uncomfortable to give that to the sender of this email. Other than that, I felt weird that about all the human in this world, why this Miss Sharon Mohy asked me a completely a stranger to her to be her presenter to withdraw the money that all of us are very sensitive when we talk about money. I thought that, if I became her, I would asked someone that very closed to me such as relative or best friends to be the presenter to receive 30% from the money that her father had given to her. and why she bother to asked the strangers still disturbing me. I also felt suspicious about this email as how could she know my email address to send this email as I live in Malaysia and she is from Libya? And why it should to be secreted as she just announce that she wanted to find some honest people to be her presenter to some random people. Lastly, I decide to not believe this email and ignore it to my own personal info to be secured.

3. Based on my reading on the article about Ten Commandments For Critical Thinking, I discovered that the characteristic to be critical thinker are know how to slow down. When we find something that important to us, we must take our time to think the strategies to excel in this very important things. Secondly, conserve mental energy means that we should throw the things that inhibit us from taking our time to do something, such as when we want to do our homework, we must focus on it for 100% and ignore the social media that can take our time and mind from finishing the task in the given time. Thirdly, if in doubt, wait, when we find that things became harder to us to handle, we can take the way to leave it for sometime so that our mind will become more clearer on should what we do for the next step. Moreover, time also can be the healer to fix some problem in our life. Then, know your limit is about our honesty with our own ability. Do not show off as we are all clever about something. Do not feel embarrass if we did not know something. Just honest and state that we did not know about it. It is a way for us to seek the knowledge if we did not know about some information. Furthermore, a critical thinker did not judge results, they judge the strategies. They think more about long time effect rather than short time as we know that we will not just life for now, we still have our own future that wait for us. So think about ourselves in the future on how to be better of ourselves for the next time.

1. Based on my opinion, critical thinking is about learning to think twice about what is obviously observed by our five senses. It is not just that, it is also about creating questions about the justification of the situation, questioning the event. Living in this modern age makes critical thinking to be really essential. As a student, I am facing and bombarded with abundant information from the screen of my laptop, smartphone and social media. It could be anything, fake news, hoax, fraud e-mails are very much to be engaged by the society of this generation. Therefore, I need to be a well critical thinker as it is the key skill in coping with this information and communication era. Critical thinking skill enables us to differentiate between bad and good sources. It makes us better at the basic of making arguments, to come up with explanation that sticks on a particular subject and giving a solution. It grants value and appreciation to an individual’s ideas rather than just following other people’s words blindly without asking is it true or wrong. In a short term, it is all about thinking out of and beyond the box.

2. From my point of view, I already have trust problem when I read the e-mail briefly. I would neither believe nor disbelieve it. Honestly, I will just ignore the e-mail and put it in the trash. However, I need to give my own justification. The sender does not possess any evidence whether her statement is true or not. Plus, I cannot identify whether she is really a female or not. Too much questions come out from my mind. Is there really minister road in Libya? Why I was chosen? She should send the legal documents related to her problem attached with the e-mail at least. But, who knows she just has her own privacy. The main tool that she tries to get recipient’s attention is by sympathy. Issues related to money funding are quite serious and it also much related to fraud especially when the communication is not face to face. There is too much information lack and questionable from her which I can critically reason to search for the truth. Nevertheless, I can conclude that I would not trust this e-mail. It is not about intellectual or dumb to take the action but it is all about reasonable action to avoid the possibilities of getting the risks on me. Who knows, the subject is in a real situation but does not know the correct ways to ask for help from others. So, let’s just pray for her and everybody else.

3. Characteristic of a critical thinker is to slow down when thinking deeply. Get on with the situation smoothly. Don’t be too rush as it will worsen the results. Apart from that, our mental energy is limited so we need to enhance it by building habits focused on our aim and don’t let ourselves to be distracted. Critical thinkers also should be full of patience especially in term of time. Some difficult problems demand more time in solving so patience is the key, just like doing assignments at the nick of time. Plus, if we don’t have our thoughts or points on a particular subject, just be honest that we know nothing rather than giving nonsense explanation which makes us look like a fool. Moreover, as a critical thinker we need to bear in mind that our effort might be useless as the results are unacceptable. However, don’t worry too much because what critical thinkers should focus about is mainly the strategy, the methods not the results. Most importantly, critical thinkers should have correct sources for thinking. It affects our way to give response to any issue wisely.

Sincerely,
madobae

1.After watching the video, my opininion, critical thinking is one thing that will help us to make the best decision in one situation. Critical thinking make we find some evidences or proves to believe in something. It is a way of thinking that makes us not easily believe in any arguments and statements without any supporting evidences.
Most of the people do not aware with this thing and easily be fooled by someone because they are accepting arguments and blindly believe in them. To prevent this from happen, we need to think in crital thinking way.
2. In my opinion, we should not believe in this email and i confirmed confident this email is one the spam. Outside there, many people trying to steal someone identity by this way. So, i think this person is trying to do the same.

1. What is critical thinking anyway?

For me, critical thinking is some way of thinking that need the person to keep asking themselves about something until he/she felt satisfied with the infomations or facts that he/she just get. Other than that, it is an ability to think and find the answer of the curiousity that rose up when a new information being processed into the brain.
But, after watching the video, I get to know about a critical thinker does not depends on how intelligent you are but how much your curiousity and how do you critically think aboutsomething before you surrender to allow the new thing get into your brain. People might not very like the idea about how you think about themselves, what they are wearing or why they are wearing the colour today but this is the way how critical thinker thinks.

2. Should I believe this? Why?

I would not believe this because i found out that this email is really suspicious. The first question would be in my mind if i received the email is how can she get my email adress and why me? The next question is, why doesnt she tell her lawyer about her stepmother who threated her and might force her to give the treasure to them. Why she wants to invest the money in my country when she can invest to the country who have higher currency. The thing can be solved with people who have higher authority and she can bring this to people who can help her ro solve this problem.

3.

1. So what is critical thinking, anyway?

Critical thinking is a principle of thinking where a person thinks about something thoroughly to make a better judgement. In example, before a person makes a decision, that person will think about the advantages and consequences of the decision that he or she will make. From the video, I realised that everybody can be a critical thinker. Thinking about something critically is not depends on your intelligence or your knowledge. It is depends on how much your curiosity to know the truth about it and how you let your surrounding affects your thinking. Critical thinking is a way of thinking where we think out of the box - beyond the range of a normal person’s thought. In other words, it is a concept which needs us to be more sensible when making a decision.

