My guilty pleasure is the flash sales on TikTok shop 😅 To be fair, I usually add to basket and wait for a few days before I buy it or keep it in the basket in case the price goes down even more.

The website definitely gave me a bit of a slap round the face (metaphorically!) saying with about £100 a month on TikTok shop that mounts up to £1200-1500 a year 😦 and it got me thinking if I stopped my unnecessary spending I could put that money towards things like driving or rent pre payments etc

It goes back to the concept of if you weren’t going to buy it already you’re wasting money on something you don’t need/essential things.

Definitely need to shop around for the best deal, as sometimes the urgency and that little countdown timer gets the best of me. But that’s their tactic to get you to spend more 🫠🫣

Amy 50538974

My guilty pleasure is spending on clothes, trainers, and handbags, and make-up products and skincare, when I don’t really need to. I do use Vinted and shop thrift stores as a form of bargain hunting for clothing to try and minimise the cost a little bit as it’s cheaper than high street shops. After using the demotivator tool it showed me that spending even 25 pounds a week on a new item, that I could probably live without, equals 100 pounds a month and this adds up to a fair amount in a year. It has made me think to calm down on unnecessary spending.

I also use the Vinted platform to sell these items when I no longer have use for them or fancy a change, which I have already started selling a lot of bits and pieces on there which feels good to get some money back for things and also makes my head feel clearer having less stuff :)

Although I have got a lot better at excessively spending on these items, I feel that spending as much as I used to on clothes and make up is extra, and I have learnt to calm this down considerably, I have used the demotivator tool in my current situation where I am spending a lot less on this stuff but previously it has been more than 100pounds a month on stuff I maybe wore a few times or handbags i may have used 3 or 4 times which for the amount spent in total across year, thinking about it this way, does not seem worth it.

50541794

My guilty pleasure is buying a friday fastfood meal. Where I admit it'snot the healthiest choice in the world. I do like to treat myself after a long week of studying. It's not like I buy it every week I dont have a fastfood meal when we are off for half term and Christmas/summer. I also save myself money by downloading the Unidays, student Beans and other apps that give you free sandwiches, drinks and sides etc. Which I highly mmed by the way!! You dont realise how much you can save by using once a week which love!!

Another place in love to shop in is charity shops! I love browsing what we have in store whilst I volunteer and seeing what great itemsthey have. In Barnardo's they have a great range of things from clothes and bags to sets of cups and plates. Not only is it cheap but it goes to charity. I almost always end up taking something home from the shop like a handbag or jewelry. Its perfect for students wanting to by for thier families as presents from the high street can be so expensive!

Overall I do spend alot of money on fastfood and in charityshops but to be honest I do not spend that much money in general 😂😂

50541455

Danielle Bickram
