The pros that it has:
- You can meet people around the world. Be near is not a problem because of technology. It gives us a lot of advantages.
- Talk at your convenience, you can answer them when you want or when you have time!


The contras that it has:
- The lack of information you have about them, as everything is virtual you really don't know if the person you are chatting is who he says. It can be a problem and also dangerous
- Be far away from that people!

On the other hand, I think that some cons are that you don't meet the person face to face, and maybe you don't really get to know the person behind the screen, so you don't know who you're dealing with. There have been many cases in which young people have been contacted virtually, and they have made friends with somebody who's looking to take advantage of that "friendship" and ended up abusing these young people.

I believe that as long as the environment where you are meeting new people is something controlled then you can be safe. For example, many years ago, when I was a scout girl, we used to join an online chat event called Joti where you could meet many other scout boys and girls from all over the world. And if later that year, of few years after ,you were planning to travel to a Jamboree (that is a world wide event) you could meet your new friends there.