2. Should I believe this? Why?

First of all, the email received is very suspicious. There are a lot of question exploding in my mind like a fireworks when read it. First, if she needs someone to be her trustee, why she chose me in a million people? Second, how did she gets my email account in a fact that her and I were not in the same country? Third, if she really wants me to her trustee, she should meet me first face by face and explain it properly which is not by the email. Forth, the information that she wants are all about personal information. It is a grave danger to give a stranger our own personal information. If I am the one who received that email, probably I will just ignored it and think it as a spam. This is because there’s no guarantee that the story and information that she told is true. In my opinion, it might be a syndicate technique in creating personal identity to be part of the country. Hence, the probably things that I will do are just ignored the email and block the sender. I must think about my safety first before thinking about other people.

3. Write a response on characteristics of a critical thinker.

Critical thinker is someone who can think sensibly and fair. In my opinion, to be acritical thinker, we have to think slowly, deeply and understandingly about the certain topic. However, the most important element as a critical thinker is to stay curious and cautious about something. It is fundamental to not let people or surrounding affects your judgement. A critical thinker must stand firm with their own opinion but in a way that not rejecting others opinion blatantly. In a conclusion, it is important for us to apply this manners in order to be a critical thinker.

1. From the video, critical thinking is an ability to think more and go beyond the obvious. It means to ask ourselves of what we do or don’t actually know about something. Critical thinking is tricky to pin down. Accepting something at a value without pausing to consider whether it is sensible or justified is what we think uncritically. But it is not the same as being stupid. As the reasons, it is not practical to wonder every time about the same thing in our daily life. This is because we don’t always have the energy and time. Critical thinkers are knowing when and how to engage critically with the question of habit and strategy more than intellect. For this, we need the “right tools”. The two concepts are skepticism and objectivity. With this tools, critical thinkers prefer to think beyond the obvious by doubting the truth of something and the decision will be made from a neutral point of view to evaluate the problem, set aside bias. New knowledge prompted skeptical thinkers to challenge the existing knowledge as the accumulation and analysis of new knowledge brought new understanding. Critical thinking is also explaining why we believe something to be true and being obliged to change our minds when facts change.

2. When I read this email thoroughly, what I feel are curious and suspicious. Whether am I believing it or not, I need to read it twice. Is it really true about all of the informations that Miss Sharon Mohy said? So, first thing first, I look out and search for her statements and places which she mentioned in the email. As for his father who is a minister of road, it’s really bothering me that she didn’t mention the full name of him. I consider it is not worth believing. For the terrorist attack, it seems that was a true report which occurs as the Battle of Tripoli in Libya but this person can easily correlate this incident with her conflict. If she threatened to be killed, why she needs to tell you out of every person in the world? You can’t do anything about her conflict. One other thing is the conditions to get all the money from the bank by her late father. Why need to ask the foreigner as a trustee and moreover, they want to invest in our country. This is not a coincidental matter. The most suspicious thing is to give your personal information to help her. Obviously this email is a scammer to bait people for giving them money with the good interest to give you 30% of the fund. It is a lot of money. This is what we called phishing scams. Why risk the 30% of the fund for the person she doesn't know besides her friends and close relatives? Out of every person in this world, she chose you. Creepy. We still don’t know this person really exists or not. It’s such a big risk to give our personal information to whom we don’t know the person at all.

3. A critical thinker needs to slow down when having a deep thought. So, a strategy should be made to solve the problem. Mental energy is important to be conserved. This can be done by building habits and working environment that help to focus. To get a better thought, pauses and silence are required. To a critical thinker, you should know your limit and do not pretend to be all-knowing when you actually don’t know. Instead, seek out the expert to solve the problem. Besides, a critical thinker should always judge the strategy whether it’s good or bad but judging by results is a fatal. The mind of a critical thinker is always to seek out challenges and contradictions besides of seeking for confirmation on a certain thing. Lastly, a critical thinker must be in the neutral point of view that a rational decision will be made as in the future, every option could be wrong.

Assignment 1

1. So, what is critical thinking, anyway?
After watching such an informative video, in my opinion, critical thinking is basically doing something or thinking beyond our knowledge and things that we obviously know. In such situation we should ask what we know and don’t know to ourselves and tend to think based on it. It is also a matter of not accepting something at face which means that we shouldn’t believe anything or anyone without proper consideration and justification. Furthermore, we can also say that critical thinking is something that depends on skepticism and objectivity. In simple words, we should sometimes have a sceptical view on certain things where we should doubt the truth and not trusting it fully and also have the ability to see something from a neutral point of view which indicates that we shouldn’t be bias or consider our personal feelings and requirements when taking a critical decision in life. Lastly, another form of critical thinking, which is the rigorous critical thinking means that we shouldn’t be only explain why we believe in something to be true, but also have to be obliged to alter our minds when facts change. In a nutshell, being able to think critically simply means not trusting things blindly and always have a doubt on the truth and also being able to take a decision after thinking well or being able to explain things in a more proper way.

2. Should I believe this? Why?
In my opinion, if I was you, after receiving such an e-mail, I definitely wouldn’t believe in it because after fully reading the e-mail, many suspicious thoughts have emerged in my mind. First and the most obvious reason that makes me not to have faith in that e-mail is that the whole e-mail sounds weird and creepy to be fair. Further reason to not believe in this strange e-mail is because out of the 7 billion people in this world, I randomly receive a strange e-mail from a person I don’t even know in the first place. Besides that, plenty of weird questions pop up in my brain such as ‘who is this Sharon Mooy ?’, ‘why does someone I not know from Libya wants to send me an e-mail to be asking me to be her trustee or foreign partner?’, ‘how come the daughter of a minister could face such a threat or problem?’ and the most obvious one is that ‘how did she get my e-mail in the first place?’. Well, it is pretty obvious that this e-mail could have been sent from a fake e-mail address or from a fake id and this e-mail can also be a scam which can cause problem to me if I respond to it. Furthermore, another reason for me to not believe in this e-mail is because there’s no evidence or justification to indicate that what she’s telling is the truth. She should have at least attached a bank statement indicating the procedures of the money transactions or a statement justifying the amount of money in the account. Lastly, another thing that is bothering me is that I can see that she doesn’t really know who I am as she is asking for my basic details such as my name and my age but how could she trust me and share all this to me without really knowing who I am?. So this e-mail is quite fishy and highly suspicious and hence, I would never ever believe such e-mail in my entire life.

3. Characteristics of a critical thinker.
Based on my personal view, the characteristics of a critical thinker are taking time to develop an effective strategy in order to do or solve something, completely concentrating on something without being distracted by people or social media, taking some time off to think better about a complex situation more carefully, pursuing more knowledge on things that they don’t know or of things they aren’t sure of, keeping their thoughts on their future rather than worrying and keeping on thinking about the past, following a well-planned strategy throughout without depending on luck and without giving up easily, looking forward to what is about to happen next, hard to be fooled, seeking more challenges in life, always on the lookout for dubious facts and finding ways to solve them, having an absolute perception on cost and value of things, asking questions before choosing something, and always think out of the box to solve an issue in a smart and proper manner.

1. So, what is critical thinking, anyway?

Thinking critically involves going beyond the obvious and ask what you do and do not know. While thinking uncritically involves accepting something at face value without pausing to consider whether it is sensible or justified. Thinking uncritically doesn't mean you are stupid and critical thinking is not what smart people always do.

People usually don't have time and energy to think critically. Whilst it is not practical for us to think whether green light means we have to move. It is important to know when and how to engage critically which is a question of habit and strategy. There are tools to think critically which are skepticism (doubting the truth of something) and objectivity (seeing something from a neutral point of view). It is crucial to set aside feelings and bias to establish the facts that matter.

Earth was once were felt and thought flat and the Sun was thought to be orbiting around the Earth until comes those skeptical people and the gradual accumulation and analysis of new knowledge brought new understandings that were updated as we learn more about those facts that matter. Critical thinking is not also just to explain the truth of something but also being able to change our mind when facts change. In hundred years' time, some of today's belief may be considered as laughable but still people usually don't like changing their minds. Importantly, thinking critically is not when you test your thinking to seek CONFIRMATION, but by looking hard for the things we still cannot explain.

2. Should I believe this? Why?

After reading this email, the first thing came into my mind is that who is this guy and how did he/she got my email as this person is from Libya and didn't even mention my country as if he/she really trust and know me? The first thing I did when reading this email is to confirm whether there is any Minister of road in Libya and it is definitely a lie when there is only Minister of transportation in Libya which deals with the projects involving roads. That is the most obvious lie in this email. Thinking it twice makes me felt weird as among of all human beings around this world, why am I the chosen one to receive this large amount of money and she even easily offered me a large proportion of that huge value? Not having any official letters from the bank or any trusted source even helped me to make up my minds that this email is really a fraud and not to be trusted anyways.

Conclusively, I had made up my mind not to trust such emails especially when it involves your personal information as they could do many things against us as they have those.

3. Characteristics of a critical thinker.

Select and apply attention on certain issues that need a strategy and don't worry much about those didn't need one. Conserve your metal energy as you have limited willpower, mental energy and attention. Build habits and working environment to help you focus. Not having any background activities when doing any work.

Wait and take some time when you are in doubt in something. Having some pauses and silence is a need for a better thought. Decide whether taking or not to take any actions. Know your limits and don't pretend to know what you don't know. Seek experts and don't assume them to know what they don't expertise in.

Be ready to accept losses and not to stick with something you see is not working out. Make sure you minimize your loss rather than losing everything. Not to judge the outcome of something you have done. Failing with a good strategy is better than succeeding with a bad strategy as you cannot be too obsessed of short term success.

Look things in a long term. Don't give credits to people for what is likely to happen. Do not seek for confirmation. Challenge and contradict ideas by putting your arguments and beliefs in a genuine test. Be sure of your terms and reference. Your perceptions of one's values are always relative and does not fix. Do it yourself and don't let something else do it for you. Look outside the frame of your choices. Look if the choices were really an option and ask yourself for a better way of thinking.

1. From the video, I learned that critical thinking is the ability to put aside the face value of something like dubious facts, tight situations etc. in order to go beyond the obvious. From there we can it gets easier to resolve the situation or decide whether that piece of information is mind-blowing or just a hoax made to spread chaos. And one must always bear in mind that thinking critically doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be an intellectual. To think critically, one require scepticism and objectivity. Scepticism is doubting the truth of something so that you don’t blindly trust something at face value and start to question its reliability and validity while objectivity means seeing something from a different perspective to have a wider and better insight of something, setting aside your own feelings and biases. Some people may not like to change what they have set in their mind and not trying to accept what new things that others want to implement in life which we should avoid to be able think critically and have a better life.

2. In my opinion, you should not believe the email. This is because the sender herself didn't provide her full information and show any legitimate documents to prove whatever she stated is true. She just simply plead for sympathy to someone who doesn't even know her and most importantly, she doesn't state how she gets your email address and she didn't clearly state why she had chosen you to be the trustee. It’s very random and illogical. She doesn’t even have the right to ask your personal information especially this being the first time she contacted you. The way she asked for your personal information seems most likely a fraud. Hence, you shouldn't believe this kind of email without finding the truth beyond all the words. This is obviously a scam and you should ignore it.

3. Characteristics of a critical thinker are able to slow down and think twice upon something; able to conserve mental energy to focus on something worth dealing; able to wait patiently on hard thought rather than coming up with a stupid decision; knowing well their limit for self-betterment; judging strategy of something rather than its result; seeking for refutation to improve argument and insight on something rather than confirmation, duelling in the comfort zone; being aware of the frame of reference of something and many more.

Assignment 2- Critical Analysis

Reflective Essay on Addiction to Technology

It is undeniable that technology is slowly taking over the world. Or maybe it already has but we are just too ignorant to see it. Our society function everyday with the help of technology as we had made it a necessity in life. However, we are now relying on technology for too many things that it has become an addiction.

Based on the article, I agree that technology can be addictive as we depend on it in many situations. Either for communication or gaining knowledge, technology like smartphones and laptops are simply needed in our daily lives. The statistics stated in the article further proves this point to be true. However, I disagree that technology cause more disadvantages than benefit us. As mentioned before, technology helps the society in many ways, be it as a mean to connect with people or as a tool to gain more knowledge. We just have to set boundaries to avoid overuse of technology which leads to addiction. The detrimental effects of technology mentioned in the article are mental and physical distress as well as emotional instability. I have read about addiction to technology before in a book called Awaken written by Katie Kacvinsky which is about a world where most people are plugged in. When I first read the book, I remember thinking that our world is not that far from being the one in the book. This fictional story helped me understand more about the advantages and disadvantages of technology. It all depends on the way we choose to use the technology to benefit us instead of wasting our time by getting distracted by it. This was also one of the hidden messages in one of the satirical illusion in the video.

Satirical illusion allows people to deliver their opinion about the society and allows critical argument indirectly. This particular video I watched gave me an insight on our addiction to technology. Some important messages that I managed to point out is that technology is becoming an obstacle for human interaction nowadays. We are tied to social medias on our gadgets and crave for people’s approval through the amount of likes we get on our social media posts. In the end, we isolate ourselves with gadgets and refuse to enjoy nature as well. Besides that, the reliability of information on the Internet is also questionable as people are getting used to making assumptions and spreading gossip which are untrue. Not only that, some people use technology to harm others with negative comments when they are emotionally distressed themselves. Invading others’ privacy has also become a normality in this virtual world. All these lead me to think that addiction to technology can be very dangerous if not prevented in the future.

Assignment 2- Addiction to Technology

Nowadays, technology is all around us. With the help of technology, our world just got a whole lot bigger. We discover a lot of thing that a 100 years ago was a subject of laughter. However, society today become too dependent on technology that it has become an addiction and cause lots of problem.

The video shown was a compilation of satirical illustration that shows today's society with technology, mainly social media platform. The idea that this addiction can detach someone from real life is the same as being addicted to drugs- when they had their first taste, they want for more until they lose themselves in a sense. This video made me remember my childhood that I was the kind of girl that play dolls with other girls who lived near my house. I was so happy back then. Now with the existence of technology, I find those to be tiresome.

From the article for 'Addiction to Technology', this is not a shock to me because I remember when my mother forbid me from using my phone and computer for the day. Along the day, I feel very bored, frustrated and kind of confused that day like my life was sucked out for the day. It was then I realized that my life circulate on technology. Without it, I feel very confused and lost.

Despite all the bad things caused with technology, I cannot argue that technology keep tabs on everyday's news. Technology nowadays help people with their everyday life from a simple call to someone to the new and developing technology such as AI like Alexa. With this, everything can be found and command with a finger tap or voice command. I wish there is a way that people can still have use their technology yet still keep their mind connected to the reality around them.

Critical analysis assignment 2- Addiction to technology

Based on the article, there is such a thing as technology addiction. I agree on the point that students nowadays are deeply addicted to modern technology. They cannot afford to unplug from technology like mobile phones, laptops and television for a whole day. This phenomenon is very common and obvious in my country, Malaysia. The people around me, like family members, relatives, friends and schoolmates, almost all of them are equipped with a smartphone or tablet and they engaged in many social media applications too. It seems like the technology has been a must for them in their lives. When I was outside, I had observed that even small kids as young as 1-year-old will have their own modern gadget in hand. I think that the increased usage of modern technology is a negative phenomenon because it brings more harms than benefits.

I think that technology has a detrimental effect on us without us noticing. One of the effect is the modern technology has shortened and hindered the verbal conversation between people. This is because with everyone having their own smartphone or tablet, they are more likely to stare and play with their phones than talking to the people around them. At the same time, modern gadgets weaken one’s communication skills because one speaks less and being quiet more. One will also be affected negatively in the social aspect because one will tend to be more socially awkward. They fear talking face to face with real people because they are used to chat with them using social media apps. Thus, they are more likely to have “virtual friends” than real friends.

Critical analysis assignment 2

Technology has been very developed nowadays. The video and the article on ‘Addiction on Technology’ are primarily about how technology has destructed the norm of the human lives in this technological era. Nevertheless, it is actually pointing to the electronic communicational devices like smartphone and television which has negatively impacted the social life of the community around the world. As for me, I would always look into this issue from various perspectives. Honestly, the technology has brought the humanity a very good use but its development is rather uncontrollable until human themselves cannot avoid from its bad side. I once heard a phrase that says “we are private by default and public by effort”. Back at the previous time we get it so difficult to put any information about ourselves to the world and search for others. Then technology comes and eases our job. We can be found most anywhere in the internet at any time. Information is searchable. The data intrusion is inevitable and omnivorous. However, what brings us the most unfortunate thing with this excellent achievement of social revolution is that most of us, the internet users are addicted to this thing that we create ourselves. The situation is getting worse until this addiction is equalized to the drug addiction.

I remember back at the time when I was in my bed getting ready to sleep at 12 midnight, I looked at my Oppo smartphone and opened my Facebook application and I started scrolling down. Then I realized that it had been already 4 a.m. I was spending 4 hours looking at Facebook memes and timeline until I forgot the existence of time. And then I was late for class in the morning. The thing shows that we are losing our identities as human as we are attached to the technology. We are inserting the thing into our normal life, which we should not. The real daily communication becomes virtual and the virtual becomes reality. Perhaps I have become what social media scholar Danah Boyd calls a “technofretful parent” but I myself possess my own real life to be taken care of rather than spending times with ‘Clash of Clans’ or ‘Angry Birds’ on my mobile phone. My point is we should not let the technology dictates us. However, we are the one who create them and know what are their limit in favor of controlling them with our own hands. We are over-adapted to being watched in stories, to have little left of ourselves that is not “posted”, “liked” or “commented”. To what extent is our humanness has become unrecognizable to us? Just take a moment to think about it for a moment while watching your Facebook timeline.

-madobae

CRITICAL ANALYSIS - ASSIGNMENT 2
Reflective Essay on Video 'Satirical Illustration to Technology' and Article about 'Addiction to Technology'

After I watch the video and the article that were assigned to us for our homework, i feel that it really break my heart as the phenomenon that were discussed in both the video and the article are the truth and cannot denied. Both of the stimuli told that the world nowadays are taking their time and money on gadget and social media.
I strongly agree about the statement about the reality of our community that take very seriously about social network and cause them to neglect their family, friends and even the community itself. Based on my experience, whenever i go to the shopping complex, my institution for studies, my neighborhood, I see various of people but in their hand there will be the smartphone as the smartphone are one of part of them. I try to communicate with them, but mostly of them just say hi to me without any intention to talk longer in the conversation.then, their focus back to their smartphone again.
Moreover, I feel more sad as this phenomenon of addicting to technology is becoming a virus to my own family. All my siblings are too busy with their smartphone and even when we eat together, the smartphone still glued in their hand.
When i look the video, it s remind me that the relationship of our community become far each day. I agree that the gadget cannot be part away from the student, as today, our world move more faster both in the way of thinking and technology that become more innovative. The technology give benefits to us as student to search for the information. It is more faster rather than sitting in front of a thick books for hours to search for some knowledge. Hence, I do not put the blame for 100% to the technology as it is very significant to us.
As a reflective, the technology have both benefits and disadvantages itself. But people today more focus on its disadvantages as its show the bad result to our community. In my opinion, we as a homo sapien with the gifted of critical thinker should find away to prevent this issues became more worse each day. it is better do something than nothing.

(AP01453) set 5
Assignment 2(Addiction to technology)

After watching the video and reading the article, I agree that in this modern day, technology is like a basic necessities for people. I can say this because of my own experience in life, I realize that I do not know what to do when I have a lot of time to spare after my SPM examination. All I did was watching movies all day and sometimes it made me think what if there is no technology? What should I do then? All the question keep coming out but I still spent my time watching movies as I was addicted to it.
In conjunction to my experience, I mostly agree to the article “Student 'addiction' to technology 'similar to drug cravings'” this is because Prof Susan Moeller, who led the research, said technology had changed the students’ relationships. I agree to this because technology can breaks family bonds. This is because family members cannot make a conversation if all of the family members is using their sweet time talking and chatting in their phones. This led me to agree to the statements where “students talked about how scary it was, how addicted they were,”. I also must agree that technology provides the social network for young people because they does not have to meet up to get to now new people or make friends because nowadays people can do this all online. I also agree that when we are not connected to technology we would felt helpless as there is nothing we can think of to do beside staying connected to technology because our life revolves on technology. I once wanted to experience a whole day without technology but it was very difficult because mainly a student cannot be separated from technology as this is the way they can receive lesson, completing their assignment or getting information from their lecturers. This show that technology is very important nowadays but can be very dangerous in some ways. However in this article I disagree on the statement ‘I became bulimic with my media; I starved myself for a full 15 hours and then had a full-on binge.’ because for me how addictive I am food is my top priority.

Does technology have a detrimental effect on us? The point that technology have a detrimental effect on us is when the people can starve for 15 hours long and had a full-on binge after that. Technology also can be harmful to ask if we are addicted to it, this may cause us to live unhealthily. We can also be passive if our lives is evolved around technology only. From this research article and my own experience I must agree that there is technology addiction.

Besides that, the gadgets are also a crucial matter especially for kids and teenagers. Anywhere we go, we could see the people’s mind and eyes are glued to their smartphones no matter whether in the public transport or in the restaurant. This could lead to the lack of communication skill among the kids and teenagers. When they grow up, it will be hard for them to communicate in a proper way since they were disclosed with the technology since small.

From the article, I do believe that the technology has already conquer the young generation today. Based on the research, it stated that it was hard for the students to live without smartphones for a day. Honestly, as a student, I admit that it is quite difficult to leave the smartphone because most of the time, I use it to keep lecture notes and having a group discussion with friends. However, we have to know our limits and do not misused the social media as it will bring to an unhealthy life. Hence, we should know that lots of benefits can we get it we utilize the technology ingeniously.

Critical analysis assignment 2: Addiction to technology
After watching the video and reading the article, I strongly agree with all the points stated in the video and article. The world is changing to a technology-addiction world. Looking out in the street, even at home or in school, its not surprising to see that everyone including young children are bending their head down with a smartphone or a tablet in their hands. It is a common that all the people in this world starting to interact more to technology than to people in real life.

Technology has become a dominant in today’s life. Everything happens for a reason and the main reason is because of technology. For example, in today’s society, people starting to encourage cashless society, which means that everyone buy stuffs without bringing a wallet but a smartphone. We just need to flash our smartphone on a machine and the payment is made. Besides, lecturers can send notes to their students through email. Undeniably, technology does bring us advantages.

However, everything has its pros and cons. Being addicted to technology, people start to face problems like how to communicate with one another. They keep on chatting with their friends through social media, but when they meet up with their friends, they become socially awkward. They could not communicate properly with their friends as they used to chat using text. In addition, as stated in the article, people will start feeling uneasy when they are not allowed to use the technology. Its like a modern-day-drug to everyone. Even when a child starts to cry, the parents will also try to ask their children to be quiet by giving them to watch videos on the Youtube or play games in the phone and tablet. Children starting to lose their innocent and pure childhood time. Besides, people also starts to become unaware towards the surrounding. They keep on spending time on their gadgets even when walking in the street until they do not know what had happened surround them while they are walking. They would not even notice that if an old lady falls by the roadside. Thus, they would not stop and help the pity old lady.

In a nutshell, there are pros and cons on technology, A good usage of technology does bring a lot of benefits to us. Nevertheless, addiction to technology is really like a thorn in a flesh, a thorn in the society. Therefore, I hope that everyone will not misuse technology and make a full good use of technology but not addicted to it.

Reflective Essay on Technology
In daily life, we only have 4 basic needs which are food, water, shelter and air but in this modern world, we have an extra basic need which is gadget. Why do I say so ? From the article and video, we clearly knew that most human especially teenagers cannot live without gadget! It is not rare for us seeing people engaging with smartphones and tablets everytime and everywhere. Me myself also agree that I will become lifeless without any gadgets. It is because we live in a modern and high technology world and everything is at our fingertips. Evidence? Online banking, online hotel booking, examinations results, and even payments for our meals are through our gadgets.

Actually, it depends on the person itself. I think it is not the technology's fault. It is our fault. Technology makes our life easier and better, not to make our life getting worst and sick. Only people nowadays do not know how to appreciate technology and they overused them. From the satirical illustrations in the video, it is cleary stated that the misuse of technology effect negatively on one's life. We slowly break our family relationship eventhough we still have dinner together, we failed to speak in front of the crowd, and to be clear and honest, we do not live in a real life. We still communicate, but it is in virtual life. People also tend to invest a lot amount of money to buy something pricey and post them to the social media for the sake of 'Likes' and 'Shares'. Nowadays, people gain happiness through this. The more the 'Likers', the more they think that they are popular and the more they happy. To be honest, I think it is not the real happiness, they just want to prove to everyone that they are living happily, but the reality is not.

So, my point is, we do not have to blame the technology, we must blame ourself. We as a normal human can decide whether the applications are useful or not. It is our fault to install it and get addicted of it day by day. It is not the technology's fault because the applications do not come automatically in our phone. It is our finger tapping the button 'Install'. In a nutshell, don't let the technology to conquer us.

Critical Analysis: Assignment 2

As we are marching towards the era of globalization and urbanization, the youngsters are badly suffocated with the addiction towards technology and social networks. I am a teenager myself, and I acknowledge all of the occurrences and reports that were told as I have encountered most of the events shown in the video and written in the article. We may not notice the aftereffects of being too attached to the technology, but being too dependent on it does bring disaster to the current generation. A fact that most of us doesn’t know about is that, engaging ourselves with our cellphones and the social media releases a chemical called ‘dopamine’. That is why when we get a text, or notifications from our facebook, twitter or instagram account, we feel good. Dopamine is the exact same chemical that makes us feel good when we smoke, when we drink and when we gamble. In other word, it is highly highly addictive.

In today’s society, a lot of people are depending so much on technology especially to make them feel loved and worthy and this explains a lot why the number of likes on instagram and retweets on twitter does give a vast satisfaction to some people. The youths’ social and communication’s skills are severely appalling as compared to the older generations' because most of their acquaintances are “internet friends” and so, they have very small circle of friends in real life and some of them are more comfortable being alone with their gadgets, alienating themselves from the reality of life.

With technology, we grow in a world with instant gratification. When we feel like buying something, we go to amazon.com, lazada or shopee and your stuff arrives the next day. When we feel like watching movie, log on and watch it on the internet. When we feel like learning something; how to bake for example, search for recipes and watch cooking show on youtube. You won’t have to go out to do all these things. Everything will be served right in front of you with just a click. Yes, with technology, everything mentioned above is possible. With technology, everything we want, we can have it instantaneously. Everything, except for strength of relationship and self-confidence, there ain’t no app for that. They are slow and messy process. These two things are what today’s generation are lack of in themselves, and these are examples of the negative effects that technology could give us.

The fact that we could never live a day without technology and internet, defines so much about our addiction towards it. And like all addictions, it will destroy relationships, it will cost time, money, and make our life worse. Nevertheless, it is undeniable that technology does have a number of benefits provided for the mankind. But do not let ourselves being too attached to it. When we spend less time on technology, we would literally enjoy the world, even the simplest little thing that happens, and that is when the bombastic ideas come.

As the technology advances, it has become one of the basic needs in majority of our society’s life. From what I can see in the video, technology affected our daily life. People who are addicted to technology would rather spend hours for it rather than having a nice dinner with their family. It is saddening to see some parents give their children gadgets at such a young age just to calm them down. From my experience, I had seen a child who is only 3 years old suffered from mild autism due to over exposure to gadgets. Also, based on the article, a research shows that most of teenagers seems like they cannot live without their phone or gadgets. These prove how bad technology or gadgets addiction can negatively affect us.

However, everything has its own advantages and disadvantages. I agree that technology has made our live easier. We can easily communicate with others and simply find information through internet access. Therefore, I believe we should realize its bad effect and start using it wisely so we can avoid ourselves from becoming addicted to it.

Critical Analysis : Assignment 2
From the video and the article shown, it can be concluded that people nowadays mostly young adults from age 17-23 spend most of their time with gadgets. They always rely on their smart phones in order to connect with the outer world. For an example, they communicate with their loved ones through text messages, they keep in touch with the world news through social media, and even tend to record an incident instead of helping the one in need first hand. Besides, it can clearly be seen that people are addicted to technologies that they forget to spend their time with their beloved ones face to face and turns out they lack of communication skills and the relationship becomes meaningless. What is the point of having a smartphone when it is not used smartly. They only live for the likes and comments on every post that they updated on social media. In fact, all those things are only to influence other people and make them insecured. Hence, I think that being addicted to technologies is not a good thing where we would miss a lot of good things happening around us.

Critical analysis assignment 2: Addiction to technology

Based on the video and the article given, technology has become a great benefit to us but many people have taken it too far. According to researcher and surveys taken all over the world shows that a large number of people may have become addicted to their technological devices and are not able to make it through a day without their cell phones or other technological devices. Many have concerns that people would rather use these devices than to have a face to face conversation. The addictions of technological devices are on the rise. Although these devices were meant to make our lives easier there have been many problems to arise ranging from health risk, relationship problems, classroom, and work interferences.

The video also shows that long term wireless use may be associated with health risk. Sitting in front of a computer for too many hours can be a health hazard which can lead to weight gain which causes cardiovascular disease and diabetics. Other than that, even when we're out and about, we take our electronics with us, often in the form of iPods or other digital music players. It's nice to be insulated from the hurly-burly of modern life, but listening to music through headphones can increase the risk of hearing loss.

I’m not going to lie I love technology; I think it’s a wonderful thing. But when I call my friends to go to the movies or go get some lunch, and they don’t want to go because they “don’t feel up to it”, I suggest you show up at their house or roo and drag them away from their computer; otherwise, I don’t think they’re going to move. Technology is necessary, but over used. It can be good for some things, but some things are unnecessary and make us less social.

Now, instead of running miles on the endless track at the lake with your feet, you scroll miles on your phone. Instead of listening to the voice of your loved ones, you just read the proves of their love on text messages. Nature now is greeted like an old friend, only meeting up when plans were made. Isn’t it a catastrophe for the race of human beings? Being surrounded by nature, but only noticing that most of the good parts of them are fading away when it’s already too late.

It is no secret that the technologies that arrive upon the millennium age has benefitted us in more ways than we can imagine. We can easily cross the sea that separates us with our loved ones, only by a phone call. With just a press of your thumb, you can get accessed to news all over the world. With just tweeting hashtags, you can let the people on warzone know that you are aware of their misery. Discussions with your groupmates are easily done without even leaving the four walls of your room. Simply put, the world is in the tips of your hands.
However, things that are made easy are the ones who steal you of the littlest things that make life more memorable. The evidence for this is, it is a common sight to see a group of family bending over on their dining table, each and every one of them with a gadget of their own. Adults nowadays tends to fill their leasure time with social medias, watching movies, looking up the latest news and gossip and many other things while today kids always fill their time with video games. Just like internet addiction, video games addiction is really dangerous too.

These addiction to technology may bring up to people neglecting other responsibilities, like spending time with family or focusing on academics. People who spend time excessively will most likely see their grades and overall performance in school drop. There are also many health problems with the 21th century people spend less time for exercise or other intense activities that may lead to obesity.

My experience is when I was in primary school, the students there will easily get along with other friends because they are playing active games with each other while most of nowadays student are so introvert where they cant communicate with each other well because they used to just whatsapp or message them when they need to. I also enjoying many great activity like playing jenga, duelling with yugioh/uno cards, monopoly which needed a group of friends to enjoying it while the kids today having a passive game play where they just need to touch the phone screen to play it alone.

That’s why the use of technology is something that needs to be done in moderation in order to prevent these problems from becoming serious and not become addicted.

Critical Analysis Assignment 2
Reflective Essay on Addiction to Technology
Technology takes on many different form such as medical technology, information technology, Entertainment technology. The video and article are describing the danger of a certain type of technology, social media to be precise the internet. In both of the outlets mentioned, they described social media as a drug.It cannot be denied that society more importantly teenagers have become to reliant on this technology. Not only that, they also exploited the negative effects of social media. It is true that there are many people that have become an addict to this stuff. However I can't confidently say that social media is not important. If I said that then I would be lying to myself.I do not consider myself an addict but I do rely on social media to obtain information and entertainment.
Social mediahas its benefits. As previously mentioned it is a source of information. If we do not keep up with current events,we can get left behind and become ignorant of the world.Human requires entertainment. It is part of nature and right now entertainment has taken a new form, social media. It is social media fault to exist or transform into it. It is the flow of time and time is irreversible. My final on this matter is addiction to this problem is real but the cure is self will.We as individuals are only that can do it.

Critical Analysis Assignment 2

Reflective Essay on Internet Addiction

Being part of this modernized world is such a bless at your first sight but when you see everything more deeply and thoroughly, you will realize that we were all deceived by the freedom and the convenience of technology all around us. We may seem not to be colonized but we are, in the new form of colonization which is by the TECHNOLOGY.

Acknowledging this, I was once trapped in the world of technology where I was unable to undergo my daily life as a normal social person. Being unable to speak confidently, join a group conversation and even talking without being awkward among my friends, I realized I was one of the victims of this 'blessed' communication technology when I rely on Facebook when communicating among my friends during school breaks (since I was in a boarding school). But fortunately I did overcame this problem as I entered my form 4, seeing the effort of my counselor helping me much in improving my communication skills. Thanks to them I escaped from continuously being the victim of Internet addiction.

As every single thing exist, they will be benefits and shortcomings but we can see how common people will tend to be intrigued to be affected by the technology rather than benefiting from it. Technology are undeniably crucial in our life as it does not just make our life easier, but also making it more efficient and meaningful. But seeing how teenagers nowadays are controlled by this even them facing such addictions, making me think about the upcoming new generations. As if teenagers nowadays are much affected by the technology, how could they become a good parents for their children in the future? Can the future generations entertain their children without giving them iPads and internet connections just to please them? How will the entertainment and social devices evolve as technology continue to evolve in such a vast effect? People should realize these consequences as they live their 'happy' life thinking the fate of our upcoming heirs. For now, just pause, take a deep breath, slow down and think while scrolling down your Instagram account.

Nowadays, we want everything to be more convenient and accessible. With the help of technology, we can across almost all sectors. However, technology has slowly taken an essential part in our daily lives. We could not imagine how our life would be without technologies such as televisions, smartphones and computers. This will become an addiction and some of us could not survive without them.

From the video, a compilation of satirical illustration shows how sad is our society’s life today. The addiction to technology becomes worse that we couldn’t care less about the reality surrounding us. People tend to depend on technology for everyday existence. For example, once my phone broke last time, I’m at a loss which I thought that I have done for. When I’m with a group of people, I feel awkward that the only person didn’t play with the phone is me. It didn’t realise me back then that the society more addicted to their gadget.

With technology, life gets easier such as what we want to buy, we will do it online by using the internet. It’s effortless to communicate with others when we can do it on Facebook, Twitter and video chat them with Skype. However, the impact of technology mostly on our social, mental and physical. The article about student ‘addiction’ to technology stated that most of the students can’t live without technology when forced to unplug them for an entire day. In my opinion, even though technology gives a bad impact for students in term of the social, but in education, technology is important for students because they can access information at any time.

From the video, we can say that people nowadays are mostly addicted to technologies. In this context, technologies are not only smart phone but also laptop, tablet and television. Social media like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other popular site for social media are the top influencer in this problem. Just look how ‘health’ our community is, most of them have physical health problem which really worrying us. It is true that the obesities percentage in Malaysia not really affected by technologies directly. If we think deeply, obesity is the most popular among Malaysian because we can see it everywhere we go, and people always think that the problem is from our country which have variety of mouth-watering food, but put aside that factor, think it deeply, it is not a problem to be in this lovely country that have variety of delicious food, it is a problem to be in society which put technologies on the top of the top.

People do not go outside because they have technologies in their hand and they will get all the information they need at the tips of their fingers. So they do not really have to move and do some exercises. Why they do not want to do exercises? Because technologies is somehow more interesting than being outside and inhale some fresh air. The only need to sit anyway or lay down on bed, and can do everything with gadgets. They do not have to be tired or sweating just relax and chill their time with gadget. This is how obesity rate keeps increasing in our beautiful country. I have an experience whenever I ask somebody to go outside, do some activity, they will say they do not have many time and have a lot of assignments waiting for them. But when I come back and what I see is they are scrolling their smart phone while laughing instead of doing their assignments.

Second, most of people in this country have mental health problem. Why we can say that technologies might be the part of the contributor of this problem is people, mostly girl want to be famous or well-known in social media and they somehow keep trying to be the best and make people jealous with what they have. And some other girl will feel insecure and worrying about their life which is not good as what they can see in the social media. This shows that they are not appreciating for what they have, they tend to fell irritated and jealous to others people achievements. It is good if they inspired instead of feeling bad of themselves. If they feel jealous and doing nothing only just hating themselves. Yeah, it is a bad sign then.

As for the article, I don’t think I have the addiction problem because I still can live happily without gadgets. This might be because I love to interact with people but somehow people around me that have that kind of problem which make me feel lonely and need my gadget to get rid the boredom. But I have some people in my life that really love to interact human-human instead of human-gadget-human. I cannot deny how tempting gadget is but I still can resist it in good way.

But we cannot say that technologies is only bring bad side to people but we still need to remember how much we need technologies in our life, to make our life more easier and convenient. Don’t forget good things in someone or something just because you see how bad they are.

Critical Analysis Assignment 2

Reflective Essay on Addiction to Technology

From the article and the video, it is true that people nowadays are addicted to the technology. As we live in a very modern world where technologies can be found everywhere, we can say that our life is depend on it. In my opinion, it is good to use technology in our daily life. However, the term ‘use’ technology should be specified. Technology is something that will ease our work and our life routine. It also give benefits to us if we use it in a good way. For example, technology can be used in finding information in a faster way. It also can reduce time and budget when using it for seeking information. The existence of technology also connects people who is miles away from us. In a nutshell, technology is beneficial to us and important in our life.

On the other hand, technology also gives some negative impacts to the users. People who are depending their life totally on technology surely cannot live without technology in a second. This is because, they had set their mind that technology is everything they need in their life. Some people who are addicted social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are tend to develop passive traits. They rather choose to meet someone online than meet themselves in personal – face to face. This decreases the social interaction among our social norms and it is very dangerous. If it is happen continuously, our world is predicted to become silent in the next hundreds years where people are just doing their own business through technology and not interaction among themselves.

In a conclusion, we can say that technology gives either positive or negative effects on us depending on how we use it. So, we must use our precious technologies in a way that gives us more benefits instead of its bad impact. It is not a problem to live with technology, but use it well in order to get benefits from it.

CA Assignment 1
1.After watching the video, my opinion is that critical thinking is something which will help us to make the best decision in a situation. Critical thinking makes us to find some evidences or proves to believe in something. It's a way of thinking that makes us not easily believe in any arguments and statements without any supporting evidences.
Most of the people are not aware of this things and are easily fooled by someone because they are accepting arguments and blindly believing in them. To prevent this from happening, we need to think in a critically thinking way.
2. In my opinion, we should not believe the email we receive and i would confirm if this email is one of the spam. Out there, many people are trying to steal someone's identity by this way. So, i think this person is trying to do the same thing. You have to the probability, you does not even know them, but why she choose you? Since his father is a former minister, they must have friends from other and they are more trusted than a stranger like you. This is all about money who does want to give you money easily?
3. I think critical thinker always have some time to think of something and do not rushingly make a decision. Because they aware of the error of result if they make a decision straight away.
For them its okay to look stupid, and do not pretend to know what we not know. Instead, they
They also judge the strategy, not results. Because the results can be made of bad strategies. Practising good strategies even the outcome did not really well but it worth repeating. Do not too obsess with short-term success. Most of this only luck and luck do not come to every people.

CA Assignment 2

Assignment 2 - Reflective essay on Addiction to Technology

There are no words to describe how technology has influenced people in this modern era. The problem relating addiction to technology has slipped out of our hands as technology has begun to control us rather than us controlling them.

People especially teenagers nowadays are so addicted to technology that they can’t live their everyday life normally without them. This can be seen through the article where we can clearly see that most of the college students refused to voluntarily avoid their technological gadgets, mainly their cellphones, for one full day and when they were forced to avoid technology for some time, it was observed that most of them couldn’t lead their life normally and had felt several negative effects. This can also be observed around me whenever I take my friends’ or family members’ phone. They couldn’t take it and always ask back for their phones seconds later as they are too attached to their cellphones and can’t live without them.

I agree to the article that technology can be addictive sometimes and teenagers have to control or limit the usage of their technological gadgets so that they won’t be too addicted and dependant on their gadgets to live their life. I’m not saying that people should avoid technology altogether, but have to limit their usage as technology do have its benefits if used wisely.

Based on the ‘Satirical illustrations on addiction to technology’, we can see several bad effects caused by addiction to technology. One of the effects is that technology creates a barrier between human beings to communicate in their everyday life. This also has been occurred around me whenever I go out to eat or sit with my friends. They often use their phones rather than talking with one another. This shows that people are too tied to their technological devices until they could forget the people around them. Furthermore, technology has also caused distress to others and has emerged to cyberbullying. So, I believe that when technology, when not controlled, could cause several dangerous effects to people and can slowly lead to the destruction of humanity.

AP01266 SET 5

Assignment 2

Technology gave rise to tonnes of social media, where information spreads and you can get in the know with just a few taps and scroll. The problem is however, you won’t be able to tap or scroll just for a few times, unless we are talking about those selected few. This occurrence is normal, although not healthy, but it is perfectly normal to get addicted to using them.

Technologies made our life easy in lots of way, but the most apparent one is obviously connecting people from afar. It lets you talk to people without having the effort to go and meet them. It also gives you reports and news from all over the world. And most importantly it connects you with people close and dear to you. There are also games for when people are bored. A simple game for you to fulfil your leisure, or more complex ones, played with your friends from your community and is played as sports – e-sports. There are also smart assistants who will do most of the things you should and help you doing them, ranging from reminding you for your appointment to finding you the best place to eat, they can do almost anything.

However, with this lots of pros, there also comes cons. Connecting people from afar made people lazier. So much lazier that people converse through texts although they can already meet them just by climbing a flight of stairs. The games that are made to entertain sometimes entertain people too much that they got addicted, spending 23 hours per day on screen. Having assistants make you rely on them too much that your brain starts to function less because apparently you need reminders for everything.

Technology is great and all but it came with a price, therefore use it wisely, and don’t get addicted.
